This place should be shut down!! I wasn't old enough to talk about my experience when it was happening, but I am reminded of how much trauma he put me through every time I look in the mirror. I saw Dr. Wadden young, I think he put me in my first bar at 7. I had braces for years, they gave me a herbst appliance for 9 months when I was in 5th grade which has left horrible circle bits outlined in my cheeks, and then I had rubber bands so crazy I couldn't open my mouth. I was in 7th grade when I had finally gotten them off, I thought the pain was done. I had moved, and my braces were off I never had to see him again!! (Little did I know he sent a little "fiberotomy" over to my new dentist that cut the fibers around my gums so they wouldn't move back, that dentist had never done one before and said they were abnormal to see done, but my parents waved ahead and that was so entirely painful) That all and all doesn't sound the most horrible, but what I left out was that he also used to hold appointments to lazer my gums without any numbing. I had so many times where they scheduled me in the mornings, alone, before other patients, because I would scream from being in so much pain. Every appointment was painful, truly and utterly painful. My gums were bloody and red after every appointment, sometimes just from molar braces brackets being pushed over and over onto the teeth, then being told to just rinse with salt and water. I was horrified of this man. When I thought I was done I went into another orthodontics office where I moved to get a retainer and the lady CRIED when she saw my mouth. Looking at my history, they were horrified. Back in braces I went because some of my teeth were way up high and the other side was low, for being in braces my whole life and so much pain I shouldn't have had a messed up mouth!!!!! At that time, my parents called Wadden's Orthodontic Office frusterated, and the office settled with them and paid them a grand which went back to braces and said "it's the best they could do". Me personally, between the trauma of those appointments, leading to bad results, it's sparked an entire lifelong battle both in my mouth and mentally, that I will always have to deal with. Do not take your kids here, they can't speak up for themselves. Do not let them take advantage of you, your wallet, or your kid. read more

However, some of the other workers there were being very rude and couldn't apply my son's wires correctly. Overall, I recommend this place for braces. I like this place. We're currently taking my ten year old there for teeth straightening. For one set price, you get essentially everything to do with braces. But at bay area, one bracket fell off suddenly, which made me uncomfortable. I was anxious and found a local dentist to see if they can do something for me. I came to Dr. Tran & Dr. Wadden at 18 with a ugly underbite and crossbite and no confidence. At 21 now, I've gone through a maxillofacial surgery and braces for 2.5 years. Dr. Tran and all the staff did an AMAZING job at not only giving me an amazing smile, but also keeping me comfortable and welcomed for every appointment that i had scheduled! They do cute activities for the holiday as well as have a rewards program for patients, on top of that you'll get a warm welcome from every nurse, staff, doctor that's there with recognition and all. I am increasingly impressed after each visit! The lack of yelp reviews (at the time of this review 9 total) is not an indicator of their services, which are SUPERB, however, the 5-star rating is definitely on par. Their facility is comfortable and modern. Lots of big windows with natural light that makes for a more relaxing appointment. You receive email reminders of appointments, you check-in for your appointments via computer, and your file pulls up on a monitor in the station you will be worked on. Very efficient! Seriously, their equipment and technology is a direct reflection of the excellent care you will receive here. The initial appointment is the most thorough and impressive consultation I've received. They cover all bases, not just the functional aspect of your teeth, but also the aesthetic value that a great smile brings to your appearance. After my braces were installed, LOL, they had me watch an instructional video of proper care. Awesome, because I'm a visual person. I had braces eons ago, when I was in elementary school, and I really appreciate how they tell and show you exactly what they are doing to your teeth each visit. The staff is absolutely wonderful. My most recent visit had me anxious since I hadn't been back here in over 10 years, but I needed a new wire to replace the lowers of my front teeth. I'm a registered nurse and I understand that building a good rapport with patients and walking them through the steps of what you are doing helps to make them feel included and less anxious. While I was here, I was in shock at how little communication was provided to me as I was getting this new wire fitted. First off, as the assistant was removing the adhesive off the back of my teeth, Dr. Wadden had stepped in and proceeded to remove the rest. He stated that I would be receiving a new wire that would only cover two teeth, which confused me. I thought I would be either having the old wire that was used to hold my teeth in place placed back in, or a new wire would be used to hold the lower front teeth. I didn't think I would just be having 2 teeth covered and I didn't understand what that meant, but I couldn't ask him since he left and attended to other patients. I also couldn't speak because the residual pieces of adhesive that had been scraped off were floating around in my mouth and I was trying not to swallow them. After I had picked them out with my hand, the assistant came back and she proceeded to try and fit this new wire into my mouth, asked her to clarify what size the wire was and what did Dr. Wadden mean when he said it would only cover two teeth to make flossing easier. As I was trying to ask her for clarification, I even said that I wouldn't mind having the retainer done the same way it was done 10 years ago when I was last here because I was so used to it anyway, but she proceeded to keep inserting the wire into my mouth and keep me from speaking. She wasn't providing me a clear answer and after going back and forth a few times, as she continued trying to insert the wire, I had to wave her hands away from my face and assertively tell her to stop. As this was going on Dr. Wadden was sitting next to us with another patient and never got