We just received our photos from our wedding on 3/21 and all we could say is WOW. My wife and I were just in awe of how amazing the photos looked, especially the portraits which looked like a work of art. We were assigned Reena and Roderick as our main photographer and videographer, and Ben and Tuck as the secondary photographer and videographer. They gave such clear direction to ensure the photos came out the way we wanted. All 4 of them were respectful, professional and very accommodating. We had an extensive list of photo combinations we wanted with the bridal party, our parents, wedding sponsors, and extended family and the Dean Michaels team managed to capture every single moment. I'd ask Reena last minute if we could take pictures at different locations and she would be so accommodating and the photos came out perfect. We are so glad we went with Dean Michaels. It's always tough picking through hundreds of wedding photo companies but my wife and I really liked the style of Dean Michaels which provided a good mix of dramatic and traditional photos without being too over the top. Book them! You won't regret it! All around, absolutely wonderful! Chrissy was our first point of contact, Laura was our photographer, and we had a great videographer. Everyone was so amazing! Chrissy was so helpful, quick to respond and had great communication. At our wedding, they captured the typical posed and beautiful staged shots as well as awesome candid shots! Laura has such a creative eye and got some neat shots I never even considered. I was really happy that they directed me often as well. I kept holding my bouquet very high and she'd tell me to bring it down, she had people throw leaves, found beautiful backgrounds, and would let me know if I was looking down or needed to hold my chin or chest out more. I'd rather have direction than get back photos that aren't that flattering. The videographer was the same, making sure we hit certain cues, moved around or looked certain ways to get the best shots. We received our sneak peek very fast and it just got me even more excited for the rest of the photos! They were also very affordable, offered discounts, didn't charge a credit card surcharge and ensured that no matter what happens, someone would be able to come to the wedding. I was nervous hiring a freelance or smaller photographer after hearing some stories about last minute issues and no photographer showing up. Since this is a studio, there are many photographers and videographers so they guarantee someone will be available at contract signing. So very pleased all around! Update: I wrote that from the sneak peek I received and I just got the final pictures.. they far exceeded expectations! They are breathtaking and so freaking amazing! We booked Dean Michaels Studio for our Photo and Video packing for our wedding about a year prior to our wedding. They were recommended to us by our friends and we knew they were experts at our venue which was a goal of ours! We had Kartheek as our lead photographer. We are beyond thrilled with how our wedding photos have turned out from Dean Michaels Studios. We didn't give too much guidance but Rich was able to capture such a beautiful snapshot of our entire day. I corresponded with Chrissy throughout the planning process and she was very friendly, responsive and helpful in immediately answering all of our questions. Our photographer Rich was also very accommodating and called me to discuss the timeline prior to the day and answered all questions I had. On the day of, we met Rich for our first look at another location (Verona Park) before heading to the venue for the rest of the pictures. He was nothing short of amazing all throughout the day and night and made sure we had taken all the pictures we wanted prior to leaving. We have hundreds of absolutely stunning photos now thanks to him and his incredible work. USB was not provided and no prints were included for that price I feel like since we waited 3 weeks before the wedding we were taken advantage of and should have gone with another company. We (because we're insane) decided in August to have a backyard wedding and reached out to Dean Michaels only two weeks before the actual event. This is my second review for Dean Michael's Studio. The first review was a rave about the service they provided to my husband and me during our wedding. This one is regarding the Maternity Shoot we experienced yesterday with Rich. I encourage all to consider using Dean Michael's Studio, not only for your Engagement Shoot/Wedding, but also for your Maternity Shoots. We met with Rich in Sandy Hook yesterday at 6.00pm. My husband and I brought a few fun props with us, but didn't think the shoot would take more than an hour, at best. Working with Rich was just as we remembered. Rich was excited to pose us perfectly, fix our hair and outfits, find the best lighting, crawl around in the sand, and use different backgrounds around the Sandy Hook area. In fact, we followed him around to three different locations so our pictures had a variety of backdrops. We ended in the water at the bay, with the sunset behind us. Perfection. To be honest with you, I originally thought a Maternity Shoot to be a little corny, for lack of a better word. But the pictures that Rich showed us quickly on his camera spoke for themselves. Not only were they breathtaking pictures that I can't wait to share with my future daughter, but the experience in itself was special, exciting, and lots of fun. Even my husband drove away from the parking lot appreciating the experience. I can't say enough amazing things about Dean Michael's Studio, especially Rich. I have referred them to six other couples, all of which have used and referred them. They are professional, creative, and just plain, nice people. read more

