I had some questions before deciding whether to go to Milton's or not. Information on their menu and on order page was very different. However, it is not possible to talk to Milton's on a phone. There is only an answering machine with extremely difficult to understand messages, recorded with so much background noise, long and almost unintelligible phrases, eventually leading to different choices (press 1, 2 etc), all of which in turn lead to the next unintelligible messages ending with "Good bye!". Also, the sound of the prerecorded voice is distorted as well because of electrical noise, etc. I listened to answering machine 6 or 7 times trying to figure out what was there, but still could not understand anything except few random words, the words "outdated system" and "Good bye". This is the first time in my life when a business have so little respect to their customers in terms of phone service. At least make your messages intelligible, ask a different person to record them in a different way, and update your outdated phone system! read more

I went to Milton's alone. Despite being short-staffed, I was able to get a seat at the bar quickly. The manager was working the bar as well as directing staff. He later apologized for me waiting for a menu and drinks, but actually the wait times were fine. Gave me time to decide what to order. I had seen an item in the on-line menu that was not on the printed menu--grits and rib meat--and was able to order that. The food was great. The grits were just right, not runny or dry. It was loaded with rib meat in a tangy barbecue sauce, with peppers. I got it topped with an optional fried egg. Milton's is casual. Groups were having happy conversations. A woman walked in to a surprise birthday party for her and everyone sang Happy Birthday. But even with full tables, I could hear people talking to me clearly. They have a good beer and wine selection for a small restaurant. All in all, it was a good experience. read more

Who would have thunk that a fabulous breakfast place would be nestled in the middle of a no-name strip mall in Crystal? And with a sidewalk patio? Well, it is. Milton's is owned by the same family that owns the Park Tavern in St. Louis Park, MN. Charlene, who prefers "Char," welcomed us for breakfast on a quiet Monday morning. I presume that, for that reason, she had time to visit, and visit she did. Char and her staff certainly know how to make guests feel welcome.The place is cozy, with large sections of the room set aside with couches and easy chairs. It's as though you were in their home. The breakfasts we ordered, all standard American fare, we hearty, delicious, and very reasonably priced. All told, Milton's is on my list for favorite breakfasts, and I'm looking forward to coming back for lunch. read more

I found this place out of pure coincidence and I did not regret my decision. I ordered a jerk Mac and cheese and my boyfriend ordered ribs. Not only were the portions perfect but the taste was amazing. The general vibe was of 60s-70s music like Motown music. There was a full bar with delicious cocktails. Best lunch of the week!!! Thank you Miltons for a great office lunch! I can't believe I haven't been here in so long!! Tried some different items this time in order to accommodate some of our vegetarian and gluten-free staff members. One was the jerk salad which was amazing!! Loved the cranberries and crunchy apples!! Then a side Caesar salad. We also ordered the plank salmon which was delicious I only wish we had ordered more. We got it with the beans and rice and a side of jerk Mac!! We all agreed Miltons needs to be on our office rotation! So glad they've stayed strong during this difficult year! read more

