This a cute boba shop located in Kalihi. The are closed Saturdays and the parking can be tricky and there are many pot holes on the road (just a heads up)! They offer snowthies which they describe as a smoothie and shave milk ice. They are really good! I got the strawberry and mango snowthie. They both are refreshing and seem to have fruit puree. I have also tried their milky tea which is non dairy. It is not quite like milk tea but still has that tea flavor that is pretty strong, it is unique and difficult to describe. The milky tea comes with two toppings of your choice. The boba is tasty but I did find it had a slightly bitter aftertaste. One thing to note is that the snowthies contain whole milk. There are no alternative milk options, so be sure to bring your lactaid! Over all this place makes great drinks for a reasonable price ($6-$8). Overall I would come back for more! read more

I'm not a huge fan of boba drinks but this one is definitely worth trying! It's different in that it has snow ice in it and the flavors they have are quite good. It's simple on the outside but quite quaint on the inside. Very cozy and comfortable. The service was okay, nothing special but pretty quick in getting your order. I had the chocolate snowthie. I'm not too sure why I believe they use to serve their Snow ice on a plate or bowl - but it kind of irritated me I guess that it's in a cup - feel like it's not really worth the price you pay but everyone is different. It was good but you might as well order a boba drink instead of the snow ice in my opinion. But what really pissed me off is I felt like I was scammed. They had a new claw machine inside and I'm a sucker for claw machines. I read it said "two coins to play" thinking it was $0.50 a game. I went to my car and got $1.50 but I needed to exchange for a quarter since I used dimes & nickels. The cashier after exchanging it told me, "sorry but it doesn't take coins only bills." So I figured alright if it's broken then I'll get a dollar bill. In my head thinking at least I'll get the automatic 2 plays. I go to put my dollar in and the machine says 1/2 coins. I tried to see if I could push a button to get a refund. Nope. So I ended up having to put another bill in since I didn't wanna miss out on a $1. I just wish they put a sign like other machines that said $2 a play or $1 a play yadda yadda. The cashier saw how much I had for the machine and could've easily told me that it was $2 a play. A delicious and unique take on Hawaiian shave ice with boba drinks inspired flavors and kawaii decor! We stopped by Milky Way on the first day of our trip to Oahu after finding it online. This spot is known for its milk tea shave ice with brown sugar syrup and boba toppings, which is exactly what I ordered and it was so delicious! My daughter got the regular milk tea with boba, pretty much the same flavors without being in shave ice form. I preferred the shave ice version as it contrasted with the warm squishy boba toppings. My husband reeeeeally loved the shave ice that he shared with me and we were excited to go back again a couple of days after but found out they are closed on the weekend. The parking stalls are labeled with the business' names, so, be careful of where you park. (I actually parked at the church down the street - I was quick!) Inside, Milky Way has cute decor, indoor dining, and fantastic air conditioning! Service was efficient and polite. I got the Winter melon Tea (non-dairy) with Rainbow Jelly. You can't miss and resist their vibrant and fun artsy truck in Kaka'ako and when they found a permanent home in Kalihi you know I was so excited knowing I'm able to get my fix at my schedule. Yes it's in Kalihi hiding right behind San Nicolas and there are a few parkings though many are reserved by the specific business on this visit it was quite challenging to find the right one and the uneven pavement has me weaving to my destination. Walking in I did like the vibe here with the fun neon "Milky Way" sign surrounded by clouds and though the decor is simple each corner had it's own little sitting nook to enjoy your sip or get some work done. Their menu is what really makes them special with from basic tea of black, green and my favorite "Winter Melon", then it's their Snowthie which is their smoothie topped with shaved ice which they also have a Snow Tea where instead of smoothie it's with Tea. Another fun item is their Snow Ice and they build it like a boba drink where my favorite is the Pineapple Snow Ice though on this day I was just mad craving for my favorite Winter Melon tea which was absolutely yummy!!! I must say that I this is one of my top favorite boba shops. I rave about them to all of my friends and family and have been telling them that they need to try it. This was my third or fourth time time here and was so excited about it. Upon entering, there were two other customers waiting for their order. We waited to make our order as the employee was making the previous order. When she was done, she sat on a stool fronting the register and waited there until we were ready. She did not greet us or thank us for waiting. I had asked her a few questions about the items on the menu but she didn't seem to happy about answering me. That was a bit upsetting as I really like going to get boba drinks from here, but their customer service was really bad on this visit. When we got our drinks, one drink did not have a lid so I kindly asked for one. She looked at me and took a lid from the stack of lids and placed it on the counter closer to her. The Milky Way truck was at a craft fair event in Mililani. I got the mango snowthie, which I'm assuming is a combination of snow and a smoothie. I loved the consistency of the snow. It was pretty light, but went well with the