We used dean Michaels for our wedding in September 2017. Truthfully, I cannot say I was a big fan. I was hoping to have a more personal experience with our Photography Company. I was not told who my photographer or videographer was until about a month before the wedding. I did not have any contact information for them either. I received a call from both my photographer and videographer about a week before my wedding to go over details, who was involved in family and bridal party that was basically it. Nothing personal and we did not have any face to face interaction with anyone from the company. THEY ONLY EMAIL I felt the main photographer was kind of nasty the day of the wedding. We had a big bridal party and she just seemed to get annoyed with it. Our poses for pictures were basic and nothing out of the ordinary. Also, many family photos were missed. Me with my niece, sister-in-laws, my husband and my brother. I asked if I needed to make a list of photos I wanted, but was told she would just need a list of family. Originally, we were told our pictures would take 4 weeks after our wedding. When I followed up right after our wedding to see what the process would be, I was then told 4-6 weeks. Then I followed up again at 5 weeks and was told 6-8 PLUS weeks. I had to then follow up again going on 9 weeks for my pictures. I was told that it was a busy wedding season and things took more time. I just wonder why book so many wedding if the delivery is going to be delayed. We received a "sneak peek" over a month after our wedding, where most companies give a sneak peek the week of! Now on to the video, we did not receive a call in regards to our video until MARCH!!!!! I had followed up a couple times and finally got a call. I was not allowed to pick any music for my video, which we were told we would be able to in the beginning. Then when I got the call the video was done, the videographer asked for me to review it in one day and give feedback! There were things I wanted to change but didn't have another chance to watch it within 24 hours. So then a final video was sent to me. At this point I didn't even respond and just kept the video because I was fed up. We were also told that when it was time to create our Wedding Album that we would get a call to come into the office and go over it. Nope, just received an email to send a form in with a $10.00 shipping cost! Truthfully, I just think this is a wedding factory. It really isn't personal at all. Once you send them the check they do not meet with you or get to know you at all after. My photos came out nice, but I believe I could have gotten the same from a smaller studio who give a more personal experience. read more

After reading so many 5-star reviews, we've decided to hire Dean Michaels 2 years before our wedding! We also requested Maggie at that time (since her name was on most reviews) but they said they had to wait until it was close to our wedding date. When I called 6 months prior, I was thrilled when they said Maggie was free on our wedding day! Now I know why she's highly praised - she's amaaazingggg! We were only able to afford 1 photographer but mannn, she's a one-woman army! We were all so blown away at her good attitude & professionalism! I started collecting picture-ideas months before the wedding so I had about 4 pages of pix emailed to them. She called me a week before to inquire about the itinerary & I love how she took down notes; we were also surprised at how many "poses" she remembered from those 4 pages of ideas I sent! So incredibly glad we chose Dean Michaels to do our wedding photos! We live right in Madison and we like to support local business. We originally met with Rich, and he made us feel so welcome during our "consultation" and didn't pressure us to go for a package that was out of our budget. We requested rich to photograph our big day and we were very lucky he was able to when the day came! He kept me calm, my mom and mother in law calm, bridal parties, dads etc. and he is quite funny too! We completely trusted his eye and when we got the photos back they were breathtaking. I don't smile on cue and he had me laughing the entire time. He also is extremely self aware and knows when its time to move on with the shoot. We had a fantastic experience with Dean Michaels studio! We used Dean Michaels for our engagement shoot as well as our wedding on March 24th. Rich was our lead photographer for both the wedding and the engagement shoot. What's great about Dean Michaels is they place you with a photographer who they believe matches with your personalities the best. We requested to have a photographer who was more traditional and we got exactly that. What's also great is they have a team that specializes in the different elements of photography. So, Rich took the photos while another person edits or designs your Save the Dates or Thank You cards. Not even two weeks later, we received our weddings photos...all 2,700 of them! Rich brought along Laurie as well as an intern Ben. We got a 3 for 2 deal! Rich and Laurie were almost exact opposites of each other style wise but that is why our photos have a great mix of traditional and modern photos. We just wished we had more photos of our family (our morning wedding was pushing the time). There were also some poses we were hoping would be better then how they turned out. However, everyone was professional and you can tell they truly appreciate the art of photography. It is a great company but it is a company. Therefore, if you're looking for a more personalized one-on-one experience, Dean Michaels may not be the right option for you. read more

Very Little creativity in my wedding photos. I thought I was paying for a photojournalistic style wedding album. Unfortunately my relatives took better pictures than my two photographers that day. Most of the photos were staged, and there were no silhouettes (which I thought was a pretty basic way to be creative through photography) . Both photographers were very nice people, but I must admit they did a mediocre job. My video was lack-luster as well...Amateur at best. We ended up finding Dean Michael's and we are so glad we did!!! My husband and I are extremely happy with our pictures!! The photographs are extremely important in a wedding because after all is said and done that's the only reminder of that special day. We met with Nicola who was very thorough and made us feel comfortable to choose Dean Michael's right away. She offered us a package within our budget and assured us that everything would be great. Rich and Maggie were our photographers and they did an amazing job. We have over 3000 pictures of our day and it was a good mix between fun and traditional shots giving us a lot of options to choose from.
