I love going for a hike here. Lots of good paved, or wooden deck trails. It's a benefit for the area. I found some colorful graffiti on the buildings that once were a water treatment facility. The trails run along a creek, so that's always nice. We saw a kinglet on our walk this day.

My kids love this place, so much stuff to play with and running around the entire time .

I really enjoyed my time at this park. I've only been once and from what I gathered there's a children's playground, walking trail & tennis center. It was definitely pretty hot outside when I went but the trees offered a good amount of shade on the trail and there was a nice breeze. Not your typical park trail where the sun is beaming down on you. This a great park for biking! I noticed there were a few trail options I only tried South Peachtree creek trail which was very nice and not challenging. You are walking over a bridge the majority of the time in this direction which goes over the creek. Once I got to the street which I assumed was the end it was a little unclear whether the trail had ended.. maybe I'm not park savvy enough but i just turned around at that point. The park wasn't too crowded for a weekday evening which was great. I look forward to trying the other trails!

Awesome playground. They have this gigantic tower for kids to climb up an the slide down. One of the nicer parks I have ever been to. Worth a 20 minute drive to visit this park. If you have kids that are under 12, this will be a hit for them. Parents can relax. Plenty of parking, its clean, park is well maintained, Restrooms are clean, plenty of seating and pavilions for rental if needed. I came by because I have 3 Pokemon trainers in the house and after the 5th Great Nest Migration, this park became the only Charmander nest in and around ATL. There were plenty of parking, and that helped manage the crowd. Plenty of folks were walking about, searching and catching these elusive creatures. I am also happy to see that there is a strict no-smoking policy. Which is great , cos all the kids are around as well. How many Charmanders.. well, about 10-12 were nabbed in 1.5 hours. Come get em before the next Great Nest Migration....

What a beautiful park to take the kids. I am so lucky to have Mason Mill Park within distance. It is even a 2-3 minute walk from the Toco Hill Avis G. Williams Library. At this park there is ample space for kids of all ages. There are two play areas divided for bigger and smaller kids. Plenty of climbing, running, jumping, swinging activities for children. The parents were also friendly. The park has walking trails and a center - something I would definitely explore more. Excited to keep bringing my kid here.

I really stumbled on Mason Mill Park, as I started at Medlock park, walked the South Peachtree Creek Trail (which connects these two parks) and got to Mason mill, saying what's this place??? Mason mill is one of the more family friendly parks i've come across in the Decatur area. Front and center is a large children's play area, garden, tennis courts and recreation center where they hold classes for kids, senior citizens, etc. In addition to all of the great fun I mentioned, this also connects up to the peachtree creek trail, which is about a 1.2 mile paved and boardwalk trail, that meanders in forested area, parallels a creek, and goes behind and through residential area. Also along the main trail, you can see little stringer trails that go in and out of the woods, to creek beds, to forests, and other hidden trails that make this a really fun stretch of a walkway. Moving slightly away from the Mason Mill park foot print, the portion of the peachtree creek trail that connects to Mason Mill is far more photo friendly than the end at Medlock Park i'd say. Just a few steps away from Mason mill sets you up on a nice overpass walkway over train tracks that stretch as far as the eyes can see, and just a few more steps away is graffiti that misses nothing, not even the trees, and it's all kinda cool to see! For all you Pokemon go fans, there were several players spinning around with their phones out, trying to catch 'em all (or they were horribly lost). End of the day, Mason Mill is a park that has a bit for everyone from kid, to adult, to athlete, to Pokemon catcher, and you really should go check it out!

My first time and it was extremely enjoyable! I loved the way this trail is designed an amazing maze!

This is more for the South Peachtree Creek Trail, which runs from Mason Mill Park to Medlock Park. While the concrete path is nice for a stroll, I like the off-path trails. In some places, you can imagine you're not even in a city. Also, the old water treatment building ruins have some awesome artwork painted on them.

I don't know how or why, but this is the best small park I have seen in Atlanta so far. It's uber modern, everything is new and the kids go Nutts when they come here. They have rock climbing, swings, tunnels, games and extremely well kept grounds. What I liked the most is that for a brief moment I did not feel like I was in segregated Atlanta. This park has to be one of the most diverse places I have been to in Atlanta. It was Dope to see kids from all ethnic backgrounds playing together, in a Beautiful kumbaya-ish atmosphere. Having lived in NYC,London and SF to name a few real cities, this was a great surprise.

This park is connected to a beautiful cemetery with such interesting history and views. It is so calming walking the paved paths amongst the burial sites and seeing the love and adoration of the families caring for their ancestors' resting places over the years. This park also has a tennis court, a public pool, a basketball court, a small baseball field, a general field, a pond, and a playground. It is clean and quiet, and those visiting the park are incredibly friendly. I tend to rate parks based on their visitors, and most of my "good evenings" were met with a very pleasant response unlike some of the more busy parks in ATL. There were families riding their bikes together, couples strolling amongst the graveyard, an older gentleman fishing in the pond, young men competing on the basketball court, people respectfully walking their dogs, a yoga session happening in the field and much more. This park is a catch-all for any age and experience. I'm sure I'm missing some of the amenities -- it has a lot to offer. Shout out to Decatur for maintaining this little gem. I highly recommend.

