Overall was an okay experience, caring optometrist and friendly receptionist. There were several surprises: 1. Optometrist having technical equipment issues 2. They charge for EVERYTHING like physical adjustments to any eye-glasses not purchased at this location, or shipping your contact lens to your home. 3. They also set up false shipping expectations claiming I'll get them in a week if I shop to their location instead of my home. And no information about charging me extra if I chose to ship home. I have never experienced this at any other vision clinic, I will not be returning to or recommending this place to others. read more

We came here for sports goggles through a referral of a friend who got their son sports goggles here. Not many places carries them. They only had 2 selection here for boys and one was too small a size 53 and one was too big size 60. The person spent with us some time looking through on line catalogues. I asked if in between size can be ordered as a display for your store for sizing. She said no because they have to wait for the sales reps to come in and that could be middle of the year or she wouldn't know when. She also said the office manager takes care the ordering but she didn't offer to check with the office manager. I said its hard to blindly order guessing their size but she said a 54-55 should fit. It's odd not to have a in between size as a display in my mind so we left. We went to another place right after, again they didn't have the sizes but they said they will order the display size for the ones we were thinking about and understand its needed for sizing. They also explained size of the lenses is only relative because the shape of the glasses determines how they fit. He showed us how a 58 in one pair of glasses can be big on the face while a size 60 in another pair of glasses can look small so obviously the person at Milpitas Optometric group didn't know. Ordering the display would ONLY take a week too. Better service else where for sure! read more

The check up is good but the people selling the glasses are rude and condescending. I went to buy a pair of glasses from them since they did my eye exam and had my numbers. But the guy in showing the frames was soo rude and racist. I think his name was Chris. Plus he tried to cheat money out of me by telling me unnecessary add ons for lenses and was trying to sell the most expensive frame. When I said no I will stick with what the insurance covers, he bloody rolled his eyes and his tone completely changed!! You are in service industry learn how to treat your customers nicely !! Fire that guy chris or whatever who is showing people frames and glasses, he doesnt know how to talk to people. read more

I scheduled an appointment with the optometrist and I missed one appt. for the second one I showed up but I called them before I went since I was running late. The receptionist said "THEY CAN ACCOMMODATE ME" and later I drove for 1 hr to reach. I was told I was late and I will be charged no show of 25$. I would have rescheduled on the phone itself for the second time, if I was aware that they can't accommodate me. They give bloody crap to the customers. Worst place ! It's not abt 25$ it about learning not to take bloody CRAP and nonsense ! I don't reccomend this place for anyone ! read more

Today I received by far the best customer service from Jennalyn. I called in for a prescription for my husbands contacts, never once being seen at this office I felt like we already belonged. Jennalyn was courteous, informative and very attentive to our needs. She set us up for contacts to be delivered to our home and even included a possibility to receive a rebate for them. Dr. Stocker here is great. Very professional, nice, and doesn't seem like he tries to scam us of our money ever, so because of him I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of 1. The receptionists are definitely a different matter. We've been coming here for years, and ever since we started paying for our CRT exams, we've had to dispute the receptionists after every appointment because they can't understand the insurance policy which is clearly stated on our printout. Today we talked to two ladies who were adamant that we were wrong about out policy (even though we've had the same policy for years) and tried to charge us almost double what we were supposed to pay. One of them ultimately called the insurance company, who told them that we were right. The lady's attitude was awful. She didn't apologize for her mistake, she continued talking in a very know-it-all voice, and overall just gave of a vibe of "I don't care." After we got home, we realized that we were STILL overcharged, and tried to call again. The same person talked to us and said that she'll call us back after she talks to the insurance company, and then proceeded to never call us back. I personally don't mind so much that they make mistakes with the policy because it is difficult to understand, but their attitudes when they talk to us are really infuriating. Overall I would say dealing with the receptionists/insurance policies can be a pain in the ass, but if you care more about the doctors than the receptionists, you just gotta deal with it because the doctors are pretty good here. read more

