The food is expensive. I ordered 2 Meat Combo, $25 plus $2.28 tax, total $27.28. It comes with a small piece of bread and 1 side. The portion is only good for 1 person. The payment system suggests tips 15% 18% 20%, total would be around $30 plus for 1 lunch 1 person. So, I left $2 in the tips jar, total roughly almost $30. The lady at the front desk, who was training the new girl seems not happy with my tips. I'm sorry lady, I feel the food is too expensive and I ordered to-go. No one served me. The lady probably was mad, she gave me my food togo without a bag or utensils, I had to get everything myself. The food was ok, not that special that I'd come back again. Mike's Backyard BBQ is located inside of Garlic World just off the 101. I believe they only make the bbq on the weekend. I've passed by Garlic World thousands of times and never knew they had bbq on the weekends until I stumbled upon their pics on Yelp. The tri-tip sandwich is superb. The meat is tender and the toasted bread makes it perfect. I also enjoyed the ribs with Mike's Secret BBQ Sauce. The meat falls right off the bone. I'm not a big fan of sweet beans, but I actually enjoyed the ones that came with the food. They don't have a big menu, but I think it helps them focus on the delicious food they are serving. I ate it all so fast, I forgot to snap a pic. I can't wait to stop in again. read more

If I could give Mike more stars I would the food is PHENOMENAL!! Tri tip is always perfect the beans are a delight and the bread oh you gotta have the bread and dip it in the beans... just saying. Family friendly service and sitting down for lunch next to the smoker has your mouth watering before you even get your first bite. We were in town for a wedding so we had to make a stop to Garlic World, obviously. We decided to try the tri-tip sandwich served up by Mike's inside. Not only are Mike and his family incredibly friendly, (even to us Dodgers fans) they really love what they do and it shows! Mike smokes and grills the meat on-site in his pit out back. The meat was pure perfection - juicy, flavorful, and smoked just right with the smoke rings to prove it. They didn't neglect the bread either. It's a perfectly soft and hearty companion to the meat. I tried Mike's Backyard BBQ for the first time last weekend. I got the chicken plate to go. It came with 3 large pieces of chicken, beans, garlic bread and a pickle. When I opened the box, I found the pickle had a bite taken out of it. Also it was covered in black specs. That was weird and gross. The beans seemed to be from a can. One piece of chicken was underdone, and the other two pieces were overdone. It was edible, but not anything special. The garlic bread wasn't flavorful. There is better BBQ. read more

Mike's Backyard BBQ catered or son's wedding on 10/22/22. The food was outstanding the best ribs we ever had. His tri-tip and chicken were also very good. His wife's homemade potatoe salad was really good! Plenty of food, very classy set up. He brought his big bbq in to the venue early in the day and cooked it for our dinner. I highly recommend him. Always drove by but never stopped. Glad we stopped this time. Ordered the tri tip sandwich and it came with beans, garlic bread and a pickle. The tri tip was tender and the bread was soft. I recommend giving it a try. We ate there on the picnic tables and tried the different bbq sauces he had. Very tasty. read more

I came into Garlic World because I saw the BBQ sign out front. I had the tritip sandwich and it was really good. There was a lot of meat and good sides. They had a good selection of bbq sauces to add. My husband had the ribs and he said they were the best he's ever had. Welp once again here I am!! The flavor once again did not disappoint I had to get 1 of everything again!! 4 tritip sandwiches, 1 chicken and unfortunately 1 rack of ribs... remember early bird gets the worm, I called in at around 1:10pm to put my order in and they had run out of ribs already with only 1 rack left. I was happy at least I got 1 order in, my drive is 2 hours so I was excited to at least get 1. I'm telling you the flavor does not dissipate!! I do have to say that I was a little sad to see that the sandwiches got a bit smaller and not as packed with meat this time around, the prices didn't change which I was surprised about but hey, prices went up everywhere due to COVID and the plates got smaller everywhere. At least here you only got one downfall. Still filled me up at least and again was super happy with the taste. Right inside Garlic World store. You see Mike on the outside by picnic benches and BBQ smoker smelling fantastic. Of course walked into store hungry. Right beyond the cashier, is the ordering counter for a menu of BBQ options. I ordered the Tri-Tip sandwich, complete with tasty bbq dipping sauces & beans. Stopped by Garlic World, and found Mike's Backyard BBQ in the back. Super nice family, great BBQ. We had the sampler platter - chicken, pork ribs, Tri-tip, beans, and garlic bread. Our favorite was the fall-off-the-bone pork ribs and the beans. The perfectly cooked tri-tip (medium rare) was a little tough. Mike came out and talked to us - really nice humble man. Turns out he's a retired cop, and from Napa also, and revealed that he misses Maple Bars from Butter Cream bakery. If anyone is headed there from Napa, please bring Mike a maple bar from Butter Cream bakery! If you're passing by, make sure to stop by! read more

I wanted BBQ and usually only eat what my husband grills but I looked on Yelp and came across Mike's backyard BBQ ,we drove from San Martin and I was skeptical because I usually get a bad stomach ache from other bbqs ,BUT to my surprise it was awesome I had pulled pork and my husband had TRI Tip ,I always carry Alka seltzer just in case but.....I didn't need it the sandwich was awesome and tasty, I will be going back thank you for our tasty sandwiches. read more