If traveling from…read moredowntown on I-20 eastbound, Glenwood Park is just off exit 59B (Memorial Drive, Glenwood Avenue). If traveling westboard towards downtown, take exit 60 (US 23, Moreland Avenue). This low key neighborhood, sandwiched between Grant Park and East Atlanta Village, is sort of "hidden." I think if you asked the average metro Atlantan if they've heard of Glenwood Park, they'd probably say no. Glenwood Park opened the same year as Midtown's Atlantic Station. Like Atlantic Station, Glenwood Park is all about urban and sustainable living. Unlike Atlantic Station, Glenwood Park isn't big. It's relatively small at just under 30 acres in total size. It's a lot quieter and isn't as commercialized. The property feels more residential than anything with quiet streets and wide sidewalks with nicely manicured lawns. After about a decade of existence, the development still looks great. There's a park/greenspace with a picturesque pond and a beautiful fountain. The community collects almost two-million gallons of its own well water per year in order to irrigate the park and street trees. There's a community garden where residents can reserve plots filled with high quality, organic soil. There's a dog park, playground, and neighborhood pool. One courtyard features a little stone fountain and full-sized bocce ball court. The layout was designed with pedestrians in mind, though there's plenty of free street parking and parking lots located on the development. It's clean and feels safe. The Atlanta BeltLine runs through the neighborhood in a north-south line. Food-lovers probably know Glenwood Park because of its restaurants, Gunshow, The Shed at Glenwood, and Vickery's Bar & Grill. Local celebrity chef Kevin Gillespie opened Gunshow in 2013 with fellow chefs Andreas Muller and Joey Ward. It may very well be *the* best restaurant in Atlanta. It's certainly one of the most fun and unique with it's American-style dim sum. You can read my review of Gunshow here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/gunshow-atlanta-2?hrid=_Zvxkqv86FBPQtUBysU21Q. The Shed at Glenwood is a modern farm-to-table restaurant with seasonal fare. Vickery's, known for its cocktails and burgers, opened its second Atlanta location in Glenwood Park. Drip coffee shop also has a location here.

I'm not sure how to review a neighborhood but it shouldn't be too hard. This place is great -…read morebungalow style houses, flats, condos, townhomes and great neighbors. There are a handful of retail businesses on the south end of the neighborhood that we frequent and the usual smattering of intown amenities - proximity to downtown, Virginia Highland, Starlight Six Drive-In. You get the point. Since moving here in 2009 we have made so many good friends and really love where we live. There's a community garden, a pool/gym and a dedicated dog park free to residents (as of this writing). A brownfield redevelopment and product of Green Street properties, GWP is home to the 2005 Southern Living Idea House. Many of the homes are distinct in design, presentation and vary in style but all still flow together. Most lots are very small but we managed to eke out a wonderful front flower garden and transform the triangle shaped garden in the back into a treed and flowered sanctuary. We tried our hand at gardening in the community garden but the summer Atlanta sun and invasive weeds had us handily beat by mid July. In October each year, the Hotoberfest beer festival is held in and around the main park (now Brewer Park) drawing a few thousand people to the neighborhood. Less exciting but nearly as big a draw (maybe stretching here) is the annual garage sale. A handful of movies have been filmed here including the Blind Side and Hall Pass as is part of the Real Housewives of Atlanta (one of them lives here as of this writing). Like other neighborhoods that started mid real estate boom but not finished before the bang, there are empty lots, foreclosures and short sales. The last builder to get going has long ago gone out of business and a few independent developers have put up new homes but it remains to be seen if the original vision of Green Street and the first residents will be fulfilled. However, this remains a one-of-a-kind neighborhood south of I-20 and a great alternative to the stunning but prohibitively expensive homes in Morningside, Virginia Highland and the handful of other established intown neighborhoods. Being so close to everything available in Atlanta has spoiled us for going to festivals (Inman Park, Dogwood, Summerfest, Shade), the drive in and so much good food + drink in walking distance (you hear me $2 PBR at ten places I can walk to). The EAV and Grant Park are both short walks and great neighborhoods in and of themselves. The Zoo and Turner field are less than 3 miles away as are dozens of the best restaurants in Atlanta. The beltline trailhead is just across I-20 so you can walk off all the beer and carbs. Definitely kid friendly, we've seen at least six newborns arrive since we moved here. The little ones have a playground, a music class and no shortage of friends to grow up with. We will be adding our own in February 2012 so we're planning on being in Glenwood Park for the foreseeable future.
