I had high hopes for Mike's but my meal was just okay. The service did make up for the lack of taste. I ordered the bbq cheddar burger and an order of the Ozzie rolls. The burger was messy and the bun was just way too soft. The Ozzie rolls are always a must. I would come back but would definitely try something else.
Started off with the Tex-Mex Eggrolls which were crispy and stuffed with chicken, beans, corn and cheese. Paired with the avocado dipping sauce, this appetizer is a great choice to share with the table. For my entree I got the Louisiana Pasta with chicken and shrimp. Super rich, creamy, and a nice hint of Cajun flavor that doesn't overpower the dish.
Another solid restaurant in the Great American Restaurant chain. Mike's is located in Springfield. They have their own parking lot but it gets consistently full. You can park at the shipping strip across the street. Menu at Mike's hasn't changed for quite some time but entrees are solid. Daily specials does offer different kinds of fish. Steak comes with salad and are tasty. GAR restaurants prepare the best salmon I ever had. Cooked to your liking and never fishy. There's a nominal charge of $1 for the bread basket but this is well worth it as their Ozzie rolls are amazing.
Still amazing service and food. I have gone back a few times for whenever I come out from the West Coast for work. The drunken ribeye is my go to now! That marinade of pale ale is so good. I just wish it had more mushrooms.
The food was delicious and the service was perfect. I had a crispy chicken salad and the hubby had pulled pork sandwich. Be sure to order the rolls; they were so good! It was a rainy Saturday afternoon and the restaurant was packed, but we were able to park in the lot next-door (the bank was closed).
Yummmmm! You absolutely must start with their little sweet biscuits, I ate those in record time. The crab cakes were good size, flavorful, and FULL of crab! The steak was also flavorful and good size. My boyfriends favorite thing here is the chocolate waffle!
My s/o and I are big fans of Mike's American for their consistency in their food and service. We probably come here at least once a month. The actual restaurant feels massive but decorated in a rustic way. I want to give a huge shout out to Alicia. She is such a knowledgeable, approachable, and receptive server. She was on top of refilling drinks, making sure we weren't left alone for too long when we were waiting for our food to come, and just had an overall amazing energy. While we really enjoy all of the servers we've had at Mikes, Alicia takes the cake. If there's any way to provide her with recognition, I would highly vouch for it. She could sell me anything on that menu with that kind of personality! Thank you, Alicia! I'm going to make sure we try to get seated at your table again.
I visited Mike's American after coming across it on Resy and was able to get a same-day reservation for two on Easter Sunday. As expected, it was busy, but the restaurant does have a fairly large parking lot which made arrival easier. The setup was interesting. After checking in downstairs, I was given a ticket and directed upstairs for seating. I took the elevator, which offered a clear view of the kitchen below as it ascended... definitely a unique touch. Upstairs, another host staff guided us to our table. The space had a lively feel, roaring with chatter from customers, and I could see parts of the kitchen where food was being prepared over an open flame, which added to the overall atmosphere. For the food, we started with the calamari. It was cooked well and had a nice texture, especially paired with the crispy onion shoestrings, which added a good crunch and flavor. It was served over a lobster sauce, although the lobster flavor wasn't very noticeable. The main issue was the salt level... it was quite heavy! I did enjoy it overall, but I would only recommend it to someone who doesn't have to watch their sodium intake. For entrées, I ordered the steak cooked medium with broccolini. The dish automatically comes with mashed potatoes, and while I was able to substitute the salad for broccolini, there didn't seem to be flexibility with the potatoes. After tasting the mashed potatoes, I wish I was offered to substitute it as it tasted like the brown box we grew up on where you just added water. When the food came out, the steak was closer to medium-well or well done rather than medium, and both the mashed potatoes and broccolini were a bit cold. I chose not to send it back since we waited but it did affect the overall experience. My guest ordered the ribs with fries and coleslaw. The ribs were well-prepared--tender with a clean pull off the bone--and were probably the highlight of the meal. The fries were also very good and came out hot. The coleslaw wasn't as well received, described as having too many of the tougher parts of the cabbage. Overall, the experience had some positives, especially in terms of atmosphere and certain menu items like the ribs and fries. While I did enjoy parts of the meal, it's not somewhere I would personally return to, but it may be worth trying once to form your own opinion.
