After 3 attempts, was finally able to reach someone by phone to take a phone order. While she took our order, she asked, "would you like bell peppers and onions with your country potatoes". My coworker said sure! We arrived at Mil's and the lady at the cashier gave us order but explained she can't ring us up bc she wasn't our server. The server came over and gave us the check. I was shocked that there was an upcharge on the order. She said, "it's a $1 extra for bell peppers and onions on your country potatoes and it's $0.50 extra for to go". Okay, fine. Our bad, we didn't ask, but it would have been nice if she had mentioned it over the phone or if they advertised that on their menu or website. Then the lady at the cashier took the check and swiped my card. She asked for a signature and lo and behold, another hidden fee. I asked her why am I being charged another nominal fee? She points to a tiny sign taped to the counter "2% surcharge for credit card transactions". SMH. I told the lady at the cashier and the server that I will never go back again. They could have told me it's 2% extra for credit card transactions and I would have whipped out some cash. Well forget your tip! Worst yet, the chicken fried steak was disappointing. The steak was dry and chewy. The gravy lacked taste. The hash browns were hard. How do you mess up my favorite dish? People were milling around the door. Uh oh, wondered if there was a long wait. After only 5 minutes, we were led to a table for 2. It was s great spot in the back corner, so we had a little privacy. I stuck with water on this morning and ordered the corn beef hash and a side of bacon. All was salty, a bit greasy, goodness, as expected from an old school diner. It's a classic strip mall diner. Long time servers were nice. The owner couple were there, I think. They were funny to watch. Lots of regulars. Service was good and the food came out quick. I had the Joe's omelets. 4 eggs, mushrooms, onions, spinach, and ground beef. It was big and cooked well but woefully underseasoned. Joe's anything (scramble, omlete, whatever) usually has seasoned ground beef. This was just plain unseasoned beef. Adding salt, pepper, and tabasco helped but it could have used a little something else. W got the cheeseburger. When asked how she wanted it she ordered medium rare. It came out well done. No pink at all. My pet peeve is asking how I want something and not doing it. If you're not going to cook burgers to customers preference, fine. But don't ask. W is more forgiving than me. She said it was OK. Same lack of seasoning. Fries were good. Little got the waffle and added strawberries. The servers made the waffle out front which was interesting. The strawberries were fresh. Not those gross syrupy ones. Lots of whipped cream. Little ate the whole thing. All in all, okay food. The fact that we were so hungry we would have eaten cardboard probably helped out their rating. Such a charming diner, and the portion sizes are huge. I always get the Popeyes Omelette, with a pancake and potato's, and it lasts me 2-3 meals. The omelette is fluffy and the spinach, mushrooms, and onions give it such a good flavor and texture. The pancake is HUGE, so incredibly rich and fluffy with a big pad of salted butter. I've been here a handful of times and I think it's safe to say that the quality of their food is consistent. Whenever its super packed, we like to sit at the bar. It's very entertaining to watch the employees interact in front of you while you eat your meal. They also aren't afraid to strike up a conversation with you, the servers are really accommodating and are more than happy to help out. I ordered the eggs benny - the sauce they use is superb! I guess something that they can fix is to slice the ham a little thinner, but that's very minor. Of course, the benedict was awesome. The egg was poached just right and the sauce again was heavenly. My gf had the steak, I don't normally eat a steak in the morning but she gave me a little portion of it and it was surprisingly delicious. Pretty standard dinner. I had the chicken and waffles combo and it was delicious. They also have fresh squeezed orange juice which I like. There was a line at the door but we didn't have to wait for more than 10 minutes for a table. The waiter was quick and courteous. We were pretty much done eating in less than an hour. Was surprised that this place was in Milpitas and it was pretty decent! We waited a good 20 minutes or so for a table of 3 around 11 AM on Saturday. The place was busy and bustling with people, workers squeezing through, definite old school diner feel. The menu is very down to the basics, nothing fancy with 10 different types of eggs benedict. Just the classic. The menus are also pretty fair compared to other brunch spots. It took us awhile to order as no one came to ask us if we were ready. All 3 of us decided on the country fried steak, gravy on the side for me. Our food came out pretty quickly. Buttered toasts, eggs, hash brown and steak for all of us that took up our whole table. My friend had asked for his hash browns extra crispy and they brought him a whole plate of it! He did find a hair in his gravy immediately and he got a new one soon after. I really enjoyed the hash browns and the egg whites were done perfectly, not watery at all. The country fried steak was cooked really well, but I will say that even with the gravy, everything was kind of bland! I eat on the blander side, but even I needed to add some salt to this dish! I am so pissed off. I came here after church to get breakfast by myself. I wanted to be in an air conditioned restaurant in a booth. I didn't want to sit at the counter. When I arrived the host told me that he couldn't see it any single person in a booth at this time but there's room at the counter. I told him I didn't want to counter. So he told me to put my name on the wait list and I thought it was putting my name on the wait list for a booth. The Country fried steak, this was thick, juicy and served with the right amount of 3 eggs and hash browns; DELICIOUS Also on todays order was their Crab-cakes Benedict and it was loved on by all of us. Mil's has it all for breakfast. Servers are seasoned and have been working in their profession for years. Customer service is no nonsense but still welcoming. Food is exactly what you'd expect: hot, fresh, and perfectly diner-y. Big pancakes, freshly scrambled eggs, thick sliced salty bacon, crusty corned beef hash, crisp hashbrowns. All of which were perfect. Bonus, Santa Clara County is allowing indoor dining, so this was our first venture into indoor dining since November, and it was everything we wanted it to be. read more

Ordered a fajita omelette and a stack of pancakes + coffee. Pretty standard, I think the eggs were a bit overcooked and I probably should have opted for some cheese because the aside from the meat chunks (faijta omelette had steak, bell peppers, onions) the omelette lacked flavor. Came with hash browns (yum!) and a side of toast. You can sub out your toast for pancakes (would recommend instead of getting a side stack of pancakes because there is a LOT of food) Coffee was kept full most of the time, very attentive. My boyfriend and I came here yesterday around 1pm and that is the best time to come in my opinion. There was no wait and we were seated immediately. We ordered very quickly after being seated. I ordered Mil's #3 (eggs, sausage or bacon, and two buttermilk pancakes) for $8.95 and my boyfriend ordered the country fried steak for $11.95. The pancakes were really good- probably the best part of my meal. The eggs and sausage tasted fine- no complaints there. They defiantly do not skimp on portion sizes here. I couldn't even finish my meal. I had to take one of the pancakes home for later. My boyfriend devoured his country fried steak. We both had big food comas afterwards. The service was excellent. We probably waited only 10 minutes or less for our food to come out since we came at a non-busy time. However, I can see this place getting really busy with more a wait during the early morning breakfast hour. While you are eating, you can see all the awards Mil's has won. It didn't take long for the food to be brought for a Sunday breakfast, and I enjoyed the kindness of the staff. I ordered the All Meat Omelette. There was definitely more meat than egg and was more filling than I thought. Hot chocolate, toast, fries, hash browns, sausages, and regular eggs are also very good. The wait was about 30 minutes on a Sunday morning, which is average wait time. I didn't like the cheese on top but overall the omelette was yummy. Had perfect mediterranean flavor and sausage was cooked and very well seasoned. I think the star of the plate was the hash. It was so crispyyy !! Just the way I like it. Make your own Omelette 5/5 My husband made his own omelette. He selected beef as his protein and it was super juicy and just yum !!! He really enjoyed it !! It also came with a side of hash and wheat toast. French Toast with Bacon 3/5 Only reason I am not giving this entree a 5 star is because it was a huge plate for a kid's meal.
