During my visit, I experience good customer service, for the most part; employees are kind and helpful with navigating the menu options. The Veggie Panini is so tasty; the ingredients taste fresh and as though from a quality sauté; the Portobello Mushrooms, Red Onions, Roasted Red Peppers, and Spinach all mesh together juicily well, of good flavor. I try to make the meal as Vegan friendly as possible by removing the Feta Cheese. Still, the panini might have butter which texture wise more so than flavor wise is present. If not for looking in the sandwich I might not note the buttery-melt-like residue which is post my curiosity of the oil/sauce. I think a garlic-olive oil base may be a great option to substitute for any seeking to Veganify the Veggie Panini beyond just removing the cheese. The coleslaw is tasty and contains a light mayonnaise-milky-like dressing, which one may drain out, though the coleslaw comes with it. Being able to substitute the coleslaw for a commensurate size salad can help with Veganify-ing the coleslaw portion. The fresh fruit are fresh and tasty. Request a check for available fruits to be more sure of what might be coming in your fresh fruit package. The meal is overall juicy and satisfying. The establishment offers a variety of seating options and has a somewhat classy modern-retro vibe. I don't look for a jukebox or a dancefloor though I won't find any surprise if this eatery has them. BEDBUGS in the Booths at Millburn Diner -- and an Owner Who Yells at Customers- STAY AWAY! Quick Summary * Sat in a fabric booth and found multiple bedbugs crawling in the cushions within minutes * Reported it to staff -- no manager came over and nothing was done * We were moved to another table and still charged the full bill * Called the next day -- manager promised a call back but never did * Spoke with the owner later -- he yelled, accused us of harassment, refused to address the issue, and hung up I'm sharing this so other families in Millburn know what we experienced. Date of visit: February 28 Party: Family dinner including our 20-month-old daughter My family and I live in Millburn and try to support local restaurants whenever we can, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Within about five minutes of sitting down in a fabric booth, someone in our party noticed a bug crawling on the seat. Based on what we observed at the time, it appeared to be a bedbug. When we checked behind the booth cushions more closely, we saw several more, at least 8 crawling along both sides of the booth. Seeing multiple insects that were confirmed to be bedbugs where customers are sitting and eating was extremely alarming. We immediately got up and asked to be moved. In hindsight we should have left immediately, but we had already ordered and felt awkward walking out. The staff moved us to a table in the center of the restaurant with wooden chairs. We clearly told our server exactly what we had found in the booth. Nothing further happened. * No manager came over * No one inspected the booth * No one followed up with us * No one offered any acknowledgment beyond a quick apology from the server When the meal ended, we were handed the full bill as if nothing had happened. The next day I called the restaurant to make sure management knew what had occurred. The manager told me he had not heard anything about it and said he would call me back "ASAP." That call never came. Two days later I called again and asked to speak with a manager. This time the owner came to the phone. Instead of addressing the issue or even listening, he immediately became hostile and started yelling. He accused me of harassing him and his employees and said he was going to do nothing about it. After shouting at me, he abruptly hung up the phone. I have never experienced a business owner respond this aggressively or unprofessionally to a legitimate customer concern. For transparency, we documented what we observed at the time and contacted the restaurant directly the following day to give management the opportunity to address the issue. Based on what we experienced -- both the insects we observed in the seating area and the response from management -- this situation felt completely unacceptable. Went to the diner earlier today and would not go back. I was sitting down to have lunch with a friend and the waitress was helpful and quick. I was somewhat shocked by the "manager" Kathy who came out visibly upset by a lady who send back a sandwich. The lady was with a special needs (well behaved) child and the manager was yelling about how she would charge more for the fries than if the lady didn't return the sandwich. She also threatened to call the police on the lady when she tried to pay and leave. Not sure how someone like that gets into a management position but I definitely won't come back. I came here w/ five other people, and the seating was a little awkward. We were seated at a round table in the middle of the diner, and it was hard for people to squeeze past us bc we were so close to surrounding tables. The food was not very good. The potatoes were not cut, they just looked.. shredded and mashed and overall unappealing. While my eggs were cooked well, the English muffins in my avocado benedict were burnt, and the cold tomatoes did not go well w/ the hot dish. The sweet potato fries were crispy, but the fries were not fluffy on the inside, and some pieces were burnt. When our group walked up to the register w/ our separate checks, he expressed in an annoyed tone how he didn't like dealing w/ separate checks. Inside, we all showed our credit card transactions to prove that we all paid. The cashier continued to insist that someone did not pay. In the end, apparently, the cashier just accidentally charged one of us w/ the wrong ticket. So all of this confusion was for nothing. Came back on another Friday morning a couple of years later, and they're finally open at the time that they say they'd be at 7:30am. It filled up with a number of local regulars, I think, as they seated themselves around the shop and were served without much delay. Our server was brisk, and came back regularly - with coffee refills even before my colleague had finished more than two sips. Service - right on top of you. We tried the avocado fries - interesting coating, like a mozzarella stick with marinara. It was good, but greasy for a morning. Salmon eggs benedict is known as a Egg Copenhagen here, and it was good, though too many fresh onions for my taste, I had to set a few aside. The side of Taylor Ham was a good three cuts, and crispy. Definitely a diner, and speed was the name of the game. Efficient and was out the door (you pay by the doorway) efficiently. Parking in the lot was tight as it gets busier. They have a lot of different choices, so will probably be back here again to try more breakfast and lunch options. read more

