I'd like to give this place a higher rating but if something simple like a salad is botched up, then it's just unforgivable. I think I am still being generous with a 3-star rating though. I get that it's a weekend and it's busy, but with the higher cost of everything, customers do have the right to be picky. Server was nice but she was frazzled. Ordered my salad with dressing and blue cheese on the side. When it was served, it was tossed with a good amount of vinaigrette dressing and the blue cheese was nowhere to be found. Overall the salad tasted weird with the worst vinaigrette I have ever tasted. It's a first time I didn't finish my salad. Even my son made a face in disgust when I asked him to try. Finally when the errant blue cheese made an appearance it gave a little something but it was too late by this time. The steak was forgettable at best. My first and only meal of the day is a salad I wish not to encounter ever again. The fried zucchini was oily and burnt. Had to peel off the breading to get to the soggy zucchini. My fiancé & I have been coming to Millies for about a year now. it's become our favorite classic diner. For months we have been trying to convince my mom to go w us. The day she finally agrees to join us, we had an unwelcoming (almost hostile) service by our waitress, Leslie O. My fiancé was seated by the host, as my mom & i stopped at the ladies room. finally making it to the table, we still waited about 10 -15 minutes which was fine as we browsed the menu. Our waitress finally appears, "are you guys ready?" Umm ok? No "Hi, welcome to Millies, Im So & So, I'll be your server today" Especially it's our first time meeting her... Not a smile nor a grin, NONE OF THAT! At first we didn't think too much of it. We just ordered. But the second she brought our beverages out, a tea & two coffees, we knew the vibe was off. she placed each drink on the table and slid/tossed our drinks in each of our directions, & just walked away. WHAT?!?!! She did not even speak a word when dropping off the drinks, no eye contact. Right away my mom looked at me and i knew she felt what i was feeling. The vibe was off, for whatever reason there was this tension that i felt could be cut with a knife. Another 15 mins go by, she brought our food and dropped each of our plates in front of us so carelessly. Not placing the plate down, but almost like a way to throw the plate onto the table at us. She didn't ask if there was anything else we needed. She dropped off the food & that was it, walked away. right then and there i was over it. I was not able to enjoy my meal. She did not once come back to check on us, ask how everything was, if we needed anything. It's so unfortunate that the day my mom finally joined us, this was the hostile service that we endured. we ate our food but didn't get to really enjoy it because of how lousy we were treated. I looked around at the other patrons being serviced in such a friendly, patient demeanor, being consistently checked on & cared for. finally we flagged Leslie O. down and just asked for a to go box, made our way to the front to pay and just left. We got in the car and all agreed that we felt tension from our server. My mom even made a point in saying that had we been served by the waitress serving those across from us, the way she was do attentive, friendly, and smiling, we would have probably still been sitting in there taking our time eating & conversing as we had intended to do over lunch. Decided to try this restaurant out with my family on a Saturday. The food was really bad and it under seasoned. The wait was a long time but I figured it was a Saturday. But to be honest we only see our server when we arrived and ordered, to bring us our food, and to get the bill. Whe keeped getting up to get out own condiments and asking for refills. I come here on the weekends when I have my son. Usually for breakfast since my cooking at home consists of "Poptarts." So to the rescue is Millie's! I always order over the phone, even with it being busy for breakfast, my food is usually ready for pick up in about 15 minutes. (Which is pretty good considering the breakfast rush) I usually order the "Farmer's Breakfast." It comes with very hearty portions of Bacon, Sausage, hashbrowns,eggs, and your choice of a pancake or Toast. And freshly made Ofcourse. But the reason I keep going there is not only does my son and I love it, but because their staff is always very nice. It evolved into a sprawling 80s /50s "diner" with all sorts of kitschy knick knacks strewn about. The waitress was a very traditional gum smacker straight out of the movies - loved her. I don't think I ordered the right thing, should have stuck with classic Americana, because they seem to do that best. I could do without the enormous Bible verses all over the menu. A pretty solid location. I went at 1:30pm on a Sunday and it was pretty empty, but nice. I've been to the Norms down the street and Dennys in the area around that time too before and they're always more packed. Personally, the feel of the place is what made it memorable and enjoyable mostly. It was a super cozy environment with the kindest host & waitress. They have a large menu that I didn't browse much of because i was starving. Figured I couldn't go wrong with an omelette. Luckily, my partner and I both enjoyed the different omelettes we ordered. The price was decent $10& change for an omelette, form of potato, & choice of bread. I wasn't expecting them to be as big as they were! Huge and filling indeed!! The ingredients tasted fresh and the food was hot- just the way I like it! The pancake itself was a normal pancake. Just because it's normal doesn't mean it's bad! I love a classic breakfast with those classic flavors as they should be- and love it even more in a cozy diner like this one! Great classic diner! Friendly service, old school jams, delicious comfort food, and fresh baked goods...everything you could want from a diner. By far and away the best breakfast potatoes. So flavorful with a creamy perfectly cooked potatoes with a crispy fried outside. Would come back for those alone. Everyone loved their food: waffles, pancakes, pastrami, Southern fried chicken. Updating my review. Unfortunately, although we liked the food and atmosphere here, I will not be returning. My teen son stopped here after school time to use the restroom and was told he couldn't as he was not a customer. (the restrooms don't need a code or anything to get in, but my son wanted to be respectful and ended up buying something) He's a teen boy, who looks nothing like a trouble maker at all. You can tell he's a good kid. How dare you Millie's, tell my son he can't use the restroom? I don't care if this is policy, which I would love to see written somewhere because I doubt it actually is.. I believe people should have a restroom to use when they need it. I occasionally work a side job at a place the restroom is closed up and locked. You need to actually pay to use it. Well, I don't care if it's an unhoused person who appears to have not showered for a long time. I unlock that door for anyone who comes in and needs to use it. I always check it afterwards to make sure it's clean for customers, but I don't tell anyone they can't use it. Have some compassion and decency. read more

