My family has been patients with Dr. Sandhu and her staff since my daughter was young. As a you g mother with a fussy child that had a deep fear of needles, Dr. Sandhu was not only patient with my child, but tucked away all her fears about being hurt. She doesn't such an amazing job, we've come back every year since. I've made sure that when asked where a great dentist is, I always recommend this office. Now with that said, this is the best dentistry I have ever been too. I feel like a family member when I'm in the environment. I recently had a wisdom tooth removed from the specialist that comes once a month. My Doctor, Doctor Yim came to talk to me about my family and my baby which I often bring with me for there enjoyment. I know Doctor Sandhu gets a lot of attention at this dentistry as she should but, Doctor Yim is very nice and cares about her patients, and the most important thing is she has soft hands, which is extremely important as a dentist. read more

The staff was kind, Dr. Sandhu was kind and understanding but her method of cleening teeth is quite painful. I assumed the first time was just to be thorough but I did go a second time and painful again. The "older method" is using the rubber disc with a dremmel like tool, which has never been painful when any dentist has used it. The "new method" that Dr. Sandhu uses is a forced water device called a water pick I think, that feels like its actually damaging your gums while its in use. I am sure it not damaging and is quite safe as more dentists are going this route. Its too painful I will drive further and go back to my old dentist. read more

I went there for my yearly teeth cleaning today. I almost went to Aesthetic Dental except they were not considerate about my tight schedule. The place was empty and the reception area, I guess would be nice if they put some room freshner...but otherwise the receptionist was friendly and I was looking forward to my appointment. We started 20 mins late, but once inside, I was very comfortable. Dr Puneet is excellent. One thing I really liked about her that unlike other dentists, she didn't make me feel that my teeth are worst in the world, nor did she push for any kind of alternative therapy or package. OK, when they say pain-free dentistry they really meant it. Over the past 16 years, I have had several cavities, braces work, and regular cleaning appointments at Milpitas Smile Design. Dr. Sandhu and Dr. Yim have treated my entire family over the years too. Every visit is a pleasant experience. Kids are a good litmus test when it comes to being comfortable visiting a dentist and my boys hardly ever have a complaint (except when they don't get to finish their movie on the monitor). I have recommended several friends to Dr. Sandhu and everyone has been very satisfied with the Doctors and their staff. Although 16 years ago I initially chose Dr. Sandhu because of proximity from my house, I still continue to go there even though I have moved to another city 10 miles away. They are very thorough and upfront with insurance and out of pocket expense requirements and never pressure you into doing anything you are not ready for or comfortable with. This was a motivating factor for me to stick with Milpitas Smile Design. I had my first visit here a few weeks ago due to my best friend's recommendation of this office. I hadn't been to a dentist in about two or three years because I did not like my last hygienist at my previous dental office and I was searching for the perfect place to make me feel comfortable. When I called to make the appointment, the receptionist was extremely helpful and accommodating to my scheduling needs. Upon entry, I was greeted with smiles and a warm welcome. As many would say, I always hated going to the dentist...until I came here. The staff is incredibly nice, the doctor is very professional, and the procedures are almost always painless. The location is very convenient relative to major highways and their scheduling accommodates weekends. As most other places, they play movies while you're there, provide magazines and minor amenities (e.g. water, coffee, etc.) which is cool. Even though I don't have any kids, I take my 2 year old nephew with me sometimes and there is a whole slew of toys for him to play with; the staff does a great job of entertaining him while I'm being attended to as well. Today has been a very unfortunate day. As a professional in health care, I first hand know what it is to have customer service & patient care. We started at Dr. Sandhu's office for my daughters sake, she was her first dentist. She then became the families dentist as well. I appreciated her gentleness towards my daughter but the fact that I would have to return to get fillings redone was a bit upsetting. The only reason we would return was in hope that we could grow years of calling Dr. Sandhu our family dentist for years to come. The front desk was friendly but I noticed that when she brought on more staff is when the customer service began to lack. Specifically Juana & Denise (close personal friends) were very friendly but then we saw a change and decrease in customer satisfaction, which was a red flag . Our family continued other services such as Invisalign (which I highly do not recommend to anyone). I found out that the mold is the same for every patient when that cannot be possible. After finishing my Invisalign treatment, Dr. Sandhu refused to give me a discount or offer other services. I was having terrible headaches & neck pain from the Invisalign. I also let that go. As of today I was a $0 balance patient & I just so happen to forget my wallet, which my husband was on his way to bring but when I suggested they bill me, they refused. But the fact that they made it clear that due to my history, I would have to pay in full at the time of service made you feel awful. Once again, over $69 the front desk ladies made an effort to make you feel awful. Definitely not a place of relief but of discomfort. Anyone in customer service should be humble, loving, caring & most of all make you feel like you're appreciated. The sad part about all of this is at the end of the day when speaking with Dr. Sandhu & requesting a simple apology by both Juana & Denise she stated " I would have to review the situation" being that she had already spoken to her for 10 mins about our situation. The right thing to have done was, simply apologized but that wasn't the case. I am not one to write a review but in this case, I feel it's important I share my experience so others don't feel the same. I am hopeful that this may also be constructive criticism and hope for a better staff or change of the current staff. When you see any type of medical physician, you want to feel good not feel horrible. What happened to, "the customer is always right!" My apologies for offending anyone especially Dr. Sandhu but ultimately, she decides who she hires and like I told her, it's only hurting your reputation & office. I could go on & on such as point out the their dress code unprofessional & how while waiting in the wait room, other patients were being spoken to with such a demeanor but I would prefer to highlight on the above mentioned. 