I've now used the mobile clinic several times for cleanings, X-rays, and routine examinations. The dentist and the entire staff are kind, knowledgeable, thorough, and genuinely compassionate. Two decades of trust, undone by couple adminstrative phone calls I've been a patient at Smile Design for over 20 years(with some breaks in between due to my employment) and have genuinely liked the doctors, especially Dr. Puneet Sandhu. That long history is exactly why this experience stung -- and why I'm warning others before they sign anything here. I came in for a minor toothache. They recommended a crown replacement, but first sent me to a specialist for a root canal. I trusted their judgment and went ahead. Few weeks later, I returned for the crown and was quoted ~$500 out of pocket after insurance. A few weeks after the work was done, an administrative staff member called -- with zero apology in her voice -- to tell me the real cost was actually ~$1,500. An extra $1,000, out of nowhere. Their explanation? The root canal had "used up a lot of my coverage." After 20+ years in this business, doing root canal-then-crown combinations is routine -- insurance verification for something this common should have happened before treatment, not six weeks after the fact when I had no way to plan for it. When I pushed back(logically with facts-&-dates), they admitted their error and cut the extra charge in half. But instead of an apology, I got the administrative rep repeatedly steering me back to the fine print of the contract I'd signed before treatment. Insensitive first. Unapologetic second. Genuinely offensive third, being asked more than once if I'd "read the fine print" -- as if that absolved them of doing their own due diligence. It felt like someone rear-ending my car, admitting fault, and still handing me half the repair bill.... & gave me no choice but to pay. My advice: if you're getting anything beyond a basic cleaning here, verify your own coverage with your insurance before you sign anything. Don't rely on their estimates. Their billing team will not hesitate to double or triple a quote after the fact -- and when you object, they'll just point you back to the paperwork. This review is not abt their doctors. read more

I recently moved to Milpitas and was looking for a new dental office. This was the first office that popped up on my Yelp, so I decided to take a chance. I called to set up my very first appointment, and everything was smooth. The person helping me was nice, answered all of my questions, and ensured my experience wouldn't be the same as my previous experience at a different dental office. This practice has a parking lot; however, it is not outlined on Apple Maps. When I pulled up to the destination on my Apple Maps, I saw a big driveway and pulled into it. The spots that have a sign are for patients only. Van, the dental hygienist, started me off with my bwx and cleaning. She was conversing with me, getting to know me and my dental history, and informing me of the specific things I should do to improve my dental care. After she finished, I was able to briefly meet Dr. Sandhu, the owner of this practice. She was very kind and went over a little bit of my treatment plan. For my checkout, I was helped by Sandy, the office manager, and she was very informative about my treatment, insurance, and payment. She told me that the practice was in network, so I wouldn't have to worry about hidden or surprise charges like my last dental office. She helped set up my appointment for my cavity treatment. Making this appointment was a little difficult, though, as they have dedicated days for specific things. I believe the first Thursday of the month is dedicated to oral surgeries. Then the doctor who would give me treatment is only available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I usually like to get treatment done asap, but it is understandable, as a lot of practices have specific treatments for certain days based on the specialized doctor's schedule. read more

In the last couple of years I get really nervous about going to the dentist, especially with my super sensitive teeth, but they make the experience so warm, comforting, and soothing. Dr Sandhu and her team did an implant and crown for me. I can't feel any difference between the new implant and my natural tooth. The fit is perfect. Amazing dentist and team! When you first arrive, you are greeted by the lovely front office team. After waiting for like 5 minutes, the hygienist takes you back for your cleaning. The whole cleaning process was smooth and enjoyable. During your cleaning, there is Netflix provided for your viewing pleasure. It was literally Netflix&Chill. Suffering from a horrible phobia of dental offices/dentist has disabled me to the point that I have stayed away from the Dentist for well over a decade. I was introduced to this office from a Veteran's Appreciation day. Dr. Sandhu offered complimentary service to needing vets and that is a BIG deal to honor those who protect this country. Dr Sandhu has the latest equipment, wonderful technique, a sweet and joyful spirit, and a convenient location. The hygienists have been there a long time, which speaks to the character of the dentist, and have very skilled hands and technique. The dental assistants are also very good and provide excellent chair side assistance to Dr. Sandhu. The front desk staff are very helpful, patient, and handle much activity well. Last year I turned 26 which means that I could no longer be on my parents insurance plan. I signed up with an HMO through my work which was a big mistake! Since this happened during Covid-19 I didn't realize the full affects until I started looking for a dentist when things began to open up. I called multiple dentist office which turned me down for having an HMO plan. Sandy answered the phone when I called Milpitas Smile Design. Immediately I could tell she was different than the other offices I had called. She didn't look down on me for having an HMO plan. I asked how much the services would be for a cleaning and xray of my teeth without insurance. The price was more reasonable than I expected! As fate would have it they had an appointment open for 2 days after I called. I am so happy I made the appointment! I was seen by Dr. Tran who is AMAZING. The best dentist that I have ever been to! She is such a friendly and kind individual. I hate to say it but I hadn't been to a dentist in far too long, years. She never passed judgement on me for that. She also explained everything that she was doing when cleaning my teeth. When I went up to the front to pay Tammy was nice enough to let me know what my options were in terms of insurance. When my open enrollment comes up next month I will ensure that I get a plan where I can keep coming here. For years I've been holding off visiting a dental office simply because I dislike the idea of someone looking inside my mouth. Silly, right? Finally, it was time to man up and go! A friend had recommended this place so I thought I'd try it out since it was close by my apartment. Making an appointment with them was easy and it's great they give you a reminder call a day before your appointment. They have their own parking lot and check-in was quick. First time patients register via a tablet. The waiting room is small but comfortable with beverages and magazines provided to make the time pass. However, I didn't have to wait long before I was called into the medical room. There, I was introduced to Moneyra, the dental hygienist. She was extremely friendly and didn't scold me for not visiting the dentist after all these years. She informed me I would need a deep cleaning due to my lack of dental check-ups and numbed my mouth. I can't stand needles so I kept my eyes shut anticipating the dreadful shot but Moneyra always warned me when the needle will make contact and made it quick. After that, it was smooth sailing! Each room had a smart TV and I was offered to watch anything I wished on Netflix. The Great British Baking Show definitely kept me distracted during the cleaning! Once the cleaning was over, Moneyra gave a bottle of special mouthwash for me to use at home and I then met Dr. Sandhu. Dr. Sandhu was very kind and took her time explaining the structure of my teeth and if I needed any other dental procedures (no cavities or root canals for me, woot woot). I then met Linh who led me to another room and explained the billing part of my visit. He thoroughly explained my insurance and how much they covered which is nice because I know a lot of people have questions regarding their insurance. Overall, I had a fantastic visit. Just got my veneers here and I love them! I was definitely nervous from beginning to the end of the entire process but Dr. Yim made me feel comfortable and explained any questions I had.