I just had my yearly check up with Dr. Susan Gordon. It is aways such a treat to talk to Dr. Gordon about what my eyes are doing. I walked out and didn't have to change my prescription lenses. She makes it easy to understand. I love the selection of the frames. I wanted to know about getting prescription sunglasses and found the perfect pair for my requirement of not letting the light in around the edges. Yahoo! Everyone that works there is pleasant and knows their stuff. I always recommend this office to my friends! I know they will be well cared for. read more

After 8 years, I finally decided to get my eye exam. I always had good eye site, so I never cared to get my annual exams done. Over the years, I've been using the computer more and more. I decided to get my eyes checked just to make sure things are still good, especially since we're not getting any younger :) I did a little yelping to find a place and cake across this place. One day, I was having lunch with a friend and he mentioned this place also. I figured it was a sign, so i went to their website to make an appt. You have to request for a day and time first, then it'll tell you to wait for an email I think... yeah, I didn't get an email. Someone called me a week later to confirm for my appt... I would take off a star for their appt set up, but I wont. Anyways.. other than that, my experience here was great. Everyone was friendly. They didn't push on sales. Dr. Lee made sure to explain everything to me. He asked questions to make sure he's checking everything he needs to evaluate my vision. I think I was the last appt of the day and he did not rush me. I was expecting to get a prescription so I can get some glasses, but my eyes are so good he couldn't even give me one! Sweet. read more

Front desk staff are either lazy, tired of their job (hence the fact that they like to ignore those that walk through the door for an uncomfortably long time); the sales people on the other side who are supposed to help you find the right glasses for you are completely unprofessional - too caught up being chitty chatty with eachother's personal lives that they can't focus properly on their customers (and maybe they think they're not being supervised because Dr.'s are out of site?).. Now the Optometrists here are wonderful. They make you feel comfortable; explain everything perfectly well; and make your appointment short and pleasant enough. I just wish they would whip their front desk, HR, and sales staff into shape and then their office would probably earn 5 stars instead of 1.5 rounded off to 2 from me. So, yeah, anyway.. read more

I ordered a pair of glasses and then I called 2 weeks later asking about my order. They said the frame was messed up and they had to reorder a new frame that wasn't defected. That sucks considering the fact that im literally blind without glasses. BUT TIFFANY WAS THE BEST!!!!!!! She called me about 3 times in one week updating me with my order. Finally after 3 weeks of waiting i got a call and said it was ready for pick up!! A week later, i was getting the mail and i had a letter from Milpitas Optometrics. I was thinking "aww shit, it's probably a bill that i have to pay" but turns out it was a card from Tiffany and the Staff of Dr. Nicole Pham apologizing about the delay and guess what was inside? Dr. Kavanagh is a thoughtful, professional, thorough - and he's honest -- at one point he probably could have let me talk myself into lasik but because i have dry eye he talked me out of it. This is a doctor who cares very much about patients more than money. I wish my prescription would come out correct the first time, though. Every year for the past three or four years we've had to send it back. Sometimes i do wonder if the people doing the measure for the glasses are really paying attention. I have a complicated prescription and the glasses are very expensive, so i keep hoping their vendors or whoever has missed something will do it right this time. I may take my prescription next year to another service if this happens again this month when i go in for my annual. read more

It took me forever to find a good optometrist after moving to the Bay Area - about 8 years! Dr. Kavanagh is a great optometrist - I wish I had found him years earlier. I have a very strong prescription, plus astigmatism, so its difficult for me to pick contacts, or pick new glasses. Dr Kavanagh was very thorough and we tried multiple contacts to pick the right lenses for me. I wanted to get lasik - Dr Kavanagh gave me the full picture, and because of his concerns, I chose not to go with lasik. I feel like he cares about his patients, and gives the right advice, regardless of the bottom line. read more

Excellent service! Came in to get my glasses fixed after a lens popped out and they fixed it very fast.

