On my way deep into Arkansas I ran across this jewel. The prime rid, medium rare. Potato. Salad. Bread. Oh, and ah jus. Simply delicious. I was so surprised that it was as good as it is. I have had great prime rib. This one was cut with your fork tender and juicy and tasty. Wow. The potato was ok. Maybe just a little over done and with liquid butter. Not my favorite but the steak made up the difference. Salad was ok. Lots of dressing and cheese, but the lettuce was just ok. I ate at the bar area, FCFS. Server was young bar tender. The food is generally good and the drink selection is as well. However, they constantly fail to take reservations correctly, particularly for large parties. Everything I ate (rice and beans, pecan-crusted grouper, Parmesan spinach) was rich; but a lighter touch may stop Mike's from being the treat that it is for some. Best steak house in Conway. Everything was fantastic. We started with the Bam Bam shrimp and the salmon was to die for! The signature drink called a "Toad" is a nice treat. My mom, dog, and I were on a summer roadtrip and decided to stop somewhere for a nice meal after days of filling ourselves with fast food. We decided on Mike's Place solely based on proximity and availability of outdoor seating. The food and service turned out to be wonderful! Service was A+. When we arrived at the restaurant entrance, we saw no outdoor seating, so I went inside to talk to the host. They were extremely friendly and informed me that their outdoor seating was out back. We quickly walked through the restaurant to reach the outdoor area. Everyone was so kind and accommodating. A few of the servers stopped by to say hello to my dog and bring her water. Other than the weather (90+ degrees), it was perfect! Food was delicious! We ordered an Appetizer Sampler and Mike's Whitefish with a side of Fresh Steamed Veggies. The food came with a complimentary basket of bread rolls. - Appetizer Sampler: You get a choice of 2 different appetizers (there is a set that you can choose from), and we chose the Fried Calamari and Bam Bam Shrimp. The Fried Calamari was pretty standard - I have had better, but I have also had worse. It would have been better if it was a bit crispier and accompanied by a different sauce. On the other hand, Bam Bam Shrimp was delicious! I wouldn't hesitate to order it again! - Mike's Whitefish with Fresh Steamed Veggies: Amazing! You can order it pan seared, grilled, or fried - we chose grilled. The fish was soft and tender, and the sauce was creamy and flavorful. I highly recommend it to all fish-lovers! Overall, my mom, dog, and I had a great experience at Mike's Place thanks to the delicious food and the friendly servers! Mike's Place might be as close as you can get to New Orleans in central Arkansas. Excellent wait staff as we were served by 4-5 different people. I'm doing my best to get back on track and up to date with my experiences. This post finishes our quick trip to Arkansas in December. The occasion was my father's 70th birthday celebration so we let him choose his dinner spot. We spare no expense for birthday dinners in the Rapp family and choose Conway's finest in Mike's Place. It was immediately apparent why Mike's is an institution. The fireplace is burning by the door, children are more than welcome and the food is high quality, local comfort food. We started with southern classics - fried green tomatoes and fried okra. I might prefer my vegetables non-fried, but you can't deny the tastiness of good southern flavors, fried or otherwise. I was in the mood for fish, and Mike's has a nice selection. I ordered the server recommended honey glazed salmon, with a side of baked beans and salad. The fish was disappointing, not quite as good as advertised and lacking meaningful flavor. The beans were also only ok. Erica had a similar result with her shrimp. Hal's fish pasta was excellent, and from the clean plate across the table, my Dad's steak and potato didn't stand a chance. If our main courses were hit and miss, the desserts were spot on. Dad's chocolate birthday cake was great, and I ordered an unbelievably good bread pudding for the table. We had a very nice meal at Mike's Place in Conway, AR and I would recommend checking it out if you happen to be in the neighborhood. If the main courses were slightly disappointing, we made up for it with great company, wine, and good desserts. read more

In my opinion Mikes is the best restaurant in Conway. You can't go wrong with any of the steaks, and definitely get the shrimp brantley.

Great atmosphere and delicious burger and fried okra. My kids said there should be more Mike's places.

I called ahead to ask about parking because I had a 26' trailer, they said I could park in the employee parking area because it was pretty empty at that time. We were seated quickly, and our server was fantastic. The food was great, my wife got 3 of their different preparations of shrimp and I had a New York Strip. read more

Passing through Conway and found this great spot for lunch on a Sunday. Who knew we would also get to see the world famous Toad Suck Square! Staff were exceptional and we had 3 great lunch specials. Great find. Nice local restaurant located in historic downtown Conway. They have aged steaks, ribs and seafood on the dinner menu. They also have a full bar, which just a few years ago was unheard of in this city located in the Bible Belt. For Conway, this is five stars. Now comparing Mike's to the places I have been to across the country, it is more like 3 1/2 stars. Very solid place to get a good meal in Conway. I got the ribeye for dinner and another person in my party got the scallops. I thought the scallops were pretty small but still tasty. The steak was okay. I ordered it medium rare but it came to the table rare. So, the service was good and the food was solid. Not the best I have had but a great choice for Conway. I wish Mike's Place the best and I will return the next time I am in Conway. read more