There's a long wait but there's a reason why there's a long wait! The food is great and the service is also great. Let's start with a good , the food! The options are definitely somewhat the same but in different options if that makes any sense. They're still a plethora of different styles of food options to choose from! You can't go wrong with the starter bread as well, give Texas roadhouse a run for its money! The medium , it's fairly expensive, but I think it's pretty good for all that you get! The bad, parking! Parking is very hard to get you're gonna have to do some creative thinking when it comes to parking and a little bit of jaywalking haha! Overall, the space is spacious. You don't feel like you're on top of each other even though there's many people there.
Love the Great American restaurant group! Mike's is always a banger. Absolutely packed house. Don't mind waiting because it's worth it! Always get the ribeye and keep the Ozzie rolls coming! Fantastic service, delicious food, local brews. Something for everyone.
We were immediately seated - no reservation on a Monday night around 7pm. Food was on point and service was excellent. It was my birthday and I enjoyed every moment of it.
I came here with some friends for lunch during December 2025 on a weekday. I did not realize how popular they would be. There is plenty of seating within the restaurant (two levels with an elevator and centrally located open staircase), but not enough parking when they are bus. Like some of the other reviews, I definitely recommend parking at the shopping center across the street unless you are feeling lucky. However, there are no immediate crosswalks...so be prepared to run/powerwalk with caution. During the holidays, the place was wonderfully decorated. It can be a bit crowded for really large parties. I definitely recommend making a reservation. The staff was professional and were accommodating for us - they provided extra plates/bowls for some of us who wanted to split an entree. The also took a great photo for us. Service was great overall; however, the timing was a bit off. I would've expected them to serve everyone's entrees at the same time. However, some members of the party had to wait a little longer for their food to be served. Somewhat understandable given how busy they were, but it still fell a little below my expectation. While here, we had to start off with the Ozzie Rolls. The bread and accompanying honey butter was so yummy. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. My friend and I ended up ordering the Lobster Bisque Soup and either the Drunken Rib Eye or the 5 Star Reserve Rib Eye Steak to share (photos showed only half of the serving). The Lobster Bisque Soup was yummy and hit the spot (especially with how cold it was). There's the saying that the meat speaks for itself...the Rib Eye Steak spoke to me. It just melted in my mouth and I savored every bite. In addition with the portion size, this dish was definitely worth the price. I definitely recommend coming here for a meal. It also seems great for date nights.
I love this place!!! I've been here no less than 10x and have never had a negative experience. I'm writing about their consistency overall and my latest meal. A place like Mikes is always busy so it's best to make a reservation. I had one for 7pm and we were seated by 7:15. I had: Raspberry lemon drop - 10/10 - no notes Bread basket - 10/10 - this is a must whenever you go to mikes, even if you don't eat bread you must make an allowance when coming here. Calamari - 10/10 - the serving size is always good and the texture of the calamari paired with fried onions and the richness of the sauce. If I believed in a good or bad place, this is how I would know I'm in the good one. Half young chicken - 10/10 - served with mashed potatoes, corn salsa and a brown butter sauce this meal was literally perfect. The cold from the salsa was a great contrast in temperature and texture with the chicken and the mashed potatoes. My only regret is not asking for more butter sauce and salsa to go with my leftovers. Some of my favorites from previous visits: Tex Mex Eggrolls Bacon Cheeseburger Short smoked salmon - the mustard sauce is insane It's always busy inside so it's not a place for quiet conversation BUT if you have some salacious tea it's so loud in here you can get away with it hahaha. Parking is going to be your biggest hurdle here but if you show up after operating hours, the bank next door offers additional parking.