up to check in and see if I was doing ok or offer to explain what they were going to do. The other dental assistant that was with Dr. Wadden with the patient next to us, had to ask my dental assistant to wait until Dr. Wadden was finished before continuing on with my wire retainer. I assumed that once he was finished he would come over and at least show me the wire and explain to me how long it was and what he had meant that it would only cover two teeth to make flossing easier. He came over but only continued to fit the wire and adjust it to my teeth. At that point, he left again. I was so upset and I felt like I wasn't being heard, that when the dental assistant came back, she asked if Dr. Wadden had explained everything to me. I said no he didn't, and I thought that was the whole reason why he had come over again was to explain the process. She then started to explain everything more in detail that the wire would be just as long as my previous wire, but thicker and that the ends of both sides of the wire would be adhered to my teeth. That's it. I couldn't believe that it had taken that long to just receive that explanation. I wish that I had been debriefed about it beforehand, and had gotten a chance to visualize the wire with my own eyes, but I hadn't known that my experience would be like this and I wasn't even sure if I had an option to have my wire retainer done the same way from before. When they were finished, I just wanted to leave immediately. I felt disrespected as a patient and as a human being because I know as someone who works in healthcare that I would make sure to include the patient in the overall plan of care, to advocate for them, provide constant communication and make them feel comfortable through situations they may be unfamiliar with. I didn't appreciate that the assistant and Dr. Wadden would briefly talk to each other, but not educate me at the same time. I don't ever post reviews, but I felt I had to voice this experience to hopefully change how one handles patients under their practice more respectfully. You should never forget to be a human to another human no matter how long or much experience one has gained in their profession. read more

At the time I was shopping around for an Orthodontist and was choosing between Dr. Nancy Phan from San Jose, CA and Dr. Wadden in Milpitas. Dr. Wadden was very thorough with my consultation . There was also no wait period ! For example, face measurements were taken with Dr. Wadden, which the other Orthodontist did not do. I was given the option of Invisalign and to have no teeth extracted with Dr. Nancy Phan. However, due to my teeth crowding Dr. Wadden suggested I have teeth removed and explained to me the possible outcomes of not having teeth removed etc. I was fine with that. Fast forward--I am currently a patient of Dr. Wadden and so far it has been almost two months into my braces and a great experience! His RDA's are talkative and super friendly including the accommodating front staff. Dr. Wadden can come off as a quiet person but I know he is the only Orthodontist there and is focused with his work, because it can get busy there. Anyways, my teeth has been moving quite fast . I've known Dr. Wadden for the past 18 years, and he's done work on me, my sister, and my mother. All braces and fixing overbites of course. I think having 3 of our family members go to him is testament to how much we trust him and to how good our teeth look afterward! He has two offices, one in Milpitas and the other in Mountain View, and he alternates between them to spend 2 days in each location per week. I believe Fridays are off. I might date myself when I say that I met Dr. Tran way back when she was in dental school at UCLA. Years later, she helped my ex with Invisalign and, in comparing that service with my own experiences with braces, I sure regret that Dr. Tran wasn't my orthodontist. I had braces on for years before switching to another orthodontist who finally got the job done. But even that wasn't as quick, easy, and smooth of a process as the 3D printed Invisalign retainers I saw Dr. Tran create and monitor. Even though Dr. Tran has long moved out of my area (Los Angeles), I'm writing this review in gratitude because throughout the years I've known Dr. Tran, both personally and professionally, she's been the type of orthodontist I want my past self as well as my future children to have. Although the major work on my own mouth was done in my childhood, Dr. Tran has still examined my teeth over the years, pointing out issues with my bite and even recommending that I get a mouth guard to prevent my teeth from grinding at night while I sleep. When the second bottom-guard that my local dentist made for me broke, I reached out to Dr. Tran just to vent about the service I was receiving in Los Angeles and she creatively informed me that I could have a thicker bottom-guard made that would stand up to wear and tear. I relayed that back to my dentist and he followed her instructions. I've had a perfect, thicker mouth guard working perfectly ever since. I really wish I had spoken to Dr. Tran sooner, it would've saved me a lot of money. But that's the problem when she isn't in Los Angeles anymore!!! In any case, if you're reading this review and live in Milpitas, know that you've found yourself a jewel of an orthodontist. Dr. Tran is someone who is a perfectionist (almost to a fault). But she'll consider all of the what-ifs and really set you up to be several steps ahead of the game. In fact, her introduction to my current dentist, Dr. Drake in Santa Monica, has been the best referral I ever got. She's the type of person that having a conversation with before you even take your first step makes the entire rest of your journey smoother. What great staff and service! I'm in San Jose for work for the next two weeks. I left So Cal right after my ortho adjustment. Big mistake! On the plane ride, I realized the wire on the top left was poking and pinching my tongue. Talk about pain. The next day, I look up the nearest orthodontist with good reviews and the office of Dr. Gregory V. Wadden were able to schedule me in the same day. I was in and out of the office in 15 minutes and best thing - they didn't even charge me! Considering my appointment was pretty simple and didn't take much time - it was still a chair that was occupied so I expected some type of payment, but they told me I was good to go. On top of that, the assistant that fixed my wire also looked over my other wires and adjusted another one for me. It was bad experience doing my teeth at Wadden. The price was way more expensive it's 3k$ more expensive than all the other doctors I've quoted. I made wrong decisions to choose him to help my teeth because 1) they hurt my gums three times when adjusting braces or using tools during the procedure 2) one of my gum is totally receded because braces cut it and breaks it. 3) the whole preceding took 3+ years and the Doctor does not want to end it any time sooner. 4) my jaw moves towards left when I laugh I look like a pirate. read more

