Month long into a supposedly 2 week repair. I've missed MAN opportunities lately as an emergency services photographer due to this. I'm calling soon to see what is going on, but there has been very little communication. I got an email that a quick read seemed to have been a "We have fixed it pay and pick it up" along with an overdue pay notice on paypal. Which, anyone would think "Oh it's done now" cause why else would you have an overdue pay notice, when its only a quote on the repair. When I went to the store one of the members gave me an unreasonable attitude with my confusion of said email and overdue notices. This sat with me really wrong, I cant say I will be returning after my repair is done for any further needs. read more

Went in for a Passport photo, due the post office not providing the service. Seriously took all of 10minutes. They charge $15 same as the post office. Customer service was fast and efficient. read more

I have been here several times as a Maplewood resident, it's the closest to me. There was a young woman there on my first visit that was home from school and just darling. Just walked out. Owner said as I left. "Happy muttering..." What a total loser. Place is a complete mess. Shame it didn't flood and go out of business last to make room for someone who gives a shi__ . Only a matter of time. Selling crappy, knock off Chinese camera supplies at inflated prices. Dinosaur business model with unkind disrespectful customer service. Guess what, pal, I got this review on my first try. Do yourself a favor. Check for what you need on amazon. My Pentax ME Super had a stuck mirror latch and advancement linkage. I needed it fixed as soon as possible being that my wife is pregnant (due the beginning of June) and I wanted to take nice pictures of our baby after it was born. So I called up Millburn Camera ASAP photo, told them exactly what the problem was and asked for a quote. Carl the owner quoted me at between $100 and $160 and that it would take a week (from other reviews it seems like that is his go to response). I said that would be just fine (figured it gave me plenty of time before our incoming baby). So while I was at work on April 14th my wife dropped off the camera and I figured I would have it back in a week. After three weeks went by I called them up to see what the status was. Carl picks up and in a very rude tone tells me that it's not ready and to not call back, that he will call me in two to three days on it's status. Another two weeks go by with no word from Carl. So I call back and talk to a very nice employee Sophie, she looks up the camera but can't get a status on it so she says she will call me back the same day... Carl calls me back. He says (again in a very rude tone) "It's going to be $160" I responded "Oh good it's done? that's great. $160 will be fine, I'll be by to pick it up." he retorts with "No we haven't started it yet, that is just the quote for what it will cost." I am obviously put aback at this point, amazed in all that time they didn't even look at it. But they had the camera already so I just say "okay" (because what else am I supposed to do at this point?). Two days later they call me up to tell me that my camera is repaired (do they not know how long the repair takes? Does it actually take a week? or could they have gotten it done in two days during the over a month they've had it?). I go immediately to pick it up because at this point my wife could give birth at any moment. While in the store itself, waiting to pick up my camera, there was an exchange between Carl and his young male employee. The employee was on the phone with a potential customer who was asking if there was any quantity discount on developing rolls of film. Carl was offended at the audacity that anyone would even ask such a question, and when it came down to the question of "well how many rolls would illicit a discount" Carl (again in a very angry and rude tone) told the employee to tell the customer that it would take "I don't know, how about fifteen rolls" to get a discount (who knows if he would even honor this statement or if he was just trying to get the customer off the phone. Because really how many people are developing fifteen rolls at a time?). After the employee got off the phone with the customer, Carl started to lay into this kid real good because he even entertained the question. Much to the employee's credit he gave it back to Carl, stating he doesn't know how to answer those questions because it is not his business and he's not authorized to give discounts, only Carl can (or won't in this case). Many other reviews I've read of this place have stated how nice and patient Carl is, but from being in the store I can assure you that regardless of how he may seem to your face he is most likely talking shit about you after you've left the store or hung up the phone. I got home with my camera, loaded up the film to try it out and see how it functioned, only to find out that the brand new LR44 batteries I had put in it before bringing it to Millburn camera WERE GONE! This place's customer service is awful and I am definitely going to try to find a more friendly and competent camera repair store to give my business. The only reason they got a second star is because (after having to buy and put in new LR44 batteries) the camera seems to function as it should (still haven't gone through a full roll to develop to see how it is actually functioning yet). read more

