I purchased a service for her through Groupon, checked up on her webpage and facebook page, didn't seem to see any negative reviews, and we needed a photographer in that area, so I thought her deal sounded great. (A roughly one hour session at a local park for $79, outfit changes if we wanted, and I would receive a copy of all raw images, from which she would edit five...) The initial apt set up was ok, but from then on, communication was a HASSLE. I had to call HER the day of our apt to confirm the appointment... It was raining on and off that day, so we decided to speak at 2 in the afternoon to decide if we were able to do the photos or not... I didn't hear from her, tried to call her a couple of times and heard nothing back... Until 4:15, when she called and said I'll be at the park in 15 mintues... We had expressed that we were staying 30 minutes from the park, and she gave us NO time to be ready... When we reached the park, she wasn't there... She went to THE WRONG PARK, even though I had confirmed the park with her... The entire photo session she was MUCH more concerned with her camera getting wet (mind you it didn't rain the entire time), then she was about capturing our family moments... Which shows in the pictures, because lets be honest, she missed 98% of the things a photographer would capture... She claims on her groupons to win awards for child photography... Not ONE good picture of my toddler, whose "essence" I can capture on my smartphone. I cried when I saw the pictures, they were just sad... The experience was horrible, my husband and I were so stressed out by her by the time we got to the right place that we nearly canceled... My assumption is she isn't really interested in doing a good job for groupons because people aren't paying full price... She is constantly posting "sneak peaks" and session photos on her facebook, and I sat and waited for ours to pop up and they never did- probably because they were so sub-par... Must I also mention that we are military from out of town and my husband doesn't have many chances to see his son, so these pictures were meant to be a special way for them to both remember each other... Which she failed to do for us as a family and for my husband and son... I find her actions to be completely disrespectful on a personal level, as well as blatant disrespect and disregard for military personnel... On another note, we had brought cupcakes with us as a cute little prop and reward for the toddler who had done a great job dealing with all of her nonsense... She looked at me and said "I don't get your vision for this." Are we serious? I have to explain to an artist that i want cute pictures of my husband and his son eating cupcakes together (which is one of their favorite things) and you don't get an artistic vision for this? This also shows in the photos, they aren't good, didn't capture the moment, and were a pure disappointment... Isn't photography about being artistic??? She also brought her husband and daughter with her, which I have no problem with, but halfway through the photo session, they walked right through our group and distracted our toddler- to me, this is rude. I did receive the RAW images from her, but when I told her which images I would like her to edit, she wouldn't respond... A month later I contacted groupon, who was VERY quick to give my money back... I still haven't heard from her... They had the aesthetic we were going for, more light and airy, and their book was gorgeous. We had our engagement photos with them at Skyland Manor and I was so blown away. We are super traditional and did not want a first look, they definitely tried to sway us into one, but understood in the end and left us alone about the decision, lol. I am very very thrilled about my photos and I am so excited to post them here. They were very quick which I appreciated as we wanted to get to our cocktail hour. There is also not a single photo I dislike, genuinely. Luis was our photographer and he also did our engagement shoot so we were already very comfortable with him. He has a dry sense of humor which I enjoyed, and we had no issues feeling comfortable with him and posing, etc. He also knew I didn't want a ton go group shots because we had a massive bridal party and again, that cocktail hour was calling our name, lol! I love getting photos taken, but my fiancé, now husband, is not a natural at all, but having had the engagement shoot behind us, he was relaxed and comfortable, and i think the photos look really natural and showcase us so well! They also caught a lot of the details I worked so hard on, which was a huge plus for me as a DIY bride without a planner. I did in studio pics and outdoor. No extra cost. I felt like a model. She had beautiful dresses and I couldn't decide what to pick. No worries, she has every single color you can think of. We went to a local park a few minutes away from her studio. I picked out 3 dresses and a few head pieces and off we went. She knows how to position you and makes you feel so comfortable. Once we were done hubby and I went for a quick bite to eat while she put the pictures together for a quick view. We came back and she went through all the pictures she took and I selected the ones I wanted. What a long but amazing day. Now fast fwd and I'm back but no belly this time. I have a newborn!!!! Only a few days old. She recommends you come with your LO around 14 days old. It's just much easier to pose them and they stay still. She keeps the room very very warm for the babies so if you show up, wear a t shirt. She puts them in all the cute outfits ( yes my baby also had his model moment lol) and I just stood by and watched half asleep standing up and sitting on couch( new parents know that feeling). He is so easy-going and instantly makes you feel like you've known him for years. He was so much fun to work with, both at his studio and our wedding venue! I think you have to be with babies, but she understood the general nature of babies, and was open to working at the right time, and worked quickly * She did a good job juggling keeping a baby/kid engaged while taking the photographs. I'm a photographer, too (of spaces, not people) and I know that getting the right moment with the right expression can be difficult. * She had lots of props and lots of posing ideas. Lots of creativity with the lighting and made sure we got the shots we wanted. * She turned the photographs, and the resulting prints, around quickly and with professionalism. They were beautifully retouched. in all, she was professional, quick, very skilled, and fun to work with. And her rate is comparable pretty affordable. I am really glad I had her take photos. I can tell you about how I never ever modeled before and what a great experience I had. I can go on and on about how comfortable I felt in lingerie, with the lights on, in front of another woman. But I'm not going to do that. Why? Because my photos came out so damn awesome that I can't even do anything but think about how damn sexy I am. Or at least, how damn sexy YBC made me look in my photos anyways. So I guess this really isn't a tale, nor is it really much of a review either. It's more like a warning. Serious vanity issues will arise if you choose to shoot with YRB. I use to look in the mirror and think things like "my mascara is a little runny." Now I look in the mirror and think to myself "Damn girl, you should be a model!" I'm waiting for the side effects to wear off. I'm sure at some point, things will go back to normal. I'll look in the mirror one day and think something like "Ew, what is that pimple doing there?" But I know that when that day comes, there will be a little voice in the back that says "You still mad sexy in those photos. Mmm Hmm." This could happen to you. Be careful. ;)