Millie's pleasantly surprised us. Our server, Mario, was attentive, friendly, and accommodating. We ate with our one year old in tow and Mario made our dinner visit enjoyable. As far as the food goes, my steak dinner was exactly what could be expected of diner food. My husband's french toast was tasty and had hints of nutmeg. The great thing about Millie's is that it stays open until midnight which is later than Costa's and Mr. D's, neighboring diners we go to. Millie's never disappoints. I used to live down the street from Millie's and we came here often. Now that I live in Phoenix I make it a point to stop at Millie's at least once during my yearly trips back home. The are great for comfort, home cooked meals. On this trip there was 5 of us total. We ordered the pastrami sandwich, a bacon cheeseburger, chicken tenders, a waffle and French toast. I honestly could say that there wasn't anything left on any of our plates. I can personally say that the pastrami meat was fresh and tender. Sorry I was enjoying our meal and forgot to take pictures. read more

I earlier in this year with my three teenaged children for dinner. We were satisfied with our food. I order the breakfast tacos with home fries as my potato style. Plenty of food I must say. One of my children ordered philly cheese steak sandwich with fries The other two ordered the club sandwich each with fries. The server was very friendly he had offered a suggestion for the order(I don't remember what it was, but glad I applied it) and was attentive enough. I like the restaurant but unfortunately my children didn't care too much for the ambiance, they said it felt to patriotic. So haven't gone back since. Maybe I'll go alone eventually read more

So I felt compelled to hop on here and rave about the superb food and excellent service my daughter and I received today! So pleased to see that it still feels like your stepping back in time when you step into this restaurant! Love the old time diner warmth and nostalgia. I was accommodated with my requested seating and we were seated immediately upon arrival. I also was accommodated with changes to my food order. I ordered the Monte Cristo and requested it without ham and the chef was able to make the changes for me. Also we ordered the fried Zucchini which was homemade and the batter was crisp and not greasy at all! It was some of the best fried zucchini me and my daughter ever had! Also I'm a big time condiment food snob! And their ranch was in house made! Not that nasty pre bottle made crap! Honestly I will not frequent a restaurant that serves bottled ranch! This was my dad's fave place and since his passing in 2008, coming here is nostalgic for me. Mom & I were served by Mario. Awesome & kind, both in words & action. Our order was simple: half sandwich with soup. We both had the BLT add avocado. Every day they have a different soup, but have chicken tortilla & potato cheese on the daily. For our soup choice, we asked for potato cheese. Everything was as good & fresh, just as I remembered. (I was last here about just before the quarantine. Mom said she has been here several times since then when they opened outdoor dining. Definitely coming back for all my American homestyle comfort food cravings.