I requested a refund and the snippy front desk bitch who isn't a financial coordinator told me there's a fee that the bank charges them for a refund. Was transferred to the finance coordinator who agreed to give me back the money in full since it doesn't state anywhere that a cancellation charge of 6% is deducted out and it is questionable at the least since no treatment was even started to begin with so therefore its is a commonality of a business rule to just simply give a refund. Very questionable manner they had. I gave the benefit of the doubt and asked to have treatment again after realizing what I wanted and asked for a price reduction since i opted out for some work that was entailed in the original price. Therefore a price reduction is logical. The finance coordinator said she would discuss with Dr. Wadden after I told her my request and would call me back. So i gave another chance but should have suspected that she would rather just waste my time cos she had nothing better to do since she wouldn't want to call me right after discussing with him by saying she would give me a call in the morning. The staff refused to be professional and wasted time not getting back to me about what I wanted to know. So when the person finally let me know she stated that they wouldn't do treatment even though they said they would speak to Dr. Wadden about it. Yea thanks but would've great if you let me know by contacting me instead of wasting my time having me call in. So with that there was also no reason as to why he won't do any work on me. If the staff member even talked to him was questionable. If he really wanted to he would let me know himself however it just a case of low class cattiness and foolish from the staff. Its ok though since, luckily, I have an appointment sooner, and elsewhere. So. A fairly simple job to reschedule me in from staff members yet suuuuccchh a hassle to do it. How pitiful. We cannot thank Dr Wadden enough for helping us in the hour of need.Our daughter's head gear for her braces broke on July-4th and we had to catch a flight that night. We were going to be off for a few weeks and needed the head gear to be fixed or replaced. So we called up Dr Wadden on the morning of July-4th and explained the situation. He was kind enough to talk us through fixing it ourselves first and when we realized we needed his expertise, he actually called us to his office the same day and fixed it for us. We were so relieved to have one thing off of our minds while we were on vacation. Braces breaking might not sound like a big deal, but Dr. Wadden accommodating us even on a holiday was what blew me away. Not many people would do this. I wanted to update my review -- my braces are set to come off in a few weeks and the prognosis on my 4 upper incisors is now definitive...and then some. I am losing all 4 upper front teeth. And then just after getting my latest cbct this week, I find out I am probably losing my lowers due to the same kind of extreme resorption. Despite the extremely slow and gentle ortho my revision orthodontist has done on me, the damage was just already done when I came to him for retreatment. My entire revision team really tried with these teeth, and they are just as devastated as I am that I am not able to keep them. I am on the schedule with my surgeon to get the teeth extracted and the implant process started the week after my braces are off. Heck, it might just be the 3 that need extraction since one of the teeth is basically being held in by gum and arch wire. There is almost no root left in the bone. The other teeth are not that far behind it. Just when I thought what I went through couldn't get any more devastating, even now over two years later, I am STILL having to deal with new issues stemming from my first treatment. The extent of the damage from my first round of treatment just seems to never end. My septum that was deviated in my first surgery still needs to be fixed in a few months too. Most of this was avoidable, and it's incredibly unfortunate I am in this position now at 32 years old. That is way too young to lose this many teeth. To be fair, root resorption can largely be a biologic process and for some people it just happens no matter how light the force (but those cases are rare, and when they do happen, it's usually not to the severity of what I have. It's also the reason why xrays should be taken to monitor for these things, but I never had one the whole year I was in Dr. Waddens care leading in to surgery, even after my teeth became extremely loose). These are also the reasons why you sign away root resorption on risk/consent forms. Regardless, given everything else that happened to me and the forces and completely unnecessary movements I experienced during my treatment, I am pretty sure this isn't just my biology/genetics at play here and the resorption I have experienced was avoidable, or at least the severity to which it happened was avoidable. My surgeon has been practicing a long time and said he never sees resorption like this. Like so many other things that came from my first round of treatment, I think this was just another preventable casualty. As I said in my last review, I hope people do their research and get a good doctor. After going through retreatment with an absolutely fantastic set of doctors, I really kick myself all the time for my choices the first time. Don't make the same mistake I did. I'm literally going to be paying for this the rest of my life now. Dr. Wadden really cares about his patients. I had a wire that was severely poking me in the back and I couldn't apply wax to it because it was too far in the back, so i tried to clip the wire and remove it but there was a hook on the molar band that prevented me from doing so. Dr. Wadden doesn't usually work on Sundays, but he generously came into his office to replace and trim the wires even though he wasn't open. He's a great guy who continuously exceeds my expectations not just in service but is also a great man with a humorous and outgoing personality.
