Over the past several attempts, I've tried three separate times to schedule eye exams for my entire family, and each time we were told there was no availability. It's really disappointing, especially as long-time clients, to feel like we can't even get basic appointments when we need them. Accessibility and scheduling should be a priority for any healthcare provider, and this has been a consistent issue for us. Because of this ongoing frustration, we'll be taking our business elsewhere. Thank you for the years of service, but we need a provider who can accommodate our family's needs in a timely manner.

The only reason I keep coming back is because of Emily, the veteran there. She is what customer service should be. Now, here's why I gave them a lower rating this time around. Your front desk needs to be retrained or hire somebody that actually wants to be there. Otherwise you will lose your long time customers. I told the front desk girl, I am here to pick up my glasses. She just handed me my glasses and tell me to try them on. Before, they would asked a technician to help me with a the fitting and adjustment if needed. Nope, didn't get any of that this time. It feels like, we got your money already, see ya. No customer service after you pay for your glasses. Bottom line - Want to drop some serious dollars for a pair glasses, come here. If you want good customer service, look somewhere else.

The staff I have encountered have demonstrated very poor customer service skills. They can be rude, unprofessional, and dismissive toward customers. Rather than listening to customers and allowing them to finish explaining their concerns, they frequently interrupt, talk over them, and continue speaking as if their goal is to dominate the conversation rather than understand and help the customer. The overall attitude of the staff is unacceptable for a healthcare business. I believe the owners and management need to take this issue seriously and provide proper customer-service training, as well as address the behavior of staff members who consistently interact with customers in this manner.

I called on 2/3/2026 at 1:50 pm to ask a question about my son's care. Before I could finish my statement, the receptionist heavily sighed and loudly interjected, "what's his birthdate?!" Clearly, it didn't matter that I finish what I was saying, or that it was completely rude to cut off someone (a current client) in the middle of a sentence. Needless to say, after that, I don't need to return to Milpitas Optometric Group. The front desk was okay, and it was already a pain to be greeted by such grumpy people, but after that phone service, we can take our business elsewhere. I'll be taking my son, too.

I truly believe that both doctors are great and will appropriately share feedback with their team in an effort to grow and learn. Thank you Dr Tran for reaching out directly :) My family and I have been going to Focus Optometry for close to fifteen years. We all get our eyes checked here, and typically buy glasses here as well. It was really convenient living close by as kids, and we always had generally good experiences with Dr Choi and Tran. However, since they moved locations, I've noticed a huge dip in their customer service/selection. I recently went in because my glasses broke (purchased a year and a half ago at Focus). I made an appointment and arrived on time and waited a bit, then was told I could go look at glasses and someone would be with me. Soon, one of the associates arrived and she had a sheet for my insurance. I told her multiple times that I had new insurance under my husband, and I insisted on seeing that sheet as well. She got another girl to print it out and then barely explained anything to me before walking away to help another customer. Regardless of the insurance, I felt like I wasn't a customer that they cared about. Not one smile, how are you, how can we help you. Instead they talked down to me and had no empathy for the fact that this was the THIRD pair of focus optometry glasses that have broken in the past ten years. I ended up selecting a frame that was cute and one of the associates told me those were no good. I ignored her and went to a different associate and asked for a price. Without telling me the price she told me those frames were discontinued and they no longer make them. I asked why they were on display and she shrugged and said that's why she put them up higher so nobody would grab them. So I asked alright, can I see glasses similar to these then? And she immediately points me to a locked case of Tiffany and Co / Gucci glasses like girl I know what you're doing. I ended up grabbing my broken glasses and I just left. Super unprofessional and they will try to take advantage of your insurance and bill extra. My dad has two insurances and he came in for an eye exam and they billed both of his insurance. But if that was the case, they should have been able to charge the remaining amount on my current allowance. It wasn't until I asked them to explain step by step that they billed my insurance correctly. On top of that, they said they will call me back to ask the doctor about insurance. They never called me back, I had to reach out to them MULTIPLE times. Horrible experience and I will switch optometrists.