I had a truly disappointing experience at Millburn Camera and would suggest avoiding this place for passport photos. Two months ago I brought in my infant for 2X2 passport pictures for his first passport. We got the pictures done ($40 worth of passport pics!!) and I sent them into the Department of State for a passport for my newborn. I had paid an expedited fee for the passport as we were headed out of town for our first post-Covid vacation. Two months later, instead of receiving a passport in the mail, I received a letter from the Department of State letting me know that the passport picture we submitted for my son did not meet the standard as the measurement of the head from chin to the top of his head was less than an inch. As a result we have had to cancel flights overseas, cancel our hotel, and not see our family this summer after a two year wait. I called Millburn Camera before writing this review and politely explained what had happened and that our plans have been ruined because of their careless service. All I got was a curt "I'm sorry" and that's it. No offer of a refund, no offer of a redo, and no effort to make it up to us in any way. Shame shame shame! I'm livid, upset and disappointed in this business as it essentially destroyed my summer and were oblivious to it altogether. I suggest you not take your chances on this over-priced and unprofessional store. Take your business elsewhere! read more

I love local businesses and supporting our downtowns. Millburn Camera has been a fixture in my local community for many years. They made a mistake and made a repair that they were asked to evaluate and provide an estimate for. They then called us to say "oops" we went ahead and made the repair (without providing an estimate) and then offered a discount for the repair and/or asked us bring it back to remove the repair. I would have been more open minded if I hadn't read the other YELP reviews. Let the reader of this review be the judge - I feel that they should have offered an apology or been more forthright and provided an estimate prior to making a repair we did not wish to pay for. Nor did they offer an apology (or perhaps the discount could be interpreted as such) We will not be using them again for future repairs or purchases. Sad. read more

It pains me to write a bad review for a B&M store that still works with film and film cameras, but the service was so bad I have no choice. I'm getting back into film and decided to test them out with a disposable camera we had on vacation. The problems start a few hours after I drop off the film with a call saying they can't develop this type 35mm film: "What do I want to do?" Well, I would have wanted to know that before I left the store! They say I can drive the 40 minutes back to pick it up or they can send it out for an additional $8. So, I paid them over the phone and had them send it out. Then I find out that they send film once a week, when I get a call a few days later on Friday that they didn't send my film because I didn't pay the extra $8. But I did pay it. I call them back on Saturday explain it and they begrudgingly agree to send it immediately -- Images back by End of Week. End of week comes - no images. I called - they didn't even have the decency to call me - and I learn there was a problem at their vendor. Definitely Monday, if not Saturday said the woman I spoke with. Ugh, Wait a few more days. Nope, No images Monday. I call Tuesday and get Carl who tells me there's nothing they can do. I just have to wait. Hopefully soon -- This is now 2 weeks after I dropped off the film. I finally get a call after asking them to keep me up-to-date that images are coming Wednesday. Carl acts like he's doing me a big favor getting me my images nearly 3 weeks late. Carl and really everyone else that I spoke with treated me terribly. I was either given bad information, was treated like I was interrupting their day or with annoyance that I was unreasonably expecting them to be true to their word. Sorry Carl that I unreasonably expected you to tell me the truth and stand by your work. Stand by your updates. Stand by your customers. One might have expected them to try to do something for me. Refund the additional charge or a discount on the whole process. Nope, nothing no even an apology. Oh, and the images are terrible - sure disposable cameras are not the best, but not this bad. I cannot stress this enough: DO NOT TRUST YOUR PRECIOUS MEMORIES WITH THIS STORE. read more

Not videos transferred and left a deposit of $500. to covert 29 Vhs to digital came out top be $1400.00 only got 13 DVD 1 ubs stick . I asked for a additional copies so I could give my children so seems like alot of what I though was on tapes is not on DVDs . I even gave him my video camera he found 5 tapes in its bag tried to charge me a additional 450 I told him I feel like he raped me I iam in total agreement with ERic V reveiw read more

"ASAP" photo? We must have a different understanding of the term ''as soon as possible'. I was very disappointed with my experience. I had a photography exhibition coming up, and decided to give this place a try rather than go to my normal print shop an hour away. I requested to have two prints done and was told the turn around would take a week. (A little longer than previous places) They also didn't have any samples of their paper styles, so I should have known to turn away. But I decided to take the chance. Two weeks passed. No call or email. So I called to check on the status. I was told the prints were being sent out and would take an additional two days to arrive. I waited an additional week and a half and received no call or email. With my exhibition nearing, I emailed them back to cancel my order. I got an email back saying there was an error with the printer and my photos were printed in the wrong color. They also tried saying my number was incorrect on file because they called and left a message (a very poor excuse because I gave them two forms of contact when I first went there) I wouldn't recommend this place to any photographer looking to get prints done. Ive had much better experiences from other shops and even online places like BayPhoto and MillersLab read more
