    New York Breakfast

Yes their chocolate chip cookie is amazing. Super buttery and decadent, chewy with a lightly crunchy edge--if that's the style of cookie you prefer. I also got their everything bagel sandwich with the smoked salmon and it was pretty good too. Service was pretty fast and friendly. Inside is a bit hectic with the line, but lots of tables outside for a relaxing breakfast or brunch.

New York breakfast was delicious. Unfortunately not that much salmon and I miss capers and red onion. Interesting change on a classic though. The pistachio crunch croissant was surprisingly very good.

If you need a good breakfast spot in the Upper West Side, Orwashers needs to be on your list. The list of breakfast sandwiches and other options are definitely a great way to start the day. (No, this is not sponsored but I wish it was). I got the New York Breakfast and a cold brew. Perfect amount of salmon and dill cream cheese. I liked the onions but kind of wish they were chopped into smaller pieces. Regardless it tasted amazing and I would go back!

Fantastic friendly service. Too salty of goods. A nice woman helped me and was uber patient with my order. Thank you! I got $50 of good. Bagels, onion breads, and croissants. Cream cheese is $6, a little steep imo, for $2.50 bagels. The bagels were average. A little salty. Nothing groundbreaking. The croissants were terrific. Wish I'd spent the whole $50 on those. Maybe their sweets are better cuz anything salty was too much. The onion breads were too much. Way too much onion. Nice corner stop and nice inside.

Great bakery, great freshly baked bagels, love the authenticity.... But how a bagel with cream cheese and 2 slices of salmon is 12$!, when by itself bagel is 2$. It was still perfect bagel, they one I would expect to get in NY, just slightly hard on the edge. Perfectly toasted though. Been there before and probably would come back Would recommend it to everyone. I love that it's bakery, the ambience and style. Service is also fast and friendly. Oh, they also have great coffee!

I need to check this place out in person! Bagel was okay, but I think the reason I was not super impressed is because it was slightly cold from delivery. I did love the care it was packaged with, so I hope I can check this place out soon!

    Pistachio Crunch Croissant

I was on the Upper West Side on a Sunday after visiting the flea market and passed by Orwashers and saw their Pistachio Crunch Croissant. Decided to try one and it did not disappoint. It was not overly sweet or messy. It was crunchy with just a smidge of yummy pistachio cream and some chocolate. I'd eat another one next time I'm near an Orwashers.

This space feels more like a full-service restaurant than a café. They offer a full menu featuring Georgian dishes, and my friend tried khachapuri for the first time and loved it. The server mixed the egg into the cheese tableside, which was a nice touch. I also noticed several people stopping in for an early dinner. Seating is comfortable but mostly communal, with long shared tables. My biggest issue here was the service, which unfortunately was very poor. Something as simple as getting sweetener for my tea required tracking down our waiter multiple times, and requests were repeatedly forgotten. My tea water even went cold while waiting. Despite the cute atmosphere, the service experience was frustrating enough that I don't think I'd return for a full meal.

I am happy to say it was just as tasty when delivered. The fries were still crispy and pita that came with my bf's falafel plate was hot and steamy (and delicious) as was the labneh! My bf really loved the falafel bowl plate dish and said the falafel was crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside. I had some of his pita with the labneh which was divine! Really tasty olive oil. Tuna melt was just as delicious and satisfying as in person. I was surprised the toasted bread was still crispy and not soggy at all like it often can get from take out. I also appreciate that Effys always uses only perfectly ripe avocados it is so noticeable! Also their fried pickles are dangerously good, and their prices are very reasonable. First of all, I have to mention the prices: we got 6 pastries and 2 hot chocolates for just over $40: a steal in this economy. Second, it was mostly authentic: the "francia krémes" (which they call a "Napoleon" here for some reason) was quite close to how they serve it in Hungary, save for the caramelized and sickeningly sugary top (which I skipped). The "dobos torta" had the reverse problem: its top--the eponymous "drum"--was authentic, but the meat of it far, far too chocolatey. Guys, a slice of "dobos" is NOT supposed to put you in a diabetic coma! It is not even meant to be very chocolatey! It is supposed to be much more subtle, even savory. The pastries we took home, which included several "rétesek," received high reviews as well. The servers were nice, but did not speak Hungarian. My only other critique would be that the space is incredibly cramped. You will be elbow-to-elbow with various Columbia students. My companion also told me the bathroom was filthy.