I chose Milpitas Optometric Group because they were one of the offices that opened later in the evening or even on the weekends. We had an appointment for 1:15 and 1:30 but arrived an hour earlier. We must've spent like 3 hours there (hence, the 3 stars). I would've given it four if we didn't have to wait that long. I'm sure we were there a little pass their 3pm closing time. Front desk staff was okay. Some are really great at what they do and some are just there just to be there. You notice this when another girl asks another girl to do something she probably could have check or done herself. Dr. Stocker was great. He was very thorough. It may have been one of the best eye exams I've ever had... but his staff was suppose to follow up with me about another exam and they didn't look into my insurance for this info. He also told me that I could bring in a box of my old contact lens and would update the prescription for me without having to do a contact lens exam since I already still had a huge supply left. When I came back to pick up my glasses, they told me that I had to pay for an exam. The girl that helped me and Dr Stocker told me otherwise. So, whatever. I'll just do another exam next year. It also took like 3 weeks for Fendi glasses to come back even when I was told it would be 7-10 days because it failed testing. ANOTHER DELAY. BUT, on a brighter note, I had one of the screws of my Michael Kors sunglasses fall off and the frames adjuster here told me just to bring it in. She fixed my glasses for me FREE of charge because she had a screw that fit. YAY for that! :) That made up for waiting too damn long for my eyeglasses. read more

I took my son here last week because he needed glasses ASAP, I didn't have time to research a "new" eye doc, so I came back with low expectations. I was actually PLEASANTLY surprised this time though! They seemed to have streamlined thier wait times, and have also seemed to add more affordable frames. I was also told that they are bringing in more brands that are not only more affordable, but more stylish as well. I am a fan of the "Kilik" brand and "Prodesign of Denmark" and I think that they will soon carry those lines again. All of the staff members were quite pleasant and I was very comfortable with every aspect of the office.. I have decided to continue coming here because it is again a GREAT office! read more

So glad this place will see toddlers as my 4 year old had been squinting for awhile and I was having difficulties finding a place to see him. The reason for my visit to Milpitas Optometric was due to my light sensitivity issues and I was experiencing ocular migraines. My exam went very well. I was told that my current spheric prescription was too strong and might have been the culprit for the migraines. He prescribed a new eye glass prescription and sent me on my way. I was excited to be getting new frames. I love wearing glasses! I did notice that the price of the frames were on the pricey side but of course those were the D&G brand. I ended up going with a Calvin Klein frame that was around $150. Not too bad. I would of paid about that much at Costco, anyway.. So, I placed my order on July 31. I was told 10-14 days. Got a call that following Monday and was told that my warranty for Transitions was void because I chose Tint as well. Fine, but this information would of been useful to me at the time of ordering. I waited until Aug. 14th to follow up and was told that the lab had to "redo" my lenses and that they would be completed by Wed of the following week. On Wed. the 16th got a call that my lenses needed to be "redone" again and would not be ready until the following week. I called the manager Jennifer in tears that I was missing work due to migraines and really needed my new glasses. She was very nice and actually had a pair ordered for me to borrow until my glasses came in. My glasses finally came in on Aug. 24th. I noticed that when I was trying my glasses on that the tint was the wrong color. I explained that due to the cost and wait time, the glasses should of been perfect. The office refunded my money for the lenses and also let me keep them. The customer service here is exceptional. Even though my glasses took forever (24 days), they did all that they could do by providing me a loaner pair and by giving me a refund when the glasses did not turn out as they should of. I will be back when I need an exam or another pair of glasses. read more

Really nice workers. I've been going here since I was about 7 years old, when they were located on Abel St. Since then, they're group has expanded to this location. They went from plain jane white/cream offices to teal/blue aethetically pleasing interior decorations. They have a puzzle table for children to enjoy while you sit waiting patiently for your appointment. They carry the latest technology for eyes; the latest in contact lens technology, a variety in cosmetic contacts (seriously, who wants sports team names and colors as their eyes?!), Lasik, new check-up processes (such as the image map and the one that blows air into your eyes, but with less force), Paragon CRT, etc. The doctors are well informed and keep themselves updated of the new technologies. They also carry an abundance of glasses from many designers as well as sunglasses in a seperate, but big, room next to waiting room. Dr. Nicole Pham was my optometrist and she was really nice and knew how to answer your questions precise and clearly. There are three other O.D.'s situated in this practice as well. The workers there are very friendly and would gladly cater to one's needs. read more

