New York Breakfast

New York breakfast was delicious. Unfortunately not that much salmon and I miss capers and red onion. Interesting change on a classic though. The pistachio crunch croissant was surprisingly very good.

If you need a good breakfast spot in the Upper West Side, Orwashers needs to be on your list. The list of breakfast sandwiches and other options are definitely a great way to start the day. (No, this is not sponsored but I wish it was). I got the New York Breakfast and a cold brew. Perfect amount of salmon and dill cream cheese. I liked the onions but kind of wish they were chopped into smaller pieces. Regardless it tasted amazing and I would go back!

Fantastic friendly service. Too salty of goods. A nice woman helped me and was uber patient with my order. Thank you! I got $50 of good. Bagels, onion breads, and croissants. Cream cheese is $6, a little steep imo, for $2.50 bagels. The bagels were average. A little salty. Nothing groundbreaking. The croissants were terrific. Wish I'd spent the whole $50 on those. Maybe their sweets are better cuz anything salty was too much. The onion breads were too much. Way too much onion. Nice corner stop and nice inside.

Great bakery, great freshly baked bagels, love the authenticity.... But how a bagel with cream cheese and 2 slices of salmon is 12$!, when by itself bagel is 2$. It was still perfect bagel, they one I would expect to get in NY, just slightly hard on the edge. Perfectly toasted though. Been there before and probably would come back Would recommend it to everyone. I love that it's bakery, the ambience and style. Service is also fast and friendly. Oh, they also have great coffee!

I need to check this place out in person! Bagel was okay, but I think the reason I was not super impressed is because it was slightly cold from delivery. I did love the care it was packaged with, so I hope I can check this place out soon!

Pistachio Crunch Croissant

I was on the Upper West Side on a Sunday after visiting the flea market and passed by Orwashers and saw their Pistachio Crunch Croissant. Decided to try one and it did not disappoint. It was not overly sweet or messy. It was crunchy with just a smidge of yummy pistachio cream and some chocolate. I'd eat another one next time I'm near an Orwashers.

It's the kind of place that makes you want to sit down, slow down, and actually enjoy your wine. The wine selection is well curated -- great variety whether you're into bold reds, crisp whites, or something a bit more unique. The staff is knowledgeable and happy to guide you without making it feel intimidating, which really enhances the experience. And the food is just as impressive -- absolutely amazing, thoughtfully prepared, and perfect for pairing with wine. Every bite feels intentional and elevated rather than an afterthought. The vibe is intimate but lively, making it perfect for a date night or catching up with friends. Small plates, great wine, and a warm atmosphere come together perfectly. Overall, Sipsteria delivers exactly what a modern wine bar should: great wine, amazing food, great energy, and a space you actually want to come back to.

This space feels more like a full-service restaurant than a café. They offer a full menu featuring Georgian dishes, and my friend tried khachapuri for the first time and loved it. The server mixed the egg into the cheese tableside, which was a nice touch. I also noticed several people stopping in for an early dinner. Seating is comfortable but mostly communal, with long shared tables. My biggest issue here was the service, which unfortunately was very poor. Something as simple as getting sweetener for my tea required tracking down our waiter multiple times, and requests were repeatedly forgotten. My tea water even went cold while waiting. Despite the cute atmosphere, the service experience was frustrating enough that I don't think I'd return for a full meal.

You feel like you're no longer in the city. It is warm and attentive but not overbearing and you are not rushed. I had a grubhub voucher from work so we ordered delivery. I am happy to say it was just as tasty when delivered. The fries were still crispy and pita that came with my bf's falafel plate was hot and steamy (and delicious) as was the labneh! My bf really loved the falafel bowl plate dish and said the falafel was crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside. I had some of his pita with the labneh which was divine! Really tasty olive oil. Tuna melt was just as delicious and satisfying as in person. I was surprised the toasted bread was still crispy and not soggy at all like it often can get from take out. I also appreciate that Effys always uses only perfectly ripe avocados it is so noticeable! Also their fried pickles are dangerously good, and their prices are very reasonable. They have a $15 dine in lunch special 11 am -2 pm on weekdays

I had a sip of my lemonade, and it tasted like strawberry syrup water and I couldn't taste the lemonade at all. The drink tasted horrible. I normally don't like to complain at cafes or restaurants but given that this lemonade was $7 before tax, we decided to ask the staff if they put lemonade in the drink. The staff answered they had no lemonade. We were very confused because they did not mention that they were out of lemonade when we ordered or even when they handed us the order. It was kinda unbelievable that they would just gave this strawberry syrup water to us when we ordered strawberry lemonade. The staff offered us another free drink after and I just got a matcha latte. Fairly poor experience here. While I appreciated them offering us another drink after we complain, not every one feels comfortable complaining. If we didn't complain, we would've wasted $7. This place would've been perfect for working otherwise. They had a lot of tables and pretty fast WiFi. All their drinks were very expensive though, with most of them being $7-9 before tax.

As someone very familiar with Hungarian cuisine, this affordable (but completely packed) little…read morebakeshop actually somewhat impressed me! First of all, I have to mention the prices: we got 6 pastries and 2 hot chocolates for just over $40: a steal in this economy. Second, it was mostly authentic: the "francia krémes" (which they call a "Napoleon" here for some reason) was quite close to how they serve it in Hungary, save for the caramelized and sickeningly sugary top (which I skipped). The "dobos torta" had the reverse problem: its top--the eponymous "drum"--was authentic, but the meat of it far, far too chocolatey. Guys, a slice of "dobos" is NOT supposed to put you in a diabetic coma! It is not even meant to be very chocolatey! It is supposed to be much more subtle, even savory. The pastries we took home, which included several "rétesek," received high reviews as well. The servers were nice, but did not speak Hungarian. My only other critique would be that the space is incredibly cramped. You will be elbow-to-elbow with various Columbia students. My companion also told me the bathroom was filthy. If you're OK with these rougher spots, though, this cozy café is worth a visit if you want a peak at the "old country."