thickness of the mango smoothie. It was super refreshing for a hot day. It's tucked into a small building but you can't miss it because they have their colorful truck in front. The interior is super cute and there's some seating available. We happened to be in the area and wanted a drink. I've always passed by the place since I work in Kalihi and I've seen the truck parked in Moiliili before but never actually tried it. It's a good thing they have a sign on the front of the building or you would definitely miss it because it is tucked on the back side of the building. It was just 1 lady inside and she made them pretty quickly. So glad we did because it was sooooo good I got the strawberry mango and they use real fruits which was delicious and the snow was so soft and pillowy and creamy. I went here on the Kuhio Day holiday in March, 2023. The shop is in the back of a building which has a sausage factory and some industrial uses. There are very few customer stalls. Nadine C. and I parked our cars in the Kalihi Union Church lot. She inferred that we wouldn't get towed away. Donna O., Gabe C., and Deb C. ditched us and went to Samurai down the street. We joined them later. So i ate two desserts that holiday. After eating lunch at Auntie Z's Kitchen and buying cookies at the Diamond Bakery factory store. Oh, and that night I ate at Better Bites Thai & More and we got a complimentary FBI - fried banana and ice cream - which was shared with Daryl. So three desserts on that holiday for this diabetic. Anyway, I got a Milky Way Signature Boba Milk Tea. It was a perfectly prepared drink. The boba pearls were fresh, and the tea was full flavored and not too sweet. I can't remember what Nadine got but knowing her, she probably already posted her review, so you can get the details there. I think the major negatives for me are the lack of parking and the distance from my usual haunts. If I'm in the area, I might again partake if I see an available parking stall. read more

Today (March 3rd) is the last day for the Milky Way grand opening special for BOGO $2. I loved their food truck that was previously located in the Kakaako area so I had to swing by of course. Their drinks range from $5-$7 and have a good variety of toppings. My personal favorite is the Milky Way milk tea with amber boba. Their boba is bigger than some other places but has a nice chewy and brown sugar taste to it. Their drinks I don't believe can be adjusted but I don't find them personally too sweet even with the boba. My boyfriend got the same drink but in their snow ice form which is also really good! This is it as the "smoothie" form. Their interior is very clean and cute with bold pops of yellow. I think this is definitely a step up in the right direction from having just a good truck before. I'll definitely be back to try their other treats as this location is pretty close to me. Such a wonderful unexpected spot right next to Kalihi Super Meats & San Nicolas Restaurant on North King St. From the moment you step inside you are immediately transported away from the crazy busy city streets and into an very bright, cheerful, modern calming space. It was nice to just sit and listen to the soft jazz playing in the background and just unwind with a refressing icy cold drink. We have obviously had bubble drink teas before but this was defintely different. I love how fresh evrything tasted. We wanted to try their Snowthies and boy did we enjoy it! Our drinks had the perfect amount of sweetness and I especially really loved the shaved milk ice that they top it off with. The Boba was a perfect add on! Defintely a treat! I love the decor of this beautiful cafe. The music was soft and soothing so I was able to focus when studying. It has a nice open feel, not overcrowded. Ordering was very easy and we received our order very quickly. The Pineapple Snow Ice was so yummy! The pineapple was fresh and the lemon jelly wasn't tart; it was just perfect. Before we left because we just had to have more, we ordered the Milk Tea Snow Ice and Wintermelon Tea with boba and grass jelly. I was pleasantly surprised that the grass jelly was not overpowering. Milky Way Hawaii definitely offers more unique drinks compared to other boba/tea shops in Honolulu by incorporating snow ice into their drinks. This place is located along A, 1, and 7 bus lines. Their parking lot is very narrow and the stress of the parking situation can be exacerbated when you come during a time when there are delivery trucks. Their shave ice is very fine which I really like because it just melts right in your mouth! Their boba is also one of the best I've tried! The Amber Boba is soft, warm, and chewy and has a brown sugar taste, but the size is larger compared to other shops' bobas. I've tried three different drinks from here: Snow Tea, Strawberry Snowthie, and the Milky Way Snow Ice. Despite sounding very similar in name (Snow Tea vs Snowthie vs Snow Ice), the drinks are different yet similar. The Snow Tea is basically snow ice in the center of the cup surrounded by milk tea. You would have to drink it with a straw. The Snow Tea already has amber boba included when you order. The Snowthie is a smoothie with snow ice. It is meant to be drank with a straw. You would have to request for toppings for the Snowthie. The Strawberry Snowthie tasted the sweetest of the 3 drinks I've tried, almost tasted & had the consistency of a strawberry milkshake. I noticed that the Snow Tea had more snow ice in it than the Snowthie does. The Strawberry Snowthie, although being more liquified in its form, its consistency was thicker than the Snow Tea's. On the other hand, the Snow Ice is meant to be eaten with a spoon. The Milky Way Snow Ice already has amber boba included. So far, my favorite is the Snow Tea. read more