Was my first time trying this place as recommended on RESY with AMEX. The bread was $1 and tasted like fried donuts with a seasoned butter. Was different but overall good. The salad was also really good. The filet mignon was cooked perfect however I ate it so quick and forgot to take a picture. Overall food and vibes were great. The only thing it was super expensive and I would come back on special occasions. They gave me a cracked water glass but swapped it out. read more

Mike's American was everything and more. A two floor restaurant with such a cozy old school vibe. The rolls were fantastic. I got the Bacon Cheeseburger and my wife had the Filet and Crab cakes. The burger was probably the best restaurant style burger I've had. My wife loved the Filet and Crab Cakes as well. Service was friendly and fast. Great place for a date night. Definitely will be returning. read more

First time at Mike's American and it won't be the last! My family and I had a fantastic Easter dinner here. The food was delicious and hit all the right notes. Prime rib, crab cakes and hanger steak salad were cooked to perfection. The service was attentive and friendly. What more could you ask for? I can't wait to come back and try their other menu items. read more

Decent, all the way through. I have come to Mike's on a few occasions. The parking is hectic, very tight. There is a shopping center across the busy intersection, the spaces are bigger and more available. Mike's ambiance is very family style dining in my opinion. Kind of dark and outdated. They offer, burgers, pastas, apps, cocktails, and etc. the food is always ok. You won't order anything that's bad. But I haven't had anything spectacular from here either. On our last visit the majority of our party ordered a cocktail and did not enjoy it. Glad I stuck to ordering a Corona. The service was ok. The table was not cleaned off as we ate, so when they'd bring more items out we'd have no where to put them. We began stacking plates and glasses. Sitting them on a near by ledge, hoping they'd finally remove them. Some of our food items came out incorrect. The manager did come over to check on us and get things straightened out. We were told we had a 2 hour time limit, which we literally have no control over. Our main items took pretty long to come out, then some had to be remade. It's a bit funny that they set limits that they can't adhere to. I mean as customers our time is based off their service and their ability to get our items to us. read more

Mike's American is literally one of my favorites! Can't believe this is my first time ever giving them a review after so many visits over the years but this review is a must. Huge shout out to ALL their staff 8/29/24 working when they lost power, they had their recovery look like a breeze as if nothing even happened. Extremely impressive to still so calm and collective in the mist of a storm. read more
Came in for take-away, order and pickup at bar. Lots of staff but slow, inattentive service. Mike's music is always a little loud IMO, hence take-away. Purchased ribs and subbed the fries and coleslaw with mashed potatoes. Ribs were perfect. The meat was moist, flavorful and just fell off the bones. The potatoes were a tad salty but buttery. Also ordered their Tex-Mex egg rolls, which are my go too. Lived on them during COVID. Deducted one star for the service. read more

Great food, service and ambiance. This place has it all. Went here for lunch and got a delicious chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. We also got the pulled pork sandwich. All were amazing. The place has a great entrance (see pic) with the kitchen off to the right. The ambiance has a classic American style feel. The chicken sandwich was fresh and moist. Would order again. The port sandwich was also amazing. Would definitely comeback and recommend. read more

Popped in here for a late lunch after traveling around DC and the surrounding area. Atmosphere is awesome and the open kitchen looks and smells are amazing! The tequila lime cream pasta was tremendous and the service was spectacular. Completely understand why it was so busy on a Monday afternoon. read more

The GIOOD: The food is always pretty good (especially the drunken ribeye), but getting raisin bread included with the $1 bread/rolls basket is hard because they only have two loaves of it per each of the two floors on the weekends. So, if you're going for dinner, good luck getting the raisin bread. The drunken ribeye (not pictured in this post) is charred beautifully and always good, but at $50, it should be. It's not the most expensive steak out there, though. The other food is always pretty spot-on, too. The BAD (in no specific order): 1. The parking SUCKS. Their parking lot is nowhere near adequate for the customers on almost any given night at dinner time...or on the weekends. It can be very difficult getting in or out to find parking, especially when other cars are trying to do the same. So, once you're able to get out of the full lot safely, the only parking option is the shopping center across the street - a 2-way street with NO CROSSING WALK! In addition to my own frustration with this, the employees are required to park across the street and walk across the lanes of traffic to get to work. Even after expressing frustration with getting through the parking lot traffic and having to park in a shopping center across the street, nothing more than an "oh, sorry" is offered when you make it inside Mike's. No complimentary app to fix the frustrated mood; no discount on the whole meal; nothing. 2. This isn't good or bad, but sometimes you get a really crappy seat that is overly cramped in an overly crowded restaurant (at times unless it's a late weeknight from Mon-Thurs). It's loud, too, on Fr- Sun. Management is hit or miss, but everyone is fairly friendly. Having said that, I don't think all staff is equally trained in customer service and/or restaurant (serving, greeting, speaking) skills. It's good enough for a decent and the upper end of moderately priced meal. I think you're paying a bit much considering the return n investment. read more

Oh hey Mike! I'm extremely grateful for my partner in crime. When you have a foodie best friend you get to visit the BEST restaurants. Mike's is similar to Patsy's in Tyson's so I already knew what was going down. Fried Oysters - Beau loves him some oysters! They were so so yummy! The Salmon was to die for, the wood grill taste is everything! I typically don't eat too many starches (besides bread) but the potatoes were YUMMY! My Beau got the pork chop, he shared (love him for that) and it was delicious! Drinks were awesome! Infamous Ozzie rolls were so good, smiled the whole time eating every single one of them. Yup, this is my Beaus favorite and I know why! It's my favorite too! read more