We live in town and have always liked the Millburn Diner but haven't been in quite a while. Today our family friend took my younger daughter there for lunch and had a terrible experience. She ordered a turkey sandwich that was inedible. She quietly and politely told the waitress that there was something wrong with the sandwich and the waitress (who was lovely) apologized and said that she would take it off the bill. Shortly after, the manager, Cathy, came to the table and told our family friend that there was nothing wrong with the sandwich because she "checked it" and that because our friend and my daughter had eaten some of the French fries that came with sandwich she would have to pay for them. Our family friend did not argue and said that she would pay for the fries but then Cathy told her that she would also have to pay for the side salad that came with the sandwich (which she had not eaten) and that it would cost more than the original order so she better just pay for the order that she sent back. She then threatened to call the police on her! My daughter was scared and close to tears and our friend paid to avoid her getting more upset but I am shocked that a long time local establishment would treat a customer this way. I'm not sure if the diner is under new ownership or management but I will never go there again and I will make sure to warn others to stay away as well! read more

From the moment I walked in the host ( a very large man who did not smile) seated me. He has sat on his phone blasting videos the entire time I've been trying to eat. It is so annoying and making my experience a very unpleasant one. I have a great waiter. He saw that i was waiting along time for service and came over. I had a weird order and he got it down perfectly. Kudos to the waiter and to the kitchen for making such good food. Someone needs to speak to the host. He's unfriendly and his telephone should not be blasting videos while clients are trying to eat. I looked at him several times and he's ignored my looks. Super affordable! Comming over from NY the prices were way cheaper than what I'm use to. I got the Spinach & Feta cheese omelet, it was the perfect portion size and very tasty. I wasnt a big fan of the Frappuccino, it tasted very bitter and honestly was similar to a unsugared ice coffee. Got the 2 eggs platter and they recommend the buffalo wings which were the perfectly blend of tang and saucy. My favorite diner in NJ. I reviewed 8 years ago and figured it was time or an update. Went with my Daughters recently and had another fantastic breakfast. Ordered takeout last night. I should've posted pics but it was so good we devoured everything. Everything was on point. Ordered a cheeseburger with Swiss no fries for my coworker. Asked to be cooked medium and it was perfect. I ordered a rock & roll cheeseburger which is with bacon and cheese and fries. I preferred mine medium rare and it was perfect. The fries weren't greasy or salty. Both burgers came with coleslaw, lettuce, tomato and pickle spears. The service was impeccable. They said 15-20 minutes. I got there in under 15 minutes and all was ready and waiting. This was an excellent choice for dinner takeout since my regular joint was closed. Will be ordering from here again. We came after seeing something at the Papermill Playhouse and thought it would be crowded with other patrons, but the parking lot was empty. A sign? Got seated quickly, boyfriend ordered a Coke and I ordered a water, the waiter only brought the Coke. Then a really long time later, after we'd thoroughly read the menu. We ordered and I asked about the water, and it was still several minutes before I got it. Maybe because it doesn't add to the bill he didn't think it was worth it? We were about to just get up and leave and debated if we would have to pay for the soda by the time it came. The waiter didn't write anything down, said the part that says "soup AND salad included with entree" was a typo, it was one or the other. BF only wanted one and was fine with that, but that's just false advertising. He also brought my boyfriend the wrong soup. I got the quesadillas, which were fine but a bit bland. They were adequate. I was in the mood, but it's Mexican food at a diner, so I knew it wouldn't blow me away. BF got the chicken parm which was a huge portion, enough for good leftovers, so that was fine. The older man who I guess was the manager/owner was all smiles when seating us, he got me a water refill, and he rang us up and thanked us for coming. A huge selection, but I zeroed in on the COBB SALAD. It had been ages since I had a good one! And this turned out to be the best I've ever had. They included ALL the traditional components of the salad, fresh, delicious, and attractively presented. The portion was more than ample; I even had some left over for snacking the next day. The managers looked more scrambled than my eggs. They looked overwhelmed, as if it were their first day. I might have complained but to what end? A discount? No, I'd rather pay and get out. This might have been the fastest meal I was ever served, which worked for me and the group I was with since we were very short on time. From the time we ordered to the time the food I came out was maybe 7 minutes. The bacon might have paid the price for the speed though - some pieces were crispy but others were limp and chewy. Home fries were boring, no onions, seasoning, or anything, very bare bones. Soft scrambled eggs were cooked properly- no brown spots. Service was friendly. Omlets slays have tasted delicious n hot. Today I just stopped by for coffee n an egg salad sandwich n it's was very delicious n warm as I wanted. Even fries were hot n crunchy. It's always a nice time for mw when I go here be sure winter I can sit inside and watch outside world and summer they have outdoor patio open to enjoy nice breeze with ur food ;). Went for dinner with my wife about 6:15PM on 10/04/2021. Waitress sat us and said someone will be over shortly to take your order. 15 minutes went by, and my wife waved to the manager, and manager yells ,"what"! we ask for a server and she says soon, we walked out. Millburn diner used to be our go to place for breakfast take out, like all the time. Over the last few months, while ordering via uber eats, our meals and our notes have clearly been overlooked. For example, a hot coffee is delivered instead of requested iced, scrambled eggs instead of fried, and my note for extra extra extra (yes I write it three times) and the bacon comes barely cooked enough for a regular person to eat it (let alone a pregnant woman who needs bacon extra extra cooked). Decent enough diner. Just what you'd want, large selection, decent food and good service. All of these were in order here. I had the guacamole burger and waffle fries. It hit the spot and was cooked just how I liked it, also they didn't cheap out on the bacon but I think the tomato slices were way too big as were the pieces of lettuce. They were practically bigger than the patty. The guacamole comes in a small cup on the side which is kinda cool, but they might as well just offer it as a side like cole slaw or something rather than advertise it as the burger on the menu. Maybe it's nitpicking so I'll move on, the oreo milkshake was great so I'd come back simply for this. The servers were great but one of them was perhaps a bit too much so.
