In short: Joe was great, made the experience very straight forward (which it should be). Love his range of music from older and newer decades. Beat Train provides a lot of services on top of just a DJ that I recommend as well. Joe was always available to talk with us. He really has things under control for our wedding at the W Loft in Brooklyn. So if are looking for a stress-free experience, he is your guy. I looked into Joe specifically because I wanted someone with experience with 80s music (hip-hop, freestyle, funk, synth-pop, new-wave) and Latino music, and hit the mark and made sure to infuse more modern music that we had requested as well. Joe also helped us with microphones and speakers for our ceremony and wedding party speeches, which is nice not to have to worry about. Also, a review of the company's music program (where you select which songs you absolutely want, maybe want, and definitely don't want on top of filling out details about what music should be played during the ceremony, dinner, etc.): this was more than helpful, so I recommend that any company you go for have a program like this that you can edit the details of the music you want throughout your wedding at any moment before your big day. In short: Amazing experience with DJ David Victor for our wedding DJ & MC! My wife let me do all the music planning for our wedding and I hired DJ David Victor. David was great to work with the entire process of wedding planning and executing on the day. We initially found him through the Beat Train website and enjoyed his R&B mix tape, which was the vibe we were aiming for. From our initial call, DJ David was very clear in his expectation and was also great at listening to our needs as the wedding couple. When planning your wedding one of the important things is to go with your gut and David was very professional and straight to the point which made it all that much easier to work with him. He also provided us a Music planning form which allowed us to requests songs to play and not to play. We talked in the months and weeks leading up to the wedding and when we hired our wedding coordinator - it was a smooth transition for David. On the day of our wedding, David showed up few hours early before cocktail hour to familiarize himself with our venue's sound system and made sure everything was running smoothly. It also helped that he had experience in our venue prior. Then he entertained our guests with his music and MCing from 5pm-10pm cocktail hour into reception. Everything went smoothly after cocktail hour, to bridal introductions, first dance, parents dance, music during first course, bridesmaids dance, Groomsmon dance and onwards. Only regret is not extending an additional hour just because our guests were having so much fun on the dance floor. From the get go, music was one of the most important aspects of our Brooklyn wedding. We wanted it to feel like a cool night out with your best friends, where you were having too much fun to leave the dance floor - and David 100000% delivered. We still hear from attendees of all ages on how our wedding was one of the most fun they've attended, and there's zero doubt that this was thanks to David. In the lead up to our wedding, David was thoughtful and so open, investing heavily in understanding what vibe we were going for and what music we liked. We sent through a number of songs we/our guests loved, but mostly left it to David's devices to curate the playlist. On the day of, David arrived early and made sure to connect with our coordinator and officiant without us having to manage this. We genuinely did not have to worry at all about a thing; David cued our walk down and back up the aisle perfectly, introduced us as husband and wife with so much excitement, and helped manage the speeches as we wanted. Every song David played was perfect. We wanted fun music that would have mums and 20 somethings out on the dance floor, and sure enough, he walked that line perfectly. The best part was that he seemed to be having fun too, and there's nothing better than looking over at your DJ and seeing them having a blast - a total vibe add. I (the bride) was especially struck by David's thoughtfulness at the end of the night. He had 2 more songs to go, and remembered that I had wanted a specific song but he had an idea that he thought would be the perfect lead up to the last song and wanted to see what I wanted to do. We worked with David as our DJ and I told him early on how the music/dance floor were the MOST vital part of the wedding to me. The music ended up being I wanted it to be and more. I had sent over the Must Play List as well as a playlist with some songs I love to clue him into the vibe and he nailed it. Whenever David added songs, they were always the exact right one. Getting to dance with my family and friends and husband to this wonderful music will be a memory that lasts a lifetime. David also nailed the perfect execution on things like the processional and the special dances. Everyone I spoke to of ALL generations commented on how amazing the dance floor was and how fantastic his music selection was, with a lot saying it was the best DJ they've ever heard at a wedding, and I couldn't agree more. Joe Lopez DJ'd our wedding, at Brooklyn Winery in September of 2021. Joe met with my husband and I prior to our event, looking for our main songs (walk down the aisle, first dance, parent dances, etc), and asked for details on the different moments of our evening. He worked with us to curate the perfect blend of jazz/Motown for cocktail hour, instrumental for dinner, and focused on transition music between courses. We were clear with Joe that, given we had to postpone our wedding and covid caused a hell of a year for everyone, our main goal was to throw a big party for all of our friends and family; we wanted a dancing, singing, fun, party vibe. We asked that the majority of our night was spent on the dance floor and we wanted to included all of our diverse guests. He worked with all our genres - funk, jazz (for dinner), R&B, hip hop, salsa, Latin pop, and indie rock. We first spoke with Jake and Elissa who were helpful, replied quickly, and gave us a very professional proposal. Eventually we settled on Esther as our DJ, who unfortunately became unavailable due to the pandemic, but Elissa recommended DJ David to us instead, and he did an AMAZING job. On the wedding day, he flawlessly managed the complex timing of the ceremony music through the venue's Sonos system. During dinner, he played a beautiful mix of requests from us and our guests. Then he killed the reception -- the dance floor was literally full all night! More than all of this, though, we asked him to do a few custom mash-ups for the family dances, and WOW! David so generously used his own time to create our mixes, and they were 