Mikes American, your food is good however parking is a NIGHTMARE. Yes, they have "additional parking" but it's the inconvenience of being across the street. If there is some way they can add a parking lot- that would be great. Food: We were greeted by our server who asked if we would like bread and drinks, we opted for waters but asked for bread basket which he brought out the fried rolls. For entree, we decided on ribeye's. I got the drunken ribeye with the sides that came with & my boyfriend got the regular ribeye with same sides that came with. I asked for Medium, and it was given to me Medium Well. The steak was slightly tough not sure if it was that particular cut or what. The sauce was tasty and the salad was a good side to have with it. No complaints, other than parking but would return to try other menu items read more

This restaurant is very big. There was two floors to eat at - so if you're meeting a group, know where they're sitting before you're looking for them all over the place like I did. We sat at the bar and our server, Dougy, was spectacular! I asked for a recommendation for a fruity tasty drink that packed a punch and the raspberry vodka drink hit the spot. We also had the Tex mex egg rolls and I had the hanger stick which is available on Wednesday's and Thursdays. My only complaint with my food was that my steak was overcooked. It trended more towards medium well-well done, instead of medium. However, the attentive and quick service made up for it. read more

This a one of the new places I can't find anything negative to say. If I had to find something it would have to be that they are too good so it's always crowded. Saw the reviews and photos that mad Mikes looks great so decided to come by for dinner early evening on a Saturday. The parking lot is rather small and every space was taken. The overflow parking is on the shopping center lot across the street. After experiencing Mikes I can see why they are so popular. I would definitely recommend having a reservation if you are going to come. I made one and when I arrived I was immediately seated/ The friendly waiter came by to quickly take drink orders and provided a few recommendations. For an appetizer the firecracker shrimp was what we decided on. They were tasty with a little spicy kick but not overwhelming. I don't handle spicy well so I was pleasantly surprised that I could eat them with no problem. For the email course I had the Crab Cake & 7 oz filet. Steak was cooked a perfect medium. It was tender and delicious. Crab cake was good not a Maryland style like I am used to but not bad. The best part was the staff. They kept everything running smoothly and had ample people to keep everyone served properly. The ambiance is trpical American fair. read more

Mike's American is one of my favorite restaurants in Alexandria and never lets me down on taste and quality. Came here with a party of two on Father's Day. I anticipated that the restaurant may be really busy due to the holiday so I made sure to make reservations. After we checked in, we were quickly sat with no issue. While I have tried various items on the menu and everything is delicious, I do have my go to's that I can suggest to anyone visiting for the first time. Firstly, get the bread. It's delicious and worth it. Secondly, the spinach dip or the blue crab balls are amazing. For entrees, I always get the smoked salmon dish with the mashed potatoes. It is always delicious and never lets me down. Parking can be a little bit of an issue. While the restaurant is huge, the size of the parking lot is not equal to it. I highly recommend coming for any occasion! read more
Just WOW!!! The food, service, and ambiance was amazing!!! This is part of the great American chain restaurants. So there's similar items on the menu. I will say this is by far one of my favorites out of the others. This place is huge! They have a baseball theme going, yet it's super classy looking. We ordered the: Salad with a warm crusted cheese, cranberries, and walnuts 10/10 Crab Cake & 5 oz Filet Mignon 10/10 Ribeye 9/10 Overall, super delicious and I will definitely be back. They gave great portions, the price wasn't too terrible, and food quality was superb. read more

Wow! wow! Every aspect of this restaurant was on point!! When we arrived we were greeted and seated right away. We were a Party of four. Everyone ordered something a little different. And all enjoyed their meals. I definitely enjoy the raspberry lemon drop I look forward to coming to this restaurant again and trying something different . I loved how they had an open kitchen . It seemed like every single person was actively working. It was nice to see the assembly line. read more

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS PLACE!! From beginning to end the experience was amazing. The customer service of each person was absolutely flawless and comfortable. I made reservations online same day I wanted to come in and it was no hassle, I do recommend reservations because this place was super busy and constantly flowing with people. Even with all the people everything was still a smooth experience. There was no wait for food to come out, drinks were absolutely delicious & my server Matt was knowledgeable, friendly and even paid attention to my online profile of "shellfish allergy" so i was pleased to see that they actually pay attention to customers allergies and request. Heads up, the parking lot can be a little crowded so you may have to lap a few times before getting a spot, but overall the restaurant was a 10/10 food, drinks, service, decor I WILL DEFINITELY BE RETURNING read more

Found out about this place on instagram and had to give it a try and I must say I was very impressed