We have actually…read moreworked with Sweet Mango a couple of times before this as well, for both our engagement photoshoot and our elopement photos, and they blew us away every single time with their skill, commitment, professionalism, and kindness. When it came time to find a wedding photographer for our big day, it was a no brainer! We love you, Sweet Mango! On the day of, Ricky arrived much EARLIER than we paid for, because he wanted to capture as much of the getting ready process as possible. We're super grateful for this, and he got tons of great photos we would not otherwise have! From the moment he walked into our hotel suite, he was all action, camera out, and ready to take photos. For this day, and for all of our other shoots with Sweet Mango, he gave great directions on how to pose for photos, was so creative with how he framed his shots, and flexible and adapted to the sun/weather/background and whatever other obstacles may come his way. Even though we did not get a second shooter and he single handedly had to cover the entire venue and all 100 guests at our event, including an entire lion dance troupe, he rose to the occasion and did just that and much more. I also want to take a moment and highlight the exceptional photo and color editing that Ricky and his partner Avianne do. Our photos from both previous shoots have received tons of compliments from friends and family, and although we have not yet gotten photos from our wedding, we have no doubt that they will be equally high quality and gorgeous. Ricky and Avianne, as well as Abby, are exceptionally skilled individuals. However, it's rare to also find photographers who are just as thoughtful, creative, and super, super kind. They are generous with their time and do all they can to ensure that you get the photos that you'll be happy with for a lifetime. Thank you for everything, Sweet Mango.

They were a pleasure to work with on the day of--organized, fun, unobtrusive, and put at ease. We're really picky about photos and video, and dislike most of the ones we see from other weddings, which often feel a bit overwrought and 'wedding'-y. BOM documented the wedding exactly to our tastes: down-to-earth, extremely well composed, and captured the day beautifully. They also did lovely posed Korean-style couple photos in addition, which was important to us. Adam, the videographer, put together a wonderful video that was also exactly what we were looking for (both a short trailer-style and a longer one, about an hour and a quarter). It similarly felt like a very natural and satisfying document of our wedding. He was also extremely patient and spent a long time working with us, accommodating our feedback to get the video exactly to our preferences. I doubt we could have found either photos or videos better from anywhere else, even booking them separately, and the package together from BOM was a great deal. Could not recommend more highly.

He was very professional, on-time and super behind the scenes throughout the day. We barely even noticed him there all day but captured such amazing and unique photos. He's artistic, creative and energetic. He provided services above and beyond just wedding photography to help make our wedding day unique and personal - he provided Polaroid cameras for our photo guest book, used a go-pro to capture some video of the day and provided a 2nd photographer for the ceremony, all at a very reasonable price point. He's truly passionate about his photography to the point where our families' and friends' noticed and commented on how great of a wedding photographer he was. We would definitely recommend him to anyone getting married in the city. Thanks again for everything Danny! Elise & Dan (5.16.15)

Our guests had nothing but great things to say about the music Austin played at cocktail hour, which was a mix of Nick Drake, Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, and requests we had taken from answers in our RSVPs. When it was time to start dancing, he kicked things off with some Whitney Houston and was extremely welcoming and inviting. In lieu of a wedding band, we organized a DIY jam session involving a good chunk of our guests, who were also musicians. Austin kept the night moving by being ready with transition music between sets and personnel changeovers. He was extremely knowledgeable about gear and communicative with us about our timeline. We hired DJ Dre for our wedding in January and loved working with her! She is upbeat, kind, and fun. Our family and guests had nothing but good things to say about her. Our wedding was a culturally mixed affair, with a wide variety of music tastes and preferences. Dre did a great job incorporating all of them into the mix, bringing everyone out to the dance floor. She was receptive and took time prior to the wedding date to get to know us, our vision, and showed up prepared and invested for our meetings and the day of the wedding. She took our creative ideas and ran with them, putting together an incredibly fun script to introduce a game we made up for our guests to play at our reception. Her enthusiasm took it to the next level and had all our guests engaged and creating lasting memories. Thank you DJ Dre and Beat Train for being a beautiful part of our big day!

Jovon came highly recommended and seemed organized and professional upfront. Before the wedding,…read morecommunication was great--but once the event was over and they were fully paid, everything fell apart. We submitted a detailed shot list in advance, which the lead photographer, Lena, admitted she barely glanced at and chose to ignore. Important, personal photos we requested were completely missed--and somehow, we were blamed. Even though she admitted fault, we were told timelines were the issue. There was no accountability, and no apology. The video team missed a key moment from our reception and gave us a rushed trailer with mismatched music. When we flagged the errors (that should've been caught with a basic review), we were told we'd have to wait two more months for a revision. Absurd. We were constantly following up on every piece of this process--Photoshop edits, album corrections, video revisions. There was no quality control, no urgency, and we were the ones catching their mistakes over and over again. We even drove out to meet with them in person to get things resolved. Jovon, the owner, made a lot of promises--that we'd be made a priority, that things would be expedited. But afterward? Nothing. He called once, said he'd follow up, and then disappeared. No resolution, no genuine accountability. The admin, Lisa, was rigid with her limited schedule and not helpful when trying to coordinate team meetings. The editing team was sweet and you could tell they really cared to make us happy, but clearly inexperienced--we had to walk them through multiple corrections on video calls they'd never done before. For the price we paid, this lack of professionalism was shocking. The only bright spot was Carlos, their lead videographer. He was kind, positive, and tried his best--but unfortunately, his efforts were drowned out by the team's carelessness. In the end, we did get our final photos and videos only because we spent countless personal hours managing their process, reviewing everything ourselves, and doing the job they should have been doing. We really hate writing a review like this--especially about a family-owned business--but we gave them so many chances to make it right, and they just didn't care enough. If you're considering Jovon Photography: they will treat you like a priority until your wedding is over. After that, you'll be chasing them for months, fixing their mistakes, and left heartbroken by how little care is given to your most important memories.
