Tried to make it for brunch and didn't realize it was so popular! It was about an hour wait. Even though we made it in late we were still able to get something off of the breakfast and lunch menu. The staff is friendly and helpful and the service was pretty quick. The food hit the spot. Everything had quality ingredients and was cooked and presented well. This is a great place if you're looking for familiar food, friendly service, and a quaint atmosphere!

Fresh, tasty ingredients, with a wonderful modern farmhouse environment for brunch and lunch. By 1pm on a Saturday, they had run out of their corn beef hash, so instead, I ordered the Millside Scramble (eggs with tomato, avocado, and cheese), which were so fluffy and delicious, I inhaled it and decided that I need to make this combo at home next time. Even the potatoes were perfectly cooked, with the edges slightly crispy and a nice herby seasoning. Servers were really attentive, refilling our drinks/coffee multiple times and checking in on us. If I can make it back to this area again, I'm coming back in the morning, so I don't miss out on the corn beef hash!

another amazing breakfast stopped in on our way to get our Christmas tree. Myself and my wife both had the special suggested by our server and it was delicious, my eggs florentine was right on point with an amazing light and flavorful hollandaise sauce. My wife had the cannoli French toast, how can you go wrong? again the food was amazing along the great service with a special touch

Coffee is funky. We had a long drive home. I couldn't honestly risk the ride place. Sent the cup back same odd results. Spot is kinda cool though. Kudos on keeping the building in use.I had the hungry farmer loaded with breakfast meats and eggs. Like a western but mushy. Wife ordered the tuna. That was sans mayo, just an fyi. Wifey said it was good. Place could be much much better with some effort and attention. I must say the Wait staff was attentive and pleasant . I won't be returning on this one food, well food was eh..and way over priced. Menu was basic... I mean basic. Oh BTW... wifey gives the blueberry pie a solid 10

Popped in here with friends after yoga on a Saturday morning. It's a very cute and cozy place. The menu hits all the usual breakfast specialties and a few twists. I stuck with an omelette which was good. A friend had eggs Benedict over pulled pork and loved it. Waffles looked great too. Their coffee cake is amazing. I bought an extra piece to take home. Service was prompt and friendly. If I lived around here this would be a regular go to spot.

Cute little place in Lafayette. We sat outside. Very friendly waitstaff. We ordered salad with chicken, french toast and corn beef hash and 3 eggs/ sausage. Everything was delicious. We were very happy with our choices and would. recommend others trying it!

I enjoyed everything about this bright cozy place. I had the sliced steak sandwich w/ a side Caesar salad which was more than memorable & will be hard not to order again. My friend ordered the Cubano sandwich which was also 10/10, nice tender pork & the bread it's served on is perfect. Service was friendly, clean, on point & welcoming. Great wait staff! Loved the coffee. Thank you!

If you don't want your entrées coming out with the appetizers, just give them a heads up, because the kitchen moves fast here. We started with the mushroom dish and a hearty soup...both full of flavor and the perfect start to the meal. Then came the star of the night: the lamb chops. Perfectly seasoned, cooked just right, and melt-in-your-mouth good. Everything we tried was fresh and satisfying, the kind of food that makes you want to go back the next day. The service was on point- Friendly and attentive, and the whole space has this quirky, cozy feel, like you're sitting in your grandma's living room with its mix of chairs and warm, homey vibe. It's also BYOB, which is always a win. We brought a bottle of wine that paired perfectly with the meal. Overall, Butcher's Grill is a must-visit if you're in the area. Once you enter through the store, there is a sign to wait to be seated. The place has a nice and bright rustic vibe to it. I really liked the decor and table setup. Even the napkins had a rustic vibe. Started off with the potato scoop ($16) which was my fave item. The potato was shaped like the Fritos scoop chip, and the cheese dip that came with it had chunks of cheese in a melted cheese sauce. For my main, got the pulled pork sandwich ($16), which came in a pretzel knot bun and creamy slaw. It was solid meal and very filling. Other mains ordered were the roast beef "pho" style sandwich ($16) which I had a bite of and it was good and not what I expected thinking roast beef. Roast turkey ($16) was warm and also tasty. Each of the mains came with a side of potato salad. I will be back to try the sloppy Joe and their dinner meals. ***1 1/2 stars***…read more It's pretty rare for me to go below two stars, but we literally couldn't find any redeeming qualities other than a kid-friendly chalkboard off to the side. Rough, rough lunch and I'm picking the places going forward. I came here with my top-tier chum and #1 honorary young pup chum for a midday meal yesterday. This was an unfortunate recommendation by my chum, but in her defense, the biggest selling point was that they had a young pup section of the menu (which many of my suggestions didn't). This may have been a sign that it's time for the young pup to just order off adult menus going forward. This is probably a weird time of year to be over here anyway; this restaurant recently moved next to the baseball stadium, and December just isn't the greatest page on the calendar for America's pastime so it feels a little wasteland-ish right now. There were also a few random amusement park rides that we had to walk around to access the entrance (apparently more for a nighttime winter festival of sorts?) so the vibes were a little off to start. The interior was fine though - there's an interesting looking bar off to the left and high ceilings, so it feels more spacious than it actually is, given the overall square footage you're dealing with. I also enjoyed the cow decor, though I might be missing the joke with some of the cow/pig hybrid animals on display. My chum remarked that it seemed like the menu was designed by someone who'd never actually tasted the food, and certainly wasn't the same person who cooked it. Definitely a possibility, but my general impression was that this is ostensibly a family restaurant (remember the chalkboard?) with a menu only targeting young female adults, from the bar food to the cocktails. It's very strange. I wish there was a nicer way to say it, but the cocktails were terrible. I had their version of an Old Fashioned, which had coffee in it. Just did not go well together at all; there's a reason why Irish coffee with Bailey's was invented - not every dark spirit is going to work with coffee. I find it hard to believe this was taste-tested before being added to the menu. Never again. I felt worse for my chum though, who got a holiday twist on a margarita with cranberry. It was so beyond tart I could barely swallow it and it honestly tasted like cough medicine. In a quasi-NSFW comment, my chum mentioned that this drink might be helpful for a UTI, but alas, we were at a restaurant, not a pharmacy. At the very least, they need to retrain their bartenders on basic portions of a cocktail, but when the ingredients clash, that's a management issue. We got the Cow Wedgies to share as an app - basically, flattened mozzy sticks. I like the flattened concept but these were pretty bad. I'm assuming the issue here is they were in the deep fryer for too long because they had pockets of grease that would pop when you bit into them, almost like a pimple. One of those pockets exploded and stained the front of my hoodie. Not great - an unappetizing appetizer. The impression I got was that The Barnyard were pretty aggressively touting the chicken/waffles section of the menu. I went with the Winner Winner, which was another example of not understanding basic palates and taste profiles. This is a savory item - it has chicken, mashed potatoes and this gravy/corn concoction. Inexplicably, they then added this weird tangy sauce that would be better served on a bang bang shrimp app that completely ruined the dish. It's such an unforced error I don't understand how it happened. It's going to come as no surprise, but the service matched the overall quality of the meal. There were very few customers on the premises and yet our waitress was mostly MIA. She never came by to check on us after serving the food, despite making multiple trips to a table near us to inefficiently clear it practically one item at a time. It's very hard to give constructive feedback when an experience is this bad, but to me it starts at the very beginning - make sure the items on your menu taste good and that your staff is properly trained on basic hospitality concepts. The Kingdom of Sussex deserves a lot better than this.

