We've been patients at this office for over 15 years, but unfortunately we're now planning to switch to a different optometry provider. Over the past several attempts, I've tried three separate times to schedule eye exams for my entire family, and each time we were told there was no availability. It's really disappointing, especially as long-time clients, to feel like we can't even get basic appointments when we need them. Accessibility and scheduling should be a priority for any healthcare provider, and this has been a consistent issue for us. Because of this ongoing frustration, we'll be taking our business elsewhere. Vision Optometry has been extremely disappointing to deal with. I ordered a pair of sunglasses and was promised a specific pick-up date, but they failed to deliver on time. Even worse, no one bothered to call or update me when the sunglasses were ready. I had to reach out multiple times myself, only to be given false or conflicting dates. Long overdue review, since this happened on September 15, 2025. I'm not the type of person who leaves reviews unless it's really necessary--but this place definitely deserves one. I've been a customer here for a couple of years now, and not just me my boyfriend as well. Although the service hasn't always been great during our past visits, we usually just let it go and move on with our day. However, my last visit on September 15 was a different story. I called in the morning to ask if there was any availability for an eye exam. They said no, but mentioned they accept walk-ins. I told them great, I'd be there before 12 PM. I arrived around 11:40 AM, checked in, and was told to walk around the mall-they'd call me when it was my turn. I didn't feel like walking around, so I just waited there quietly, not bothering anyone or making unnecessary conversation. I simply sat and minded my own business. A few minutes passed. Then 30 minutes. Then an hour. Then an hour and a half. I was still patiently waiting (most people would probably already be mad). After about 1 hour and 45 minutes, I was still sitting there, quietly waiting. One of the employees came and sat nearby, trying to make small talk. At first, it was just random chit-chat, but she could probably tell I wasn't in the mood. Eventually, she asked what I was doing after the eye exam. I told her I had another appointment at 3 PM-and by then, it was almost 2 PM. She said that after the current patient, there was still one more person ahead of me, and then it would be my turn. Mind you, there were two doctors working that day. As we were talking, one of the doctors went to lunch, and the employee casually said, "Ahhh, one of the doctors is going to lunch right now. Let's just schedule you for tomorrow." No apology. Nothing. The way she spoke to me was like we were friends or something, we're not :) Anyway, IF YOU'RE NOT CAPABLE OF HANDLING WALK-INS, THEN DON'T OFFER THEM. Wasting people's time is not okay. I know this review probably won't change anything and you'll keep doing the same nonsense, but whatever-- won't be coming back to this place again. read more

