I was so happy to find Miltes (the seamstress). I'm not very tall and whenever I buy pants, they tend to drag on the ground behind me. Of course I could just roll them up, but that doesn't look very neat. When I bring my pants to Milrich - I know that they'll be hemmed to the correct height and the price can't be beat. Miltes was able to make a beautiful daybed cover for me (in photo). It's for a hospital bed that may not be used for quite a while and instead of seeing it everyday and getting depressed, our family decided to make it into a daybed. I needed a winter coat completely relined - sleeves & body. I looked for places near Acton, but wasn't too impressed with the reviews for shops in my area. I went to a few alterations shops near me, but after speaking with the seamstress/tailor, I decided to continue my search. I was NOT looking for a lower price: I was looking for someone I thought would be up to the task of doing an excellent job on this (20-year-old!) coat, which was not inexpensive. Natick is a 45-minute drive my house, but after reading the reviews for Milrich, I decided to send them an email describing what I needed to have done, to see if they'd be interested in doing it. Well, Miltes wrote back immediately, & said she'd be happy to do the job & she could have it ready before Christmas, which is what I'd hoped for. I brought the coat in to her & we discussed the job, & I left feeling confident. Fast-forward to about a week later when I returned for my treasured coat. YAY! Looks brand new (on the inside), and I'm beyond delighted. Both times that I was in her shop, there were other clients there, & they all raved to me about the incredible work Miltes does, telling me that they'd been coming to her for many years. She is phenomenal! I first had her alter a bridesmaid dress for me (hemming and inserting cups for support in the front as it was a low back dress and a bra was not an option), and I was very nervous about the cups as they never look natural in dresses. She worked with me giving me options and the final product exceeded all expectations. They looked natural and left me feeling supported and lifted all night. Also, she checked the hem twice to make sure it was as perfect as possible. She has a great attention to detail and makes sure you leave her place satisfied. Since then I use her for everything - adjusting the sleeve length on coats, hemming pants, and tailoring shirts for my husband - all done expertly and at a GREAT price. This lady is talented. I bought some fabric from a nearby supplier and asked them for a recommendation. Went to Milrich and asked her if she would make me a bench cushion and pillows. Apparently she's never done this before and was honest about that but I wasn't deterred. I was confident she would do a great job and she did. Everyone who comes over loves my window seat/bench! Great tailor and seamstress. My wife and I have used her for alterations and the work is always high quality at a reasonable price. She sewed blackout liners onto the back of a set of curtains for our son's room. We called several tailors in the area and she was the only one that would take this job.