2 stars because the whole experience with my wife and I was definitely below avg compared to other dentists we've gone to over the years. We came here because of the good yelp reviews, but with a dentist there are so many different things that you might see one for, it's really difficult to know if a person's good review of one procedure will carry over to the ones that you need. First, I will say that the doctor and all staff are very friendly. But unfortunately, you're not going to the dentist for a social event, you're going to get your teeth fixed; and friendliness will only take you so far if you don't have the skills to back them up. My experience with a cleaning and having one tooth filled was fine. They had a coupon for a $1 exam and cleaning which is nice. They also reduced the price of the filling a little bit since I don't have dental insurance. Again, this was very nice and I give them points for that. I think every dentist I've ever gone to did this so it's good to know that Milpitas Smile Design does this too. One thing I didn't particularly care for was the way the dentist tried to upsell me on a bunch of extra work. She said that I had one cavity and then in the next breath that I needed like 10 fillings. That kind of confused me at the time but sitting there with a mouthful of fingers and dental instruments, I thought maybe I misheard her. Then when I got the "work order" at the desk it had all of these extra fillings listed on it. (I don't remember the exact number but it was 8-10 or so.) I asked why these were all there because the dentist just said that I only had one cavity. Turns out that these were what I guess you'd call cosmetic fillings (but you can't even see them) because apparently my gumline has receded about a millimeter or two from where it was originally. The thing is, these filling were not even noted as being totally an upsell/addon and not even necessary. My gumline has been this was for years and no other dentist had ever suggested this work before. That's why I didn't like that they just tried to slip this work in as if I wouldn't even notice. I understand that this is a business for the dentist, but suggesting unnecessary work seems a bit unethical. It's not like a waiter trying to sell you a top-shelf margarita, this is my body we're talking about---not to mention $1000+ dollars or work. Now here's where it gets really bad...my wife's work. She needed a bridge replaced. There was a big gap in it between the bridge and gum and food was getting stuck in it and it was cutting her tongue. The bridge was supposed to be ready in two weeks. It wasn't. Then a few weeks later they call and say that they needed to make a new mold of the teeth (not admitting that the doctor had messed up the first one.) So she went in to get the second mold taken. Then delay after delay. Long story short, after 2 months my wife still didn't have her new bridge. (It was originally supposed to have been done in 2 weeks.) Finally she gets a new bridge and it doesn't fit right! There's still the gap that the old one had which is the reason for it needing to be replaced. The doctor had made a new bridge with the same problem as the old bridge! And to make it worse she couldn't even recognize that this was a problem. Her excuse was that she had taken an exact mold of the teeth and that it was not her fault. She couldn't seem to comprehend that my wife didn't come in to get an exact copy of a problem bridge, she came in to get a bridge that fit correctly. So they go back and forth a few times, the doctor still can't understand what the problem is. Apparently she doesn't see having food constantly stuck under the bridge in a way that it can't be removed, and having a bridge that cuts your tongue is a problem! So since the dentist can't figure this out and can't even see that there's a problem, they make my wife drive 40 miles to the lab to have the lab work on it directly. As soon as the lab technician looks in my wife's mouth she sees the problem. Then in 2 hours the lab tech has the bridge fixed and fitted properly. All through months of trying to get the bridge fixed, the staff and the dentist kept blaming the lab and never would take personal responsibility or even apologize for the problems. The staff was friendly up until the point there was a problem and then they went into denial and blame mode (including blaming my wife, as if she'd done something wrong.) The doctor would say that she wanted to make sure my wife was satisfied, but she was completely unable to do so because she could not even see that a problem existed, even when literally staring it right in the face. So the bottom line is this...Dr. Sandhu can probably do a decent job for you on simple fillings and cleanings (but watch out for the upsells.) But she is young and obviously does not have the experience or the skills to handle more complicated work like bridges. read more

I have to say that one of my most compromising mistakes was getting dental work done here. The staff is friendly as all hell, and the enviornment is welcoming; I especially loved the fact that I could watch my choice of film while getting my work done. However, I once had 7 cavities filled here... and ever sense have had tons more. I don't know... my new dentist says this is because I have a really high threshold for pain and don't notice when I've got a small cavity like most people. Which is quite possible... none the less... I wont be coming back here. I really don't know if this dentist should be trusted. read more

One of the best dentists I've been to. I'm always afraid of the numbing injections you get when cavities are filled. Here, I can barely feel a thing. And the staff is a while lot of fun. I'm no longer afraid of the dentist, and surprisingly even look forward to my appointments. Only negative is that traffic around the great mall can be bad.