if you travel on BART regularly , you will contract some infection some time for sure. Same happened to me but this time it was bacterial eye infection. Redness, watery eyes, burning; it was awful! With the call in the morning, I got the urgent appoint appointment scheduled. Very efficient staff, on the phone or at the clinic. Doctor herself was very thorough and diagnosed my situation well. I've been going here for 8 years now and would reccomend it to anybody who is in need of updating their presciption. They use the latest imaging technologies for their eye exams including cataract screening and astigmatism. Their selection in frames is impressive and they carry all major brands of contact lenses. I started using Optix lenses before they were even advertised on TV because my Optometrist suggested them to me. I have extremely dry eyes, and was a die-hard Biometrics 55 user. The Optix lenses (when used properly, instead of monthly :)) are awesome. I manage to still have healthy looking eyes at the end of a day in front of the computer (rather than red-eyed monster.) read more

When I asked to take my prescription with me (to go to Costco with it) they said, "sure, no problem". What!!!??? Love this place!!! Always there to help, whether it be needing spare contacts, making a rush order, or giving you flexible options on what eye prescription option is best for you. Everything I've needed they've been ready to help. No ones a fan of eye dilation, but luckily they have an amazing group of optometrists who will help you trough or get a lower dose. Some time has pass and I was due for a check up. I walked in and told the front desk my schedule appointment and within minutes, before I could even check my Facebook from my phone, I was called in! A young lady took me to the back to do the usual routine that involved computers. I was then escorted to a room where I would wait for Dr. Gordon. In less than 3 minutes, she came in with a smile, asked about how schools going and my future plans. As said in my previous review, I've been going to her since 3rd grade so she has definitely seen me grow over the years. While conversing, she tested my eyes and it went by in no time. I then began looking for a frame while I was waiting for my eyes to dilate and I usually have a friend with me to help me choose. Hey everyone needs advice, even guys! I found myself in a dilemma so I sat down with an employee that was helping me decide using the process of elimination. While we were at it, we had some good laughs. After a little while, Dr. Gordon called me back in to look at my eyes once more after the dilation. After about 10 minutes I was free to go. I always enjoy my trip to the optometrist, too bad you only need to go about once a year or so. As usual, my experience was great and I felt really at home. Disclaimer: I did not see an eye doctor at all so I can't share my experience with them. I came in to purchase glasses. This review is for the front desk and Richard (but mainly Richard). The front desk is extremely helpful, like the type of helpful that they want you to understand everything and will explain everything to you in details and try their best to make something cost effective and easy on you. This is the type of front desk that is rare, but when you find it it's a gem and I thank you for being a great team. Then there's Richard, who helped me with my glasses purchase. To paint this picture, I've done this before...many many times. He was probably the holy grail of "person who helps with glasses purchase." He was so professional and kind that every time he left the table (note that I was not sitting with him, but I was busy looking at glasses), he would let me know when he left (in reality, he could've been on his phone or disappeared and I wouldn't have cared). He explained everything so clearly and took the time to answer my questions. He gave me glasses recommendations based on my prescription and how glasses fit on me (this has never happened before, usually I just pick one). He took the time to pick out glasses that would fit me better and explained why some glasses wouldn't well work for me. Best part was I didn't feel rushed at all and actually understood what my insurance covered (this never happens, but it did because Richard took his time, was very clear, and made sure I understood). Richard was awesome and does his job incredibly well (the best by far!) If his boss is reading this, Richard deserves a raise. As I mentioned before, I did not meet a single eye doctor. All I know is that they should all be incredibly grateful for their staff because their staff has been the best staff I have ever interacted with in any sort of medical office. I've seen Dr Gordon for over 20 years, and she gets a 5 stars every time. My bad experience is with the person handling insurance. This is my 2nd time with insurance handling issue. The first time was probably 3 yrs ago when I was told that my husband and daughter were listed on our VSP plan but not me, and she hung up on me. I called VSP and was told that I was indeed listed. VSP said that most doctor offices would just make the call themselves to confirm. Today, I was told by this office that "... VSP didn't pull up your CIGNA ID#..." . I told her that I had used the same CIGNA plan/ID at this office for eye exam the previous 2 years and that I've been a patient for over 20 years. She said there was nothing she could do and that I should call CIGNA or someone in HR. I called up 2 other optometric offices. Both accept my CIGNA plan within seconds of checking their system. Both could get me in for an exam within 2 weeks. Doctor Gordon, thank you for taking care of me in the last few decades. I wish you well. read more

