Another huge disappointment by Miller's bakery. Old cakes are being sold way too often to be ignored anymore. Got a mix of cakes and small desserts and everything was stale with non-fresh smell to it. The frosting on one of the cakes was hard and smelled very weird. The Napoleon was older than a week probably, the layers didn't have the typical crispy texture and were very dense and unpleasant to eat. We specifically asked when the cakes were made and assured that everything is fresh. When I opened the box at home, the strawberries on top were getting brown and mushy. After happening already few times it doesn't look like an innocent mistake and is becoming a real problem. The best local bakery ever! Their chocolate baked goods are delicious -- you really taste chocolate, as is the case for all their flavors. These are more than food color additions. And besides sweets, they offer focaccia in addition to bagels and rolls. They have a selection of excellent frozen manicotti, ravioli and other pastas that are way, way better than what's offered in grocery stores. I haven't ordered custom cakes because I'm more into choosing from the readily available cakes on display, which are fresh and delicious as everything else. This is very disappointing... It's the only bakery in the area and unfortunately its terrible. I went over a weekend to pick up crumb cake jelly donuts etc. I walked in said good morning to the owner he said nothing back... OK not everybody's friendly the girls behind the counter were very nice said good morning. When we got home no jelly in the jelly donuts may be a pea size amount. The crumb cake was extremely dry with no taste no crumbs on top. The other donuts almost tasted stale which was horribly disappointing. Maybe they switched owners I don't know but I wouldn't recommend going there. I also noticed in the cake case the cakes looked to be frozen because they had puddles of water on top of them so if you think you're going there for a fresh cake you're not. This place caught my eye while passingby anderson ave. They have a showroom right next to the bakery to see few of the types of cakes they offer. There are more online to choose from. I reserved my cake like 5 days ahead. They told me they needed more time if i want shoe. Look for the owner to inquire about their custom cakes. My cake ordered was a serving for 10-12. I think that's the smallest but not sure. The outside design you can discuss and almost whatever you want inside. You will need to make a deposit when ordering. This is the old-fashioned American bakery, and it has been here for several decades and also has another store in NJ. We ordered the baby shower cake from here and was very pleased with it. Don't get me wrong, it was rather expensive but they made with the fondant and customize to any design, so it was not cheap as expected. Ok so I saw some good reviews on here and decided to go order a cake here instead of ordering at my usual spot in Manhattan called De Colores who charge the same as millers but taste amazing. We decided to order from here because it was in the vecinity ofcourse and didn't know if we would be able to make it on Saturday to De Colores. So my husband went in to ask questions regarding placing an order a week prior to me ordering to make sure that we could order the day before and they said yes. So we went in on 3/31/17 and ordered the cake. The older lady behind counter was very nice. We didn't want anything crazy. Just a cake with blue and white that said 'happy birthday Luca'. We called to ask if the cake was ready earlier just in case since we were in the area. We were put on hold TWICE, 10 minutes each time, before they even knew what we were calling about. So on the third try they finally answered and said no and to just come at the designated time the cake is set for. Which is fine but would have been nice to know on the first try. Then we went to pick up the cake and they showed it to me before paying and I noticed the name ON THE CAKE had been written a little sloppy but that didn't matter cause it doesn't change the flavor of the cake and it was for my 4 year old son so obviously he wouldn't care or even notice. So ok, I'm still ok with everything and being cool about it all. Then, when it's time to blow out the candles and cut the cake, I'm seeing inside the cake (the layers) and this is the biggest part that frustrated me. The cake was thin and sloppy and THIS CAKE was made practically of icing. I included a picture for you guys to see. I paid $40, not for a cake, but for icing. They asked me what I wanted in the center, and out of all the options, I asked for chocolate mousse. I wasn't told that it was going to be more than 1 layer of chocolate mousse (which is a little overwhelming) but not much a problem had there been an exact layer of actual CAKE. So yea, I paid for 25% of cake and 75% of icing. It looks like the cake was made by an amateur. Very unfortunate because they lost what could've been a lifelong customer. read more

Very disappointed! I was recommended to this bakery by a friend who'd gone there many years ago but apparently they must have not gone there recently! I ordered some fresh cupcakes and when I called I specifically I asked if they were fresh and when I went to pick them up it tasted like old refrigerated food taste and the second you bit into the cupcakes they tasted of a terrible old aftertaste I would not recommend this place ever. I've been coming here my whole life! This place is great.. Best blueberry muffin and their coffee is excellent. The coffee is so good that you don't need to add sugar or milk. If you need a pastry the danish is made with real butter, Not shortening! Real old fashion style. My go to is the Pecan Ring with Bavarian Cream. The prices are not expensive at all.. Wow. I'm a bakery snob, being 100% Italian. I found Millers by accident through Grub hub while searching for a sugar free cheesecake for my dad who is eating low carb. I took a chance and ordered some pastries and each one was better than the next ---the secret is really the cream - it's light and not heavy like custard or cannoli cream, but more flavorful and not as sweet as pure whipped cream. The chocolate cream puff, Napoleon and eclair were phenomenal. The icing on top was also firm and not gooey. The cannoli was pretty good too and my dad said the sugar free cheesecake was delicious. Terrible, Terrible, Terrible. The owner gave me a price for 150 PC of Almond Horns, I paid for them in full about 3 weeks in advance. Picked them up the evening before my big party. When I got home I opened them up and was dismayed that they did not have almond on the "ALMOND HORNS" like the sample I bought when I placed the order. I called the bakery and they told me that that's how they are now made. But if I paid $.50 more for each they would redo them. I had no choice because these looked terrible and I paid the extra money just to have them look like they were supposed to. Do yourself a favor and stay away from them. Their word is no good. The price was okay could have been a little cheaper but cheaper than the rest of the bakeries in the area. I've added an extra star to my one star rating because the staff is wonderful. Customers are greeted with a smile and the staff is very helpful in answering questions and providing service. The actual one star rating is based on my purchase of several mini eclairs that were only about 3" by 1" in size. I paid $1.25 each and given the small size, I immediately felt the price was on the high side, but I figured it would be well worth it since this bakery has been in business since 1947. Unfortunately, these mini eclairs were dry and left a faint taste of salt on my pallet vs. the expected chocolate or cream flavor which should be predominant. This was also the same opinion my three friends expressed after eating these mini eclairs. Personally, I'm really disappointed. Honestly they get some bad rep from a lot of people and I don't completely agree. Millers does tend to slip especially with the cookies, but 80% of the time you get exactly what you expect. The prices vary and with no competition near by to compare, they get a good grip on the Cliffside population. Now I wouldn't go as far as saying they are my favorite bakery, but if I'm in town and need a cake they are always the ones I go to. Convenient location and pretty good quality, isn't that all you need? If you are in the area and need any baked goods, even bread, I would suggest you stop by here rather than drive a half hour for something only slightly better. If you want to make a half hour trip to try this place out, I would suggest you don't. All in all a great local bakery. read more