100% perfect. He is seriously talented. David went above and beyond, and we were SO grateful. Based on sample playlists from his page on the Beat Train website, we chose Gustavo. During our initial Zoom meeting, we explained that his role and the music were the most important components of our wedding and that we needed him to engage the guests in both languages (English and Spanish) equally. For weeks, we worked to create very meaningful and personal playlists and selected songs for the important moments throughout our wedding. All of this was provided in a clear, well-organized worksheet to Gustavo, and he insisted we would hear it all. We worked with him on pronouncing our names correctly (my spouse's first name and my last name), and also reviewed some very important announcements and directions he would need to give in order to help control the flow of the crowd from one area of the venue to the next. We paid for three different sound systems--one for each of the three separate areas at the wedding venue. He arrived with only two, and then was scrambling to move equipment and left our wedding in limbo during several important movements. He failed to control the flow and movement of our guests, was absent and missing in action when needed, failed to play the music we spent so much time selecting with care and meaning, overall did not engage with the crowd, and even mispronounced our names incorrectly throughout the evening. In addition, the DJ was given specific instructions to either not play music with curse words, or to ensure that curse words were bleeped out. Two different very vulgar words were allowed to play in Spanish language songs. We explicitly told Gustavo that we did NOT wish to play indigenous Andean music at our wedding. As soon as guests were seated in the reception, that's exactly what he turned on, and then he left and was nowhere to be found! It was the second such disappearance, the first having been during the cocktail hour when he set up a small sound system --also with some random, meaningless music that had nothing to do with what we discussed nor selected, and then went to set up his other sound system on the other end of the property. The only complaints we actually received from our own guests during and after the wedding were regarding the DJ. At the end of the night, none of the important announcements/directions were made, leading to guests being confused as to what they needed to do, how much time they had before boarding a shuttle back to the hotel, not knowing they were invited to take the edible cornucopia centerpieces for which we paid thousands of dollars, then only to be loaded back into cardboard boxes and then removed by the vendors. He didn't even instruct guests where to go for dessert, cake, or inform them about the beverage stations. He was, in a word, a failure. read more

WOW where do I begin?!?!?! I had Beat Train DJ my wedding this past Sunday, and what a great decision it was to try Beat Train Productions!! My wife and I fell in love with DJ Sam Turner hearing his mixes on the website, AND MAN he was great during our wedding!!!! Sam was very professional, laid back, easy to work with, and quick on ALL his replies. He helped me make some customized songs for my dance routine and patiently made sure that it was exactly what I wanted. The amazing part is that the mixes were done in just a few emails! The best decision I've made was to just let Sam do his thing. I gave him no restrictions and just basically entrusted him with my party, and he delivered flawlessly. We had two meetings and he basically understood our music preferences quickly. If you have the pleasure with working with Sam, please do yourself a favor and let Sam do his thing. My dance floor was packed the whole entire night and he was able to adapt really quickly to any last minute changes. He controlled the mood of the party and kept it going! My husband and I used Beat Train for DJing and a photobooth at our wedding earlier this year, and they were wonderful to work with throughout the whole process. Eric was our photobooth tech. He showed up early and did a great job. Our guests had a great time with the photobooth and we now have dozens of funny and ridiculous photos of our guests. Sam Turner was our DJ, and we couldn't have been more pleased. Sam struck the rare balance of being simultaneously laid back and reassuring, while also taking the job very seriously -- being prompt and dedicated in everything he did for us. We had complete confidence that he'd do a great job from day one. He consistently went above and beyond what was required. He met with us several times to talk through music. He promptly exchanged emails back and forth, editing our first dance song to make sure it was exactly what we wanted. And, on the day of the wedding, he showed up hours earlier than he needed to so that he could familiarize himself with the space and resolve any lingering issues or questions. Most importantly, everyone at our wedding loved the music. Because we trusted Sam, we gave him some "must play" songs but otherwise told him to play what he thought people would enjoy. Joel was my wedding superstar. From the beautiful, perfectly timed processional to the first dance to the last wonderful drunken sing-along he hit every moment absolutely right. I wanted the ceremony serious and calm and I had some complicated instructions on timing and music. He nailed every single song all the way down to the super obscure Final Fantasy tracks I requested (random, I know). It was also just as important to me that people had fun at the reception and got out of their seats and danced. Can I tell you that there was basically no time at which the dance floor was unoccupied the entire night?? People just wouldn't sit down. Old, young, grouchy - even the "I don't dance" types were up and loving this music all night long. Anyone who has spent over a year planning a wedding knows that hearing that people had a great time is one of the ultimate goals in the whole process (well that and the magic vows exchanging moment). In the last 2 months since our wedding I have heard from over a dozen people that ours was the best wedding they have *ever* been to. Every single one of them mentioned the DJ and the fact that he somehow transformed a wedding reception into an all out dance party suited for absolutely all ages. How he managed this without being cheesy or playing any true dance music I don't really know. But I am so grateful to have found him. I should also mention that Beat Train was open, honest, easy to work with and even helped me to split out some of the cost at the beginning when I was a little tight on cash (Ari is super nice). If I ever have an occasion to hire another DJ, Beat Train and Joel will absolutely be the first on my list. read more