I live close by and Vision Insight is one of the few Optometrists that always took all my insurances, no out-of-network nuisances to deal with. The prices for the exams are also reasonable and competitive. The eye doctors seem very young, but are professional and take the time to explain everything. Most of the sales/ support staff are easy to work with as well. There is an older Asian lady that can be a bit pushy, but I got no issues telling her off... They also have plenty of Choices, with a massive inventory when it comes to Designer Frames and Sunglasses. The store is not small and they make good use of the available space. Prices are steep, probably has to do with the fact that they're inside a mall and need to cover high overhead costs. Vision Insight gets fairly busy, especially towards the end of the year when a lot of folks like myself are scrambling to use up their benefits instead of loosing them. They do accept walk-ins! I don't particularly get glasses often as I have a pair that I run to the ground or I only update if my prescription changes. Now once in a while the bf does get his pair of Oakley sunglasses as part of VSP "free" and he usually goes here for them. There are definite pluses and negatives at this spot, but overall it's okay. L O C A T I O N Vision Insight Optometry is located in the Great Mall closer to the entrance near Marshalls. Parking is hard. So good luck if you're going during Christmas time or a weekend. C O V I D P R O T O C O L I believe they still require masks when in store, but the trying of glasses protocol has definitely changed from getting a tray and they disinfect every one you try to now where they don't do that any longer. They do have disposable masks if you don't have one handy. I N V E N T O R Y They have a very extensive inventory of glasses from so many brands. So so so many brands. It kind of gets overwhelming. Also there may be times when there are two of the same frames, make sure you look at each of the same ones you're about to get and look at the price. Sometimes they have an "older" one that's discounted and at a lower price. Also make sure you look at the quality of the glasses as these are the pair you're likely going to be getting back after they insert the new prescription lenses. Prices are basically MSRP or maybe slightly discounted. The prices for my contacts were definitely higher than at other locations. S T A F F They have a good amount of staff here from helping you get glasses to try out from behind locked areas to making sure you get someone to help you with your appointment or glasses orders. They all seem to want you to get a good deal from your insurance provider as they know all the glasses are overpriced. P R O C E S S To get your eyes checked, you likely need an appointment. That's what the bf does every time. You go to the counter to check in for your appointment and they'll let you know when it's your turn. It's relatively fast. He says they have a retina scanner that's amazing. He kept telling me I should get my eyes checked here just for that. To get glasses or contacts, you can basically peruse the glasses ask for a tray if you're looking at multiple items and then grab one of the opticians when you're ready. They look up for you insurance if you have one. They do VSP and it's direct so you don't have to get reimbursed and you get the full amount. The time it takes to get the glasses varies. It does take longer when it's the end of the year as everyone is trying to use up their coverage. There's apparently specific VSP lens vendors they need to use when you do VSP. Not sure if it was just us, but they kept telling us they'd call when the glasses were ready and they never emailed, text, nor called and they said they had. So get an estimated time before you leave, then call in to see if they're ready or not and then get an updated estimate. Then rinse, rather, and repeat. I think in general they say 10 days but I think this time it took much longer. The time to get contacts depends on if they have it in stock or have to get it special ordered. O V E R A L L It can get busy, so if you don't want to be waiting a while to get your glasses, make sure you go during the weekday. Get an appointment if you need to get a new prescription. You don't need one from here. Any valid prescription is fine. They take VSP. Their prices are definitely high but not sure how much more than other spots. I would say on par with Kaiser but much higher than Costco. But they do have a lot of frames option so if you're gunning for a particular look, they most likely have it here. They don't pressure you to buy anything so no harm in checking the selection out. read more

I've never needed glasses/contacts but have vision insurance. Many people told me to take advantage and just get my eyes checked anyways and even if my eyes need a slight adjustment, I would qualify for my insurance to cover the cost of the frames/lenses for glasses/sunglasses and computer glasses. Since I don't need regular glasses, I thought I might as well get a nice pair of sunglasses and computer glasses if I could get prescription lenses. I didn't want to schedule an appointment since I wanted to ask questions and check out the frames they had first before committing. I came in on a Saturday morning when it wasn't busy and the staff came and answered all my questions and told me I could do a walk-in eye exam right then and pick the frames later if I wanted. I went ahead and did the exam and they were all professional and efficient. I had a bit of trouble doing the eye pressure part, but they were super nice about it. Once I finished the exam, the doctor went over all my results and helped get the right lenses for me and explained everything in detail. Afterward, a different staff member helped my wife and I to try out whatever frames they had. I'm really thankful and appreciative of the staff, they were incredibly patient since we went around trying so many different frames and had tons of questions. I think we spent over an hour just trying on dozens of different lenses, we felt a little bad that they had to do so much for us. It's just that we wanted to make sure we got a frame we really liked. My wife previously had lasik done and her eyes were still in great condition so she did not qualify for prescription lenses, but since she had lasik she still qualifies to get a pair of sunglasses through insurance. She also qualifies for the computer glasses. The staff member was informative on the price breakdown and how it differs from my prescription versus my wife's non prescription. Mine was tax free and fully customizable, but for my wife's non-prescription sunglasses, it was taxed and was essentially the same as buying off the shelf from a store but our insurance covers a large portion. Overall, we were both incredibly satisfied and left happy with what we were able to get. The service and the options were phenomenal. We're glad we came here to get our vision needs done. We'll definitely be coming back again on our next vision insurance cycle. read more

I used Vision insight for my glasses every year, and used to be very happy. But their quality has gone down significantly now. I got new glasses last October. In 2 months of regular use, the lens has started peeling some material making the glass unusable. I took great care of the glasses. So this is definitely due to Vision Insight using poor quality material to mazximize their profit. I called their store. They took a look at my lenses and said that it is not covered by their warranty. When you provide glasses at a high price, I expect them to last at least a year. Vision Insight Optometry has proved that their glasses are soo bad that it will be unusable after 2 months. I will never use them again. If you are looking to buy new glasses making use of your employer VSP insurance, and need the glasses to last a year, DO NOT use them. They will take your money, give your poor quality glasses which will stop working after 2 months. read more