Had an amazing late lunch with South Carolina cheesy grits and shrimp topped with an over medium egg. The ratio of red sauce, cheese and grits was perfection! I ordered double shrimp as you can never get enough shrimp. Had plenty of grits leftover for another meal. Our server was super friendly and made a great suggestion on adding the egg. This places main ingredient is salt, and next over spice everything!! Do not order the Blu cheese burger, it's three pounds of blue cheese 1/4 pound burger and bun. The food is horrible. Fly the rainbow flag and rub it in everyone's face (force feed LGBTQ to everyone) keep to yourselves! No one is hating you fir being deviants, but not everyone has to support your deviant cause! The restaurant is tucked into a strip mall near the corner of 36th and Douglas and is a welcome change from the chain restaurants in the community. I'll prep you that portion control and healthy eating habits will fall by the wayside once you're inside this Southern-inspired scratch kitchen - you'll get generous platefuls of tasty food served up by friendly staff in a cozy space. The restaurant is rustic and antique-filled space that includes a sofa, board games and coloring books in case you need something to do if there is a wait for your table. The area isn't big, but the layout makes the most of the dining room. You'll be able to enjoy your meal and if you may meet some new folks at a neighboring table. The upside of the layout seeing the food options on your fellow diner's tables. Milton's southern soul-food inspiration is evident in the jerk chicken, ribs, and grits. I've been here several more times since my first visit. It desevers 5 stars because is consistently a top five Burger in the twin cities. This burger is the standard to which I compare all thick bistro style burgers. The meat is running with flavor and juices with a perfect sear on the outside. A reviewer wrote organism and Portobello Sandwich in the same sentence... so naturally I had to order it. Yum!!! So flavorful, only wished they toasted the ciabatta. My group ordered Ribeye Sandwich and Russian Rye Sandwich. They all loved theirs too. Funny, the site said we had extra ham, so if your order is $30 you can have ham on pretzel bun (no sides) for free. That was a sweet add on and also delicious. Great place for breakfast! Met a friend here for breakfast (her pick) and could not be more pleased. We arrived pretty much right after they opened and were able to sit anywhere. The little fish water jugs are cute, but hard to pour into the heavy church like glasses. A nice touch so we don't have to wait around for refills. Breakfast was amazing and one of the best I have had in a while. I ordered the scramble with rice, pico de Gallo, bacon etc. It was really good. Lick your plate good. I have been wanting to visit Milton's for some while now. I would like to go back and dine in. This review is based up a to go order. Ambiance: Not what I was expecting, which is good. I thought it would be some hole in the wall spot , but it had atmosphere. and was really cute. It has a play area for kids, which is nice. So definitely kid friendly. Service: The server was an extremely friendly and chatty guy. Those who he chatted with adored him, I could tell, but I just wanted to ask my question and order. Ughhh... I was starving. Now I thought they were still serving breakfast, but they weren't and once i viewed the menu and realized that I had already missed breakfast food, I no longer wanted to dine, but those wings I'd been reading about still were giving me life, so I HAD to be greedy and order some to go. This place used to be great. It was my family's go-to spot for birthday celebrations, dates, takeout, etc. Once Covid hit, it's like they couldn't figure out how to manage the day to day operations of a restaurant. They use Covid and "people being mean" as a crutch as to why they are going downhill. The owner was more focused on her social media than running the business. I went in last week, the food wasn't as good, the prices are higher, and our server thought we had to be in her conversation as she was yelling across my table to the table on the other side of me as if I had the desire to hear her story. I didn't, and I felt very awkward as our conversation was interrupted by this rude behavior. I wish it was the old Milton's, but it's not. You will have decent food but not the same as before, an awkward wait while there are open tables and employees choosing to walk past you instead of ask how many you're with. Just a poorly run place that needs to focus more on doing their job than acting like it's their hangout spot. read more

Wanted to try this place because I am so sick of chains & want to support local establishments so they stick around. There were approx 10 patrons in the restaurant. Our server took awhile to greet us until we finally enquired on who would be helping us. This wasn't a big deal at the time but should've been an omen of what was to come. Ordered our drinks & meals. They came quickly. We ate all our food, finished our drinks & waitress "Lilly" never came back or looked in our direction while the entire time standing at front counter (not helping anyone & seemingly on phone). I finally waved down the friendly busser for our tab. I asked Lilly why she never bothered to check back on us. She snapped that she was busy closing, "it's just food" & " this is America". Never had worse service in my life & confused why one should not expect minimum service in America. I told the person who looked to be in charge & they seemed not to care because they asked no questions & said "have a good night". I will never go back & would advise people to stay away from establishments that treat customers like they could care less that they are there. I was planning on buying gift cards for the Holidays but I would not put my friends & family through a similar experience. Milton's has quickly established itself as a a comfy, delicious favorite for so many reasons. First, it's family run and owned by great people. The staff are always friendly. Christian is awesome!!! It can be a busy, which sometimes makes things a little slow like any restaurant. Ok, while the people are amazing, the food is certainly a star of the show. Sorry, Christian and team! Their smoked Cajun chicken with beans and rice is mouth watering, tender goodness. It's comfort food all year round. Plus, I love taking the leftovers (as the portions are generous) and tossing them into a salad or making tacos. Mmmm Feeling fancy? Get the ribs with Mac and cheese. The homemade Mac and cheese is a creamy decadent wonderland. Pair it with smoked ribs that are perfectly tender but still sick on the bone satisfying, some of the sesame seasoned kale, and a glass of red wine and you'll forget you're in a strip mall in New Hope. Honestly, the cozy decor and soundtrack helps there, too! I could write a novel about so many other menu items, including the rotating specials (with covid not sure of availability right now), the ever so comforting jerk chicken Mac and cheese, matzo ball soup, the crispy smoked wings, the rib nachos ... the desserts... but really you just have to go. This is a cute gem in the most random place. They have a large patio and adorable décor inside with even more seating. I have to add how cute the fish water pitchers were! The staff were generous and friendly. We came here for dinner and shared all of these vittles: pork nachos, shrimp & grits, jerk mac-n-cheese and a salad. I think the jerk mac and shrimp grits were our favorites. They had a lot of flavor and were different than what you find on most dinner menus around town. The drink menu looked fun as well, however, we just had a delicious pinot wine. I would love to come here again! read more

Stopped by with the family last night, had their special, salmon and grits with coconut sauce. Very good, a little too salty for me but still very good. The food has always been consistently good here but what is really top notch, is the staff. The staff have always bent over backwards to accommodate us, my brother uses a powered wheelchair which can be difficult in small spaces.
