    Dog park rules

This was my dogs first dog park visit - but I asked around and work on the park is that this is where it's at I was worried about smelling urine and dog waste, but the main running area is covered in bark and smells like fresh mulch. At the entry, there is a receptacle for dog waste and it dispenses the free small black bags. There is a hose at the entry to wash off the dog, they all tend to get overstimulated in the park and drool is prevalent. There is a small plastic kiddie pool that you can fill to keep your dog cool. Lots of big dogs here, some got aggressive, but overall it's a very playful park for all sizes. There are several benches and picnic tables so there is space to sit alone but there are friendly people all around to chat with also.

Absolutely love this dog park! It's huge. They have a wooden area with a trail for a more shaded walk. A dog pool (plastic one) that's shaped like a dog bone. A hose to wash your dog(s) off. The park is clean and well maintained. The folks we met there were friendly and encouraging as my dog had never been to a dog park and is a rescue dog so he was really nervous. An All around great place:) lots of tail wags and smiles on all the dogs faces.

First dog park in Atlanta I've truly enjoyed taking my dog too! Plenty of trees, all fenced in, and a kind crowd. Evenings are the best time!

    Our favorite dog park!!!

-Well taken care of -Friendly people -Friendly Pups -Located in a great area filled with shopping centers and nice sidewalks for a run for yourself -Usually packed when I go which makes it fun to socialize and meet new dogs - The wooded area has cute signs saying "Hound Highway" and other creative sayings -I moved to Sandy Springs so I don't get to make it there often anymore but we sure loved it! -HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Waiting for our daily trip to oakhurst. Major and my lab King

Best dog park in Atlanta. Not too fancy but exactly what u would want at a dog park. Currently we are having concerns with zoning in the area so there are petitions out to save our park. Please help us save oakhurst.

My baby ran him self tired with all the hills and tons of space!

Omg love this place! I tried going to piedmont first and trying to find parking was a nightmare! There was a nice little place to park right by this place that's FREE! Not even a half mile away. Lots of room to run and a water fountain.

Great dog park with some small trails and big open space. Walkable to little town of restaurants and shops.

The wooded area offers much-needed shade, and the mud holes allow for the dogs to stay a little cool and dirty.

When I went the seating was pretty bad and sparce, which isn't rare for public dog parks, and it was hard for me to find the second section of the park at first. I usually prefer a dog park that's a size where you can both sit and keep an eye on your dog the whole time, and is large enough for dogs to play in and have a lot of space, and there are better parks with better layouts for both of these in Atlanta. I'd recommend Oakhurst. Why the bad review though? I've gone to dog parks frequently for 18 months, and Adair is the only dog park where someone STOLE MY DOG'S LEASH. WHO DOES THAT. Now that I've spent more time in dog parks, I find the fact that that happened even stranger than it was at first, because I've never even heard of it happening somewhere else. And because of the street only parking, I had to carry my 30lb dog back to my car. Completely insane.

They also do not separate dogs by weight/size, so if you are uncomfortable bringing your small dog here then maybe this is not the place for you because dogs have all sizes play together. The locations are always huge and well kept. But with so much space.. There should be way more staff!! Also, with all of that space, I really think they should consider a big dog/ small dog park section. Maybe with separate entrances and a partition instead of gate as to not stimulate gate aggression. Or a space for big dogs with hunting/prey drive. There were people who had no control of their dog there... and that was very annoying and uncomfortable. The bar, and activities sounded like a fun idea in theory but, it's just dangerous and idk if it's worth the danger of such a large severely understaffed park. Drinks were good, no food allowed.

A few of us started coming here when our usual dog park became ill-maintained. We love the fact that there is grass, a functional water fountain (although it is in a concrete area between the two entrance gates... could they not have put it inside the park?), benches, and it seems to be well-maintained. Downsides are the extreme noise from I-285, suspicious looking people wandering around the park (If you come here with a group or other dogs, you will be fine), and there's soooooo many mosquitos in the summer because of the nearby pond. Also, because it is not visited often, and also quite large, there's a lot of dog poop that never got picked up either due to irresponsibility of the owner or simply not being able to find it!

It is clean and quiet, and those visiting the park are incredibly friendly. I tend to rate parks based on their visitors, and most of my "good evenings" were met with a very pleasant response unlike some of the more busy parks in ATL.