Came in to get a pair of glasses repaired, I lost a screw and the lens popped out. I was pretty much a walk-in. I was helped by Kevin who seemed to be in the middle of working on an order. He stopped what he was doing to help me, and my glasses were fixed within less than 10 minutes of entering the store. Kevin went the extra mile and tightened the other arm of my glasses. The staff are very nice & the facility is clean and they have many frame options. But I have had a terrible experience with my glasses. The first time they ordered it, I could see far but reading was very difficult. I went back & they upped my reading prescription # and completely changed the location of the reading lens. The glasses came back & now I have problem with both distance & reading! They will not make it a 3rd time and they never got it right! I will never go back to this store & now I have to suffer for a year with bad glasses. When I first went there I asked repeatedly if they use a manufacturing that uses large enough reading lens & they evaded the question & kept saying that yes it will be all fine. But They use a cheap lens company with a small reading lens and both the optometrist and the tech who marks the glasses as far as where each lens should begin & end, made mistakes. Came here on a whim because I couldn't find a store with frames that I liked. I got my exam done elsewhere, so my review is only based on the customer service I received while picking out a pair of glasses. The first time I came in, I wasn't greeted immediately, but that's ok since I wasn't actively trying to make eye contact with anyone and just wanted to browse the frames. It was around noon time on a weekday and seemed very busy. After about 5-10 minutes of trying on a couple pairs, I was greeted by Kevin who gave me a tray to make trying on multiple pairs easier. When I was ready, Kevin also helped me order my glasses and went through all the options that my insurance would cover. I paid and was told that they would be ready in about 2 weeks. I had a couple questions after getting home and they were also very responsive and helpful through email as well - they even called to make sure my order was correct before processing. My glasses were ready 2 weeks on the dot! I got a text message telling me they were ready for pickup 1 week and 6 days later. The pickup process was quick and painless, too. They offered to adjust my glasses and gave me a complimentary spray bottle of lens cleaner. Couldn't be more satisfied with their service! read more

I have to say that I used to mind that I would often not see the same optometrist year after year BUT, after 10 years I have concluded that whoever is in charge of hiring does a great job IMO and every single optometrist I have been seen by has been outstanding: has patience, kind, and professional. I was highly motivated to write this review today because I wanted to praise Dr Lisa. She explains things so well, listens to my concerns and asks questions about my concerns and offers solutions and options. I actually have Kaiser where I can go there for year check ups but I still continue to come to Vision Insight. Besides the optometrists being great, I have been promptly and kindly greeted almost immediately as I walk in. I always wonder why surveys always ask if I was greeted promptly.. I now understand. Tracy M is great. She remembered me and saw me right away the next day when they opened. The check-in process was fast and I was seen by one of their vsion specialists right away. Tracy helped me pick out some frames for my budget. They have lots of selection. You have to pay if you want the nice ones. I saw the Doctor and she was thorough and easy to talk to. She gave me a detailed assessment on my eyes. She was very pleasant and I did not get her name. After the exam, Tracy was waiting for me and helped me look for more frames. It was an easy process and then we went to finalize the prescription. She made it super easy with different price options, insurance, no insurance. I ended up getting prescription Oakleys sunglasses and next year I'll be getting the regular glasses. They're very fast here and they know their products. Oh, and it's convenient that they have a Doctor on the weekends. I work during the week and other Optometrists are M - F and go home at 4 or 5p.m. read more

Its been a few months that this incident happened but i wanted to warn customers of the poor service i was met with. I had purchased a Tiffany frame which did not even last me an year and unexpectedly broke over my vacation in december. I asked them to take responsibility but got a flat `No'. The store manager's name who i spoke to is Jane and she was extremely rude and in so many words told me she did not care about me being a long standing customer and that my issue is not being addressed. She said there are 4 managers in the store who will give me the same answer. The staff at the Milpitas store will not tell me who their supervisor is so i can escalate my issue. Does the buck stop with the employees? They seem to own the store and there is no redressal if a customer needs to escalate an issue to a supervisor. My frame was not cheap and i did not expect it to be such poor quality. It broke without incident and there was no explanation. I was forced to buy the same lousy frame again as i cannot use my laptop without glasses and as a working professional i needed one asap. Since insurance could not be used again, i had to pay out of pocket. This is the only store my husband and I ever used over the last 25 years. Never using them again. read more

