The roast beef was all right but my thing I'm bitching about is a couple of us left the Sox game and went there after 12 am and we were feeling good..lol.. the place was empty and there were 2 state cops out front. Aside from the long wait times and lack of tables, this establishment is a really convenient staple in the Malden-Everett area for people who are hungry late at night and don't want McDonald's. (For the price of a McDonald's meal you can get dinner at Mike's) They serve Cherry and Lemon Kool-Aid and the fried clams, burgers and fries are to die for. (Think "Lobster Hut" style) What really puts it over the top for me is the fact they are open until 2AM. I don't care what anyone says, Mike's is an absolute asset to the area! read more

Ok, So there is part of me that wishes this review could be 100% anonymous. Because Mike's is so great I must review. I have to call it like it is- fattening, greasy, goodness! Full disclosure....I'm a vegetarian....BUT I lived across the street and came here about once a week with the meat eating BF and other non-veggies who loved this place just as much. It is what it is! Food is good, hours are great open very late and staff is super friendly! Good late night joint for a bite for a roast beef sandwich and fries. Some people love their fried clams but never got one to try. I have to say Royal Roast Beef in Methuen better but this isn't bad. Hello, I don't know who the blonde women with the accent is who worked tonight but she's going to single handedly destroy the late night business. I called at 1:30 while my boyfriend was driving there after plowing all day and night. First she wouldn't answer the phone, when she finally did, she told me that she has to be up at 6 with her son so she can't take my order, I explained that you are open until two and that he would be there by 1:45 the latest. When she finally took the order after putting the phone down and complaining about me to other people loud enough for me to hear, she finally took the order. He was halfway there and arrived at 1:40. The door was locked and she never put the order in. She would not come to the door even after she KNEW he was coming and took the order. Why take the order then lock the door, make a customer drive all the way there and then not put the order in or let him pick up the food? She continued to yell at him through the door that it was too late (1:45). When I called she answered after calling EIGHT TIMES and was so rude and kept saying "listen lady I told you ten minutes, I have to be up with my son at 6!" Well you're still there, he's been there since 1:40, and there isn't even a bag with his food!!! We have been coming for over 20 years and also have been in the restaurant business since 1975. If she is concerned about her morning, maybe she shouldn't take a job that's opened until two, I don't believe her personal life should interfere with loyal customers and business because she's tired "and still has to mop the floor." Had she just put the order in he would have been in and out by 1:45. There were other customers in the lot who saw it all happen, all the lights on including the open sign. Since I was a kid, Mike's was a staple for late night food, you could always count on Mike's. Not putting any blame on the business but this woman has no right being in customer service, or closing a restaurant that people count on for being open. She told me 1:30 is the latest because she has to be up at 6? That is completely insane and unacceptable. Now it's 2:15, he's been in your parking lot since 1:45 and still has nothing to eat, she sure does know how to ruin something good! read more

I happen to work right near mike's roast beef so i've had a chance to form an opinion over many month and many meals. I have to say they have quite possibly some of the most rude people working behind a counter across ANY industry. Just my last visit alone i walked in mike's and i stood at an empty counter for 3 minutes. The cooks where all watchin tv and they didnt even bother to acknowledge me. Those guys in the kitchen are always in a bad mood, they seem ro be pretty miserable doing their jobs. I honestly think mike's roast beef is one of those places that have a reputation because they serve good food but it has nothing to do with their service. I think the owner is probably blind to all feedback and criticism for that matter, after all we are talking about a place that refuses to accept major credit cards, who does that in this day and age? read more

Been coming here for years and never disappoints. Good fast food and staff is great here. There are other roast beefs restaurants near me but none are as good as Mikes. I drive 20 mins to go here and get their food. This is also my "home food" where when I come back from a trip, I stop by and lick something up. read more

Okay, so this place is nothing fancy BUT it is good! I used to live in Chelsea and any chance I had to come here I was totally up for it. In the past, there have been some grouchy ppl running the counter but I looked past it, ordered my food and went on my merry way. This is not a 5 star dining place. Order what you want and go or eat at one of the few seats they have there. I take ours to go. Roast beef, xtra sauce and cheese and waffle fries with the cheese sauce (A+) always..my husband always gets the burger. No complaints. Cheaper than Kelly's and better in my opinion. Last time I ordered a roast beef there it was extremely fatty and tough and their clam chowder was watered down. So disappointing! I told my husband we need to come to Mike's at least once a month. Being born and raised in Everett,I've always accepted this place for what it is.It originally was located in a smaller location next door,but when Mike's Doughnuts moved,Mike's R.B.moved in.I liked the original location better.It was cramped,especially after last call on Friday and Saturday nights,but it had character.The food here is to be judged on two levels.If you are tanked at 1:30 a.m. on a Sat night,I give it 4 stars.However,if you are dead sober lunchtime,it's probably a 2 and half to 3 stars place.It's not Billy's in Wakefield or The Liberty Bell or any Kelly's,but it's not bad.Always an interesting take late on the weekends. read more

Worst meal EVER. I was there last night when I walked in there was only two people in line. I ordered a junior roast beef, mozzarella stix, seasoned fries. The roast beef was cold slimy took one bite threw is away before I got sick. Then the mozz. Stix were still cold inside not got at all. The fries we soft not a nice crunchy texture like they usually are. The place has gone downhill fast. Even though they are make improvements to the eye. I have been a Mike's customer from when I was a young boy, till now. They have BY FAR one of the best roast beef sandwiches you could possibly eat. I get it 3 way (sauce, mayo, cheese) and it is just too damn good. Makes my mouth water. The BBQ sauce they use is unbelievable. I wish i knew where they got it from cuz i'd put that on tons of different things when i cook! They also have some damn good clam strips too. The waffle fries are also really good. I mean, i have had a lot of their different stuff and all have been good but these are the best things they have in my opinion. It isnt a sit-down place. You grab your food and go. they have always been that way. they have like bar shelves you can place your food on to eat but that's about it. they are open late so after a long night out this is my and my friends' stop! Mike's is the best roast beef place I've ever been to. Blows Kelly's out of the water. Large Beef, cheese and sauce and a philly roll and you will never lose.