You order at the counter and are given a placard for your table and your food is then brought to you. The biggest complaint from our party would be all drinks are for purchase not even tap water is given. Which is fine we had our own water. We ordered a side of waffle fries and the sloppy tots for the table. The side of waffle fries could've definitely been larger. The sloppy tots were delicious as the tots were well done and topped deliciously with beer cheese, bbq sauce, pork, and sour cream. They just needed a little salt. Everyone ordered a burger and they were good just super greasy. I ordered the pub burger in which the Irish cheese was definitely an acquired taste but the pretzel bun was delicious. The ya filthy animal burger I think would've been between with the coleslaw on the side as it made a mushy consistency. The stampede burger and bacon mushroom Swiss were both good. I will say for $15 per burger a little ridiculous it doesn't come with any side and just a pickle. The inside has almost a diner vibe to it but all the staff were friendly and polite.

Inside the place has a western or settlers theme (mixed in with a bit of random clutter and lots of dog photos). There was also live music which was great. For appetizers we got the guac (very fresh - recommend), wings (also quite good with a little crisp to them), and the frontier onion (which was just okay, a little more done than I would have liked, with a bit of an odd signature sauce). For dinner I had the rodeo chicken and I highly recommend it. It was very tasty. As a side note, I had ordered Russian dressing for my salad and what came was not Russian so I'd avoid that if you're a fan. It was mostly ketchup. I will say that service felt a little slow (for instance getting the check) and if you've read any of my other reviews you may know I also have a pet peeve about being without a drink for too long and I felt it took too long to fill waters. Also our table was a little sticky and I'm not sure why and don't really want to think about it too much. All that being said, I'd go again. So together we decided to try it for an early Friday night dinner. We ordered French Onion soup, a burger, potato skins, and chili with chips (I really was excited about that, since I used to LOVE it). First, there was no internet or tvs. Not a big deal for us but definitely noted (credit cards not working, etc). Next, there were not a lot of people here at 5 ish on a Friday. There was a guy set up to sing and play guitar-he was fine (a local guy who was talking with a worker about where they live, so def local). The server comes back, no French onion soup. So we ordered mozz sticks as a replacement. They came, a plate of 3, with a pretty crispy coating (so crispy they were tough to eat). I didn't like the sauce but my husband said it was ok. For the price, 3 mozzarella sticks seems silly. My husband said his burger was ok, not something to rave about like the old Homestead reputation leads you to believe. The potato skins were great in the middle, edges were burnt, but great in the middle. My chili was the most disappointing. The chips on the side were covered in jarred salsa, jalopenos, black olive pieces, and sour cream. I was under the impression those things would be ON the chili and the chips were there to dip and scoop the chili. However, the metal crock that the chili was in was hot for the entire time we were there, the issue being that every time you tried to get chili on a spoon/chip, the crock spun around in a circle on the plate. You couldn't grab the handle because it was seriously at a molten lava temperature. Needless to say, not what it used to be, overpriced, and just not a contender with other restaurants in the area. Go a bit further on route 94 and surrounding areas each way for something better, fresher, & maybe priced for the product quality.
