I've been a big fan of Chic Sugars for a while now. It started off with an obsession with their cupcakes and then I had the best crumb cake I've ever had from them! So once I had some life events coming up, I knew Chic Sugars would be the best bakery to handle my custom orders. In short, I've ordered two custom cakes from Chic Sugars - a gender reveal and a baby shower cake. Both cakes were beyond beautiful and more than that, the cake inside was always so delicious and moist!!! Other bakeries I've had cake at sometimes do decor really nice but the taste can lack so Chic Sugars really impressed! Their cakes are not that sweet and the fillings are to die for. For the gender reveal cake, it was white cake and raspberry buttercream filling. For the baby shower cake, it was white cake with one tier that had canoli filling and the other tier that had chocolate raspberry ganache. Honestly, you truly can not go wrong with any of these flavors but if I HAD to rank it, it would be 1. Canoli 2. Chocolate Raspberry Ganache 3. Raspberry buttercream. The employees at Chic Sugars are incredibly supportive and easy to work with when you are explaining your vision to them AND their online portal makes it super super easy to place orders. I've been dying to visit this big shop for a very long time, so when I was in the area I knew I had to stop by, and boy am I glad I did! The whole inside decor is so cool with super dope artwork and display cases full of cake pops pop tarts cookies cupcakes you name it. I was in the Halloween spirit so I got Halloween themed cupcakes, pop tarts, and a black and white cookie that was black and orange, Yum. I also got cake in a jar, oh my gosh it was the best chocolate cake I think I've ever had in my life. And the pop tart with Nutella inside? Let me tell you this is the most colorful bakery I've ever been to!! I was instantly happy when I walked in the door. There were sweets galore everywhere... my exact vision of heaven! I came in wanting cupcakes, so I focused myself on the cupcakes section (otherwise I would have purchased the entire store). I picked up my two favorite flavors - birthday cake and strawberry crunch. They are definitely chunky, meaty cupcakes topped high with frosting and decorations. I loved the chocolate covered strawberry on top of the strawberry crunch! The cupcakes were moist and tasty with great flavor. Frosting was also delicious but a little more dense than I prefer. Normally my go to cupcakes have a very light and airy frosting. Next time I'm in Englewood, I will try some of the other dessert options and will also consider ordering a custom cake given all the rave reviews on Yelp!! My fiance ordered a cake for todays pickup at 10am. A request was made for a cupcake with a green suit and moustache. Nadhir called back to confirm and asked for flavor and color as it would be made into a cake not a cupcake. We were fine with that as long as the design was correct. Pickup today we recieved a cake with only green and frosting. It was not a suit there was no design and she merely slapped on a moustache into the cake after we complained. The design was incorrect and nearly 2 hours late. We asked for a partial refund or something for an incorrect product but nadhir said she could not as was policy and would not bring us into contact with the owner and refused to call the owner. She stated herself that she saw the cupcake word and did not see the rest of the detail request. That is not our fault, what is the point of placing a quote request with a design description if it will be ignored. Her excuse was that she was just a person and that stuff happens. She then began to berate us on how business works and how long she has been in this business. We did not want the cake and asked for a refund and she overwrote our request. This is stealing and a scam. She also threatened that if we did not take the cake she would leave it on the counter letting it melt. So we had to take it what are we supposed to do? How is this okay and how do you allow this sort of practice run your business? The price and policy is based on the contingency that there is a final correct product not a product that is entirely incorrect. I tried calling and asked for wmail and information then i was hung up on which i have a recording of. And then the phone was proceeded to be turned off. This is not okay. Picked up a cake decorating kit and a tiramisu from Chic Sugars! Great COVID friendly bakery that offers touch free delivery to your car once you arrive. The cupcake kit came with 6 vanilla cupcakes, 3 different buttercream frostings with different decorative tips, 3 different sprinkles packs, and decorative bling to put on top of the cupcakes! The kit was so much fun and easy to use. My cupcakes even look like they were professional. The tiramisu came in a neat container and was fresh and delicious!!! Definitely a treat. read more

I have been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got the chance. When I arrived I had to circle a couple times to find parking but finally found it. I found the place and walked in to the cutely decorated bakery. I loved the decor and found out it was black owned. The lady that served me was super sweet and helpful. I ended up getting the Easter blondie and the chocolate cupcake. It came to about $7. When I got home I tried the baked goods and they where both good. A wonderful Black-owned small business full of sweetness. As I walked through the doors my sense of smell was awakened & my eyes danced from side to side, up & down, across all the amazing treats. My inner child was so excited. The staff was as sweet as the treats and answered all my questions and told me about the exciting little details like "Wednesdays is buy a cupcake get one free from 3pm - 5pm"...WHAT???!!! I picked out what I wanted...well I had to pace myself but look at "my goodies" pic...and was very surprised at the final bill...very reasonable prices for the love that you can clearly see goes into making everything. When I got home hubby was very excited to start our dessert night...and we were not disappointed! The cupcakes were delish and the donuts exceeded our expectations. The cupcake in the jar was a winner and the Krispy treats brought us back to our childhood cereal days. We highly recommend this business to add sweetness to your day. Disappointing is the nicest way to put this. Sugar shock to the core, an actual DROP maybe a thimble of filling clearly from a bag bought online. The cake was multiple textures ranging from dry as a bone to mush, the chocolate covered strawberries were so sour and over crusted with chocolate you could tell they knew the quality. Embarrassing to serve our guests. They sent us a gift card for some menial amount of money that will never be used. Frankly for the cost it simply was not worth the effort to even pick it up. Paid extra for a topper that wasn't even put on the cake. Perhaps they should stick to fondant work because their fondant cakes are beautiful but their buttercream 100% misses the mark. read more

Horrible place to order a cake if you want to throughly discuss your order and expect the designers to actually know how to decorate a cake. I left highly displeased as I follow their proper process on to order a cake and still left with nothing in my hands and completely disrupted on my birthday. when asked to compromise, they said they would cut fake flowers to put on the cake and didn't have the skills to properly decorate a cake. do not go there if you want a cake for a important occasion or a special day . this was for my mom's 50th birthday and they left me completely hurt. thankfuly after finally getting someone to comprise and call their boss for a discount despite asking for change. the decorator mention that I was 2 hours late but 4 hours before closing and that would be a problem. finally after telling us no refund they finally agreed to the compromise. while this review was nasty my words werr nice and throughly explain my disappointment with their service read more

There was no attitude or an eye roll, just a perfect hand off. I ordered their Valentine's Day Cupcake Kit for my girlfriend's birthday ( it falls on V-Day) , and it was perfect. Erika saved the day by creating the most beautiful carousel birthday cake for my 2-year-old's birthday the weekend of Thanksgiving! I couldn't find any other bakeries who would do something personalized last minute. Luckily she had a cancellation and was able to fit me in. She was so kind and made the process so easy- even dropping the cake off on a Sunday morning in the snow.
