In search of a new place to get my daily 10,000 steps, I came across Glenlake Park. What an incredible experience. This park is connected to a beautiful cemetery with such interesting history and views. It is so calming walking the paved paths amongst the burial sites and seeing the love and adoration of the families caring for their ancestors' resting places over the years. This park also has a tennis court, a public pool, a basketball court, a small baseball field, a general field, a pond, and a playground. It is clean and quiet, and those visiting the park are incredibly friendly. I tend to rate parks based on their visitors, and most of my "good evenings" were met with a very pleasant response unlike some of the more busy parks in ATL. There were families riding their bikes together, couples strolling amongst the graveyard, an older gentleman fishing in the pond, young men competing on the basketball court, people respectfully walking their dogs, a yoga session happening in the field and much more. This park is a catch-all for any age and experience. I'm sure I'm missing some of the amenities -- it has a lot to offer. Shout out to Decatur for maintaining this little gem. I absolutely love this park! One of the best aspects of living in downtown Decatur is the easy access to this beautiful space. It features a large field perfect for sports and recreation, a well-maintained dog park, and a basketball court that's always in great condition. The playground is ideal for little ones, and there's a lovely pavilion available for small outdoor events. It's such a pristine and inviting place to spend time! read more

This was a cute little park between a couple of neighborhoods. By no means is it expansive, but there was a small paved trail (maybe a mile around in total?) and a couple different ball fields. There's an unpaved path that leads to the cemetery adjacent to the park, and a cute playground area. The playground is currently closed for COVID-19 precations, but there are other areas to sit with friends. read more

How did I miss this part for the past 5 years? Maybe b/c you cannot see it from the road. Anyways, Parking does kind of suck, and you most likely will have to park on Church St and walk past the pool and tennis courts. I love all of the shade and how big the playground is. It has a lot of weird playthings for the kids to play on and use their imagination. There is also a large pavilion there. The only thing that I was not fond of was how close this is to a creek. It does make me nervous. Overall, the kids had a blast and I was happy that there was some shade from the summer heat. read more

While in the area, just flipping through my gps, I noticed the green spot on my map and thought "what's that?" Drove on over and look at that! It's a hidden in plain site park!! Before I say anything else, know this: IF you ignore the speed bumps at this park and have a low sitting car, you will F your car up. Back to the review Glen Lake is a small little city park that is surrounded by residential properties on three sides and the Decatur cemetery on the remaining side. There are paved trails and small bridges/boardwalks that are lined with light posts, and a few feeder trails that lead to their respective residential property. Benches can be found along those trails, and saying there's a mile of trail would be generous, but that's okay for a city park! Also at Glen Lake park is a nice basketball court, a large tennis court with at least 5 courts, a children's play area, and a softball/soccer field towards the rear. The parking lots are both small, and can't really handle a large volume of cars, but that's okay, since there doesn't seem to be that much volume here...maybe because many don't know about it? There's very little litter about, and the park upkeep is really clean. Pet friendly, kid friendly. Sick of sitting on the couch with nothing to do friendly. Really, there is a lot to like about this park, and if you live close, you really should be coming here often! If you're in the area and want to get a quick walk in, stop on in! read more

Rather than dealing with the obnoxious hassle of going to piedmont park, we decided to look around at parks closer to us and I'm glad we picked this one. We went on a weekday and found some parking. This is a very nice, family oriented, all around recreational park. There's two port-a-potties by the parking lot, a pool (closed right now, early may) some tennis courts, a basketball court, some pavillions, a little bridge over a creek, a wide open field and a nice playground that big kids and little toddlers can play in. There's baby swings and regular ones (no special harness swings), a little rock wall, and plenty of interesting things for the kids to climb on, spin on, and slide. And, a toddler favorite, a big ole pretend vehicle to climb into and 'drive'. There's lots of friendly people who live in the adjacent neighborhood that visit regularly. My son made some friends and we also got to run around in the big field without bothering the tai chi group or the little soccer kids. Its pretty large. There's also a nice trail around the park on which people were running with dogs and strollers and kids. This is a great park to take candid pics of your kids and family without bothering people, a good place to relax and read (there's a pavillion far away from all the action), people watching, run that energy out of your kids and dogs, swimming, tennis lessons...all in a very relaxed, friendly environment. read more

OMG!!! The street leading to the park was one way in and one way out. It was a very bumpy gravel road. We drive a Lexus which is known for comfort but the road was sooo rugged that we felt like we were riding in a stagecoach! After getting to the very small parking lot, the park was cute but not what I expected. It was more like a community escape playground for toddlers. Don't waste your time, effort or energy going to this pseudo-park. You will be disappointed. read more

This is a local Decatur park, and it's beautiful. The playground is fun for the kids. There's a basketball court and tennis court (some costs associated for tennis court usage). There's a big pavilion with tables where you can have a meal, or reserve for parties. There's some paved walking trails and right next to Decatur Cemetery where there's more walking/running trails available. Oh, and there's a pool too! (only open May-September, and costs money to use). I've brought the kids several times here for the playground and they love it. There's a small yellow school bus that is a big hit with my littles. Will be coming back regularly again and again :) read more

Such a wonderful park. The cemetery is literally gorgeous and tree lined. It is the perfect place to walk, reflect, and think about life.I love walking through with my boys. There's so much water at the park. The playground is fairly nice. There is a basketball court, wide open field, room for soccer, picnics, barbecues, and a dog park. There are wonderful trails.
