I've recently gone to get two fillings re-done so I figured I'd update my review, and my last note for this place was in 2017 (omg...how has it almost been ten years....), but the five stars still stand! The office is still clean, the assistants and receptionists are still charming and nice, and the doctor is still warm and educational. I still get nervous every time I go (I can't help it), and my blood pressure is always high every time I enter the office. They are very gentle and understanding with me, and give me time to decompress before they start any cleanings or procedures. Im still quite sensitive to any sort of mouth pain so even for a regular cleaning, they give me some numbing gel and its the best thing ever, makes all cleanings a breeze. Dr Shah has been my dentist since 2014. she has been not only a great dentist for me.. she was the only one who figured out WHY my kid was getting frequent ear infection, feeding troubles etc.. something that my kids pediatrician or the n number of other specialists did not figure out. I woke up Saturday morning from the tootache from hell- excrucating pain in one of my front molars. I could not even bite down. Let's just say waking up at the crack of dawn to go to the dentist is not the most ideal way to spend the day. I went to my general dentist and they stated that they could do nothing since it was a Saturday and could not locate a root canal specialist even though they were the ones that plugged the infected tooth. I was left to locate a root canal specialist on my own. I came across Pearl Smile Dental and they stated that they would help me. I went and was in absolute pain. Dr. Ishita managed to find a root canal specialist to assist me with my pain. Not only that, she sat there with the most amazing empathy, care, and support as I sobbed. She gave me medicine and numbed my tooth so I could eat something before my 3rd dentist visit that day to start the root canal process. We had good experience with this business service so far. We were searching around few dentist offices over the past few years for the right service, apparently this office is promising the best so far. We did try Pannu Dental Fremont and. some other, had not. so good outcome. Root Canal here I come! I am the queen of dental work, having genetically weak teeth, I've had my fair share of root canals and so fourth so you can imagine my fears of going to the dentist. Dr. Shah has a super calm demeanor and reassures you she will do whatever it takes to properly anesthetize you locally. So far I was impressed with my root canal NO PAIN! I'm the biggest chicken too when it comes to needles in the mouth... I notice her technique with intra palate shots (so local anesthesia not only outer tooth nerve but inside the upper palate) works like a charm where I literally felt nothing I can hear drilling but felt no pain whatsoever. She is very gentle and explains everything of the procedure, costs and basically no surprises. I'm happy with her and would highly recommend her, her office staff is awesome also, they actually call you and ask how you are feeling after a filling, which adds a nice touch to go above and beyond. After my root canal, 3 hours later, Dr. Shah calls me to make sure how I was feeling after the anesthetic wore off and followed up on antibiotics and meds to take. This is one of the worst dental clinic i have visited maintained by indian dentists just to snatch the money either from you/from insurance. In my case, though we went for deep cleaning, they did normal cleaning and again suggesting for deep clearn after 2 weeks to get the money. Another instance, though my wife has to go for root-canal which they don't have in their clinic, instead of suggesting/directly asking us to go for root-canal, they did the filling and then again suggesting us to go to root-canal to another clinic. I never see this type of very cheap mentality of doctors to snatch money from patients in bay area. doctors in india do like this and these people are doing the same here. read more