I've been a loyal customer at Vision Optometry for years, even recommending them to friends, but their new staff is utterly disrespectful, unprofessional, and downright discriminatory. I came in to buy a pair of sunglasses, but instead of providing a new pair, Kevin Vuong insisted I purchase the display frames--frame that was loose, scratched, and worn from being tried on by countless customers. When I requested a fresh pair, they demanded an extra $25 for shipping, which is absurd. To make matters worse, Kevin Vuong was incredibly rude, even questioning why my husband tried on the glasses as if we were attempting to buy women's sunglasses for him! I was appalled and left the store, vowing never to return. Be very cautious if you're thinking about buying glasses here--they push used display frames at premium prices and offer terrible service. You're far better off going to a reputable brand or anywhere else that treats customers with basic respect. read more

I went in for a contacts lens fitting and annual eye exam - I was completely blown away by the amazing team at Vision Insight. From walking in, I was immediately greeted by the team and was helped by the amazing Chester & Laura! They made the process super easy and really enjoyed talking to them. Their location is busy (rightfully so because their staff is awesome) but they are so efficient! Dr. Andy is spectacular! The best doctor I've ever been to (and I've seen a lot since I've been wearing glasses since middle school lol). He is thorough and really takes the time to ease any qualms with your eye health. I told him I rarely wear glasses due to headaches and come to find the prescription might have been a little too high - so he let me test the different strengths using this really cool contraption and allowed me to choose the one I'd be most comfortable in. The customer service is good. But the policies are horrible, like no return or replace for the eye glasses you purchase. Where in the US you see no return policy and also the this people are smart at charging more based on the insurance, like if you are the main insurance holder then they would add your name for insurance rather than your spouse name, because you may be charged more if you already taken eye glasses but not your wife, like in my case so I figured our they were charging more because they were adding my eye insurance not my spouse. Also big no because no returns and no exchange but they do offer free service now for wear and tear. read more

Abundance amount of frames to choose from. They always have some kind of promotion or give you a deal of some sort. I haven't made a purchase that I wasn't happy with. I always ask for Mei to help me. I let her choose for me. Today, I came for an annual exam and to get prescription sunglasses. Mei choose a really nice frame for me today. Mei thoroughly explained the charges, the insurance's coverages, and store's/manufacturer's guarantees. I like that- clear cut so I know. Beware this place especially if you are coming for your child's glasses because, unfortunately this used to be my place to come get seen and buy glasses for me and my son and my mom for more than 5year, until this last incident I will never be going back or recommending this place to any one.I had previously had an incident with them about 6months ago when I got my child's prescription glasses here .They order the lenses and cut here and make you wait (no problem) but the tech that cut lenses did a terrible job they had to reorder them.Now 6months later I come back with same glasses now to get the 1year warranty replacement and same tech cut them and did a terrible job again.He cut one of the lenses to small which caused a huge gap at the top of the glass to were the tip of my finger fit and you could see right threw the whole.The supposed manger called ((MAY) was very rude and refused to order new lenses and said to me that my child sees the whole because he needs a new eye exam (excuse me your the blind one acting like you don't see the big gap at the top.Well anyways I reported them to the Better business bureau .Avoid this place or they will not take accountability for there mistakes. read more

Their staff is attentive, provides suggestions appropriately, but also gives you enough space and time to choose and try on glasses without the feeling that you're being pushed to buy a pair or two. They have a ton of options to choose from between various price ranges so you are bound to find something you like. It took me some time to choose the final pair I wanted because there are literally so many choices to choose from! I got my eye exam done here too and I believed I paid somewhere around $20. The process was pretty straight forward. They also give you a small bottle spray to clean your lenses with, which is a plus. The prices are high, but let's be honest. Glasses are expensive to begin with so the important things besides glasses are to find the right pair for you and good customer service.