I really wanted to give three stars, but Yelp considers three "A-ok." Today, Mike's had a little bit to be desired. My first experience there was almost perfect. That is why I went back, just one week later. The one flaw was that I do not eat dairy, and I think the white rice under the kabob had butter in it. Today my date and I both ordered baby back ribs. The waiter, Zack, came back to the table and said they ran out. So I asked for the kabob again, but told Zack I could not have butter, so could I sub a potato for the rice. He said no, emphatically, that rice is a "garnish". He allowed me to get the kabob without rice and sub a potato for the salad. I told him that I disagreed, rice is not a garnish, it is a starch, like potatoes. He reiterated in a stern voice that it is a garnish. Not wanting to cause a scene on a nice date, I went without the salad. My date said I could order the potato as a side and get the salad if I wanted to, but I was over it. The food was enough, knowing I was having coconut milk ice cream when I got home. It just seemed like a fairly high end restaurant by Arkansas standards would be more accommodating. I used to LOVE this place, but the quality of the food has definitely gone down. I went here on a date night during our first outing since quarantine and wished I had gone elsewhere. Good staff and environment, but not what I remembered. Prices were still the same. I ordered the scallops and green beans. The beans were from a can and the scallops very obviously frozen. However, I can understand a cut back due to coronavirus. Will try again in the future. read more

We were not pleased with the quality or portion of the food. We, the wife and I, both ordered chicken, it was so tough I had to use a steak knife to cut and it was still very difficult to do so. Taste was not up to par, very bland. Not the quality of food you would expect from and establishment like Mikes Place. I know what prices have went up but why has the portion size went down as well. Do one or the other, not both. Young waitress did a good job but couldn't make this experience any better due to the quality of the dish she brought out. Went to a competitor the following evening and got better service at the bar, they were busy and that was the only seating. Food was much better and cheaper. I want to support my local businesses but don't know that I will go back to spend more more for less of a meal that is not as good as a chain restaurant. read more

A good menu with a variety of choices, a nice ambience, and great waitstaff make Mike's a place that I know I can trust for a great meal. Do not come to Mike's with a group! I came to Mike's Place with a group of almost 40 people. When we arrived, we were informed that we could only order from a reduced menu, since we were part of a larger group. The restaurant was open and serving other clients, but they would not let our group order from the normal menu. The food had obviously been prepared ahead of time and kept warm. I don't know if this is standard practice at this restaurant, or if it is just for groups. The "garden salad" was just lettuce with cheese, even though the description had specifically indicated tomatoes. The blackened whitefish was way overseasoned, overcooked, and small. The "fresh steamed veggies" were badly over-cooked and the "smashed potatoes" were dry and bland. As disappointed as I was in the meal, the real shock came at the cash register. According to their normal menu, my lunch should have cost $17. However, since they offered a reduced menu of pre-prepared food, they were offering a special price of $30 per plate, instead, which had not previously been indicated on the single-sheet menus that they had put out. Not only did they mark up my meal 75%, but then they tacked on a 20% automatic gratuity for the mediocre service. They basically doubled the cost of our meals becuase we were with a group. The only positives that I can list are that the ambience was nice and the free dinner rolls were pretty good. I don't know if this is a normal experience at Mike's Place, or not, but I honestly don't plan on coming back to find out. read more

We found Mike's recommended on Yelp and were quite pleased! The facility is large but there was a 45 minute wait (always a good sign). We found two seats at the bar. The server/bartender was fantastic. The people sitting to either side were so friendly too. My wife and I enjoyed a good glass of cab. The arugula blue cheese salad was great. I got the Commodore platter This was plenty of food (the gent next to me said he splits it with his wife but I had no problem). The lobster tail and the crab legs were higher quality than I've had in combo dishes before. My fish was blackened and the Shrimp Brantley is a Cajun butter sauce. My wife had blackened white fish with creole sauce and a Chesapeake Bay Crab Cake with sweet potato fries. We live 3 hours away but can't wait to come back!!! read more

I was so super excited about trying this place after hearing how good their steak was. It's Valentine's Day and I'm alone so I decided I'd rather not sit inside. So instead I would get my order to go. Well that didn't happen. According to the lady that was the hostess I guess, said they were too busy to do my to go order. The food is terrible. Nothing is made in house - it's all frozen/pre-cooked. The only draw is the bar. It was the first restaurant in Conway to serve alcohol and that impressed the people of Conway. If you're not from Conway - skip it and drive to Little Rock. read more