I am visiting pearl smile for the past 7 years. I usually get routine cleaning & deep cleaning , but recently my permanent retainer started coming off so the teeth started wobbly and I contacted Dr. Ishita to get an urgent appointment and got it the next day & doctor fixed it like a magic !!! I got great relief - my smile & confidence back to me . The important thing I want to say is I had deep cleaning appointments & this repair in this pandemic situation because I much needed them and they take utmost care starting from Covid check questionnaire, letting one patient at a time from parking, temperature check , using hydrogen peroxide solution for mouthwash, using several air purifiers , sanitizing room , floor etc. Receptionist & doctors are wearing several layers of gowns, masks , face shield etc.. very safe to go ! I have been visiting Dr Ishita Shah for 3 years now. There are several reasons that make me comfortable visiting at this clinic. The most important is doctors approach to preserve the natural tooth. I have upper right corner tooth that she has been monitoring from 3 yrs and so far hasn't deteriorated with just the right crown cap. Their front staff is very welcoming and accommodating. The staff is thorough with the insurance and upfront about any out of pocket cost. The facility is clean and looks fresh, I'd recommend this clinic to all. The dental practice was advertising $59 for new patients which includes exam, xray, and cleaning. Pretty good steal to try out a new dentist! Called to make an appointment and was able to get in the next morning. Their receptionist is very pleasant. There's about 3-4 pages to fill out. There's one page in particular that mentioned no show/cancellation fees. First time I've seen this at a dental practice with fee breakdowns! I never cancel unless it's urgent so this bothered me a bit to have to pay if I couldn't make it. The technology they use is pretty up-to-date. Xray only took a little over 5 minutes and I only had to bite down like 5 times (not like older xrays where they jam their xray device around your mouth a kajillion times at different angles) Was moved over to a new seat and Dr. Shah was very nice! Her "bedside" manners was awesome. She examined my tooth and showed me on her TV monitor areas that needed attention. Although she wasn't pushy, she did try to recommend me on the idea of getting a crown (on a tooth that I have no issues on). Teeth was cleaned thoroughly and later polished by her assistant. They gave a goody bag too! Mini toothpaste, mouthwash, floss, and regular size toothbrush. Beware! Dr. Ishita was a very nice lady but she recommended 4 unnecessary crown treatments for me. I went in because she is open on Saturdays and my normal dentist was booked for weeks. I had an older filling which fell out. She recommended a crown for that tooth, and then also recommended three other crowns. I was a bit shocked since my regular dentist had never recommended this before and I never had a crown before but I wanted to get my tooth fixed. I got the first crown done, the anesthetic shots were much more painful than normal and I usually don't mind shots at all. She took a whole bunch of X-rays after the crown was in which seemed unnecessary, instead she could have just looked into my mouth a bit more. Also, the crown was a bit large so she shaved down my existing tooth on the opposite side to make it fit which doesn't seem right! Then I continued to feel some aches after the procedure even after a few weeks. So I went to my regular dentist for a second opinion. My dentist said I didn't need any crowns, rather my other filling which chipped could just be replaced. As for one of the other crowns which were recommended for an old filling (which wasn't giving me any problems) and she said there was a small cavity forming, my dentist said it is just some staining on my tooth!! All can say is her recommendations would have maxed out my dental insurance and would have cost me $2.4k out of pocket! They booked all these appointments during my first visit! During my visit I also heard another patient who had crowns being done. If that is you, perhaps a second opinion may be considered? I wanted to trust this dental office because of good yelp reviews but I am more than disappointed. read more

I went to see Dr. Ishita two times. The first time I need a dental cleaning. She cleaned it very well. During the regular annual Xray, she showed me I have a few cavities that need taken care of. We agreed upon a treatment plan during which she never forced or pushed any treatments on me. I felt very comfortable discussing my needs with her and the office manager Sharon. I went back two weeks later to finish my treatments. It was the same high standard service. Dr. Ishita is on time, carefully explaining to me what exactly she would do now and later during the treatment. She also constantly made sure I am not in a lot of pain during the treatment. I am very happy with both of my visits. I highly recommend this place to someone who is looking for a great dentist. read more

The overall clinic experience from appointment to doctor is organized, engaging and satisfying. Dr. Ishita is very knowledgeable and work is at very high level of satisfaction. She is always very gentle while doing cleaning, filling etc., I visit her for my regular visit for first time and with X-Rays she found out that I need gum surgery. She explained the problem and possible solutions. After I complete my surgery from a specialist, she scheduled me for every 3 months appointment for cleaning and check up. In addition, Sharon is very friendly, nice person and top of her work. She would always call reminder before two weeks and few days before your appointment. I gave 5 stars to Pearl Smile because they earned it. The parking is decent and the office (which is on the first floor) is pretty spacious and seemed well organized. The staff (Sharon and the x-ray technician) were courteous and sweet. The clinic is extremely clean and hygienic. Dr. Ishita did cleaning for my husband today and x-ray with consultation for me( We both scheduled for deep cleaning and fillings for later). I couldnt ask for more, really nice doctor and the staff is very amicable, and they do remember names so well, i really liked my overall experience. I heard about Dr.Ishita Shah on Radio, and as it was really close to my home, i got enrolled as a new patient. Sharon was amazing in doing it, i got my son too get in, and they are great with the kids, my son loved his first visit (2 year old), they are patient with the kids, as well as make them feel really comfortable.
