But honestly, the "sketchy" side just had a few people milling about that looked as if they may be unhoused. If you've ever been to Portland, you would not think this looked horrible at all. Overall, it was nice to walk through and sit for a bit.

Well, I finally figured out the secret: GET THERE EARLY! I arrived early for the Vegan Festival, and there was plenty of street parking. There's also parking near the zoo if you don't mind walking over to the festivities. Now that I know the layout and what to expect, I'll definitely be more prepared the next time I come. And I have to say, Grant Park is beautiful! I can see myself coming back even when there isn't an event happening. The Vegan Festival itself was a lot of fun. We checked out different vegan vendors, made bracelets, picked up some hair products, and of course, I had to get some food. I grabbed a vegan platter and a delicious lemonade, and my daughter decided to go her own route and got fish and shrimp. She said it was delicious! There were also some non-vegan food options at the festival. I personally didn't have an issue with it, although I know some people definitely did. One vegan vendor even said, "I'll give you $100 if you eat 10 chicken wings." And I'm like... WHAT?! It was a hot day. There weren't a ton of places to sit, so I would recommend bringing your own folding chair or something comfortable to sit on. The pool was open, the splash pad was open, and the courts were being used, so there was plenty going on beyond the festival. Overall, I had a great time. I enjoyed discovering Grant Park, meeting vendors, doing some crafts, eating good food, and just enjoying the day. I'll definitely be back to the park.

I came across a site that said Inman Park was one of the top 5 places to go for trick-or-treating because of the Victorian homes. We were not disappointed. We went to Inman Park and walked all around the surrounding streets and loved how the owners got into decorating and provided a fun and safe environment for children. My nephew had such a good time and he was so cute. The house were absolutely beautiful and I wish I could have seen the inside of some of them that appeared to have been remodeled. If you are in the area and need a place to go for halloween and have younger kids I would recommend going to Inman Park. There are several bars that are not far from the neighborhood however, you could not see or hear the people so it did not bother us one bit.

The main downside is that I do not believe there are restrooms. You can potentially use the rec center restroom, if it's open, but it closes at 5pm. Also, like any park, be extra careful there at night.

I had the pleasure of walking along a short stretch of it close to Ponce City Market and appreciated the integration of this accessible public space for the community. Aside from the restaurants and retailers directly adjacent to many sections of this path, there are numerous sections dedicated to mural and street art by local artists. There are also tour, fitness and other seasonal activities organized through the Beltline organization, you can sign up on their website (account creation needed).

The gate off Clifton Road is blocked for cars, so we parked at Hahn Park off Houston Mill and walked in. It has the added advantage that you walk by the ruins of the actual mill and by the suspension pedestrian bridge over South Peachtree Creek. Lullwater itself is beautiful. Very friendly fellow hikers. We made one circuit around the lake and headed back to where we started. Technically you are supposed to have an Emory University if card to hike, but apparently no one has ever been stopped by Emory security. And be careful on the trail from Houston Mill to Lullwater: there's loads of poison ivy on both sides of the trail. Late at night while you're sleeping poison ivy comes a creeping all around. Take a snack and water. Lullwater has no facilities. But it is super well maintained by Emory.

In all of this madness, many people, like myself, love the idea of getting away for a while and simply enjoying good ol' mother nature. However, even the infamous parks of Atlanta are overcrowded, making it nearly impossible to take a peaceful stroll without dodging lane violators or rest in a hammock without overhearing someone's conversation about how much they drank last night. Luckily, there are gems like Tanyard Creek Park. Tanyard Creek Park is a small park that is tucked away in the jungle of Collier Hills, gently cradled by many a mansion. In 2010, the BeltLine developed its Northside Trail, which just so happens to run through scenic Tanyard Creek Park just south of Collier Road and another park just north of Collier Road. What you get as a result is a nearly 1 mile long paved path that is well maintained and hardly traversed. I swear, I have never seen this park anywhere near as busy as Piedmont or Candler Park, among a few others. It's like you have this whole sanctuary-like park and path to yourself. To access the park via car, there's an entrance off Collier Road, directly across from where Overbrook Drive meets Collier. You will probably (i.e. most likely) miss the entrance because it's around a rather tight bend in the road and the parking lot is on a steep incline, so make sure that when you do find it, go in there slowly! When you walk into the park, it's almost like you're not even in Atlanta anymore. It is unbelievably quiet and beautiful. On the Tanyard Creek Park side, you get a rather straight trail with a playground, perfect areas to hang your hammock or read a book, a very large field where people often take their dogs out to play, a really cool railroad bridge you walk under, another playground, and a path that ends at some town homes. On the other side, you get a winding trail, some cool street art (can I call it that?), more nature, and the trail ends along the edge of a golf course and some town homes. I would highly suggest that people make their way here if they're in need of a brief get away from their lives...or from traffic. That works too. But I'm truly hesitant to write this review because I fear more people will learn about this island of peace and serenity in this bustling city. Also, that creek is really gross, stay away from it!

So decided to walk around read about the history of the park and area. Tanyard Creek sits along the belt line with a beautiful stream with turtles sunbathing on down tree limbs. The park has a nice size playground for the kiddos and plenty of space for the dogs to run and play without being in the way of pedestrians trying to walk or run along the beltline. This is pretty much a neighborhood park. It's quiet and very clean. I will be back.
