No waterfall - not sure what other reviewers saw, but there's just a little bridge over a creek. The park is right next to the highway, so it's a little noisy. A few of us started coming here when our usual dog park became ill-maintained. We love the fact that there is grass, a functional water fountain (although it is in a concrete area between the two entrance gates... could they not have put it inside the park?), benches, and it seems to be well-maintained. Downsides are the extreme noise from I-285, suspicious looking people wandering around the park (If you come here with a group or other dogs, you will be fine), and there's soooooo many mosquitos in the summer because of the nearby pond. Also, because it is not visited often, and also quite large, there's a lot of dog poop that never got picked up either due to irresponsibility of the owner or simply not being able to find it!

Though it is completely fenced, if you have a smaller dog, you will probably definitely want to follow them around the first time you go. It's that big. The first time I took my puppy, someone actually offered to help me go find him because he had disappeared. Luckily, just at that moment, he came running out of the woods. There's also a small pool that you can fill up with water for your dogs and several water bowls. The park is a bit hidden, so you really have to look for the chain-link fence. There is no one area for small or big dogs. And there are several areas for seating. For me, this would not be an every day park, but maybe once a month for the new smells and new dogs.

Oakhurst is dog heaven - I'm so thankful that this beautiful plot of land has been preserved and set aside for dogs to enjoy. There is just one area (no separation between small and large), but the park is big and includes pools, an open space, agility equipment, and fenced in shaded trails. The trails make this spot so unique and so nice to go on an off leash "hike" - it's a peaceful and shady spot that stays cool even on the hottest days. The park is very well maintained by volunteers, and we've found dog owners to be very friendly and attentive on each of our visits.

She walked in nervous but based on the size, separation, terrain, and generally amount of fun corners to explore, she walked out of there tail up, nose up, and exhausted! So happy to have found this very well maintained park on a trip to explore prior to moving to the area! Side note: pick up after your dogs! Bring your own doggie bags, limited trash cans, looks like some amazing locals maintain the drinking water and that's much appreciated!!

When I went the seating was pretty bad and sparce, which isn't rare for public dog parks, and it was hard for me to find the second section of the park at first. I usually prefer a dog park that's a size where you can both sit and keep an eye on your dog the whole time, and is large enough for dogs to play in and have a lot of space, and there are better parks with better layouts for both of these in Atlanta. I'd recommend Oakhurst. Why the bad review though? I've gone to dog parks frequently for 18 months, and Adair is the only dog park where someone STOLE MY DOG'S LEASH. WHO DOES THAT. Now that I've spent more time in dog parks, I find the fact that that happened even stranger than it was at first, because I've never even heard of it happening somewhere else. And because of the street only parking, I had to carry my 30lb dog back to my car. Completely insane.

The dog park is sectioned off for large and small dogs. My review is based on the large dog park. Half of the park is filled with gravel makes the area cleaner than most after a rainy day. The other half is like a forested area with dirt. On hot afternoons, many dog owners and their pups gather in that area to keep cool. PROS: - 3 water stations - Multiple poop bag dispensers that always stocked in my experience - Lots of benches throughout the park - Wash off area outside the park - Almost always occupied with dogs throughout the day - Gravel - Convenient walking trail entrance adjacent to park - Well lit parking lot and park CONS: - Some days, there's more poop on the ground than others. Not too bad though. - The wash off area can be cleaner - Not close enough to home :( Parking is plentiful. I never have trouble finding parking unless there's a festival/event going on in the park. ** Note: Dog park is closed from 9am-12pm first Wednesday each month for cleaning** Bravo to the Brook Run community/volunteers who contribute to keeping this park clean and well stocked.

The only issue we would have is that there are a lot of small dog owners in the large breed area, and sometimes it feels like our pup can't freely play without worry that he would accidentally run them over.