It would sure be great if the technicians weren't so focused on leaving at the end of the day that they forget to return my charge card to me after a sale! Now they are closed and I have no access to my bank account until whenever I can get it back. Thank you MOG for the major inconvenience on top of already high prices! I have been a customer here for 3 years I didn't care for over prices, but I don't understand is rudeness of their staff, I will not go to this place anymore, don't spend your money here their mark up is crazy shop around or get your frame and go to Costco and order it their cost with no insurance is 1/3 these people. Anti refection anti-scratch and other services are free at Costco. Here they charge you arm and leg. there are a lot better places to go and find a good service that would respect their customers. read more

I have been going to Dr. Stocker at the Milpitas Optometric Group since I was a child. I have never, ever been less than satisfied with their service...and I am often extremely satisfied with their services! The staff greeted me by name and with a warm smile the moment I walked in the door. The doctor made the appointment feel more like a conversation than a clinical inquiry. Dr. Stocker truly made me feel comfortable and I felt that he really cared about my health. He was engaged in the conversation rather than just trying to get his information and move on. He made me feel comfortable...and heard. The staff members at the counter where you order new glasses were the same. The woman I was with was professional yet friendly. She had patience with me as I tried on different frames and when I second guessed myself several times on my choices. She explained it all in a professional yet user friendly manner and didn't act impatient with me at all. The offcie support -,Front office and MAINLY glass/lens selection area is horrible ! they are not willing to explain benefits or help in anyway ,what is covered vs add-ons you just find out when you see the bill since they don't explain even when you ask .just plain push back. I was hoping to write two separate reviews, but I can only do one. So, I would rate the following: Dr. Susan Gordon - 5 stars (more if I could) Optical Department - 2 stars DR. SUSAN GORDON REVIEW We've been going to the Milpitas Optometric Group for almost 20 years. Our primary reason for staying with this office for so long is due to Dr. Susan Gordon, who is amazing! She is thorough, extremely knowledgeable, and has a warm personality. She listens to our needs and explores all options. But, what we love most about her is her unique and infectious laugh. You can't help but to smile or laugh with her when she laughs! Dr. Gordon is truly exceptional! OPTICAL DEPARTMENT REVIEW After you're evaluated by Dr. Gordon, she will bring you to the optical department who will assist with ordering your contacts or glasses. When we first started, the entire office as a whole was great. However, in the last few years, it seems the service on the optical side has slowly but surely declined. There's a few new people in the last few years, which may be a contributing factor to sub-par service, but I would hope that any uncertainty in policy and what is allowable by your insurance is a simple question that can be clarified by a colleague rather than guessing. For a customer who has been with your office for many years, I can tell you what has been done in the past and how flexible your office has been before. THIS is what brings a customer back! Unfortunately, instead of retaining your customers, the lack of service is driving us away. SUMMARY I've never done a price comparison with other offices, so I can't comment on prices. Honestly, I just had no interest in going anywhere else until now. We will continue to see Dr. Gordon because she really is amazing. The service that she provides to her patients is phenomenal! BUT the diminishing service in the optical department is not worth our time or money. I no longer have the confidence in the staff that we are receiving the correct information, flexible service, and best pricing available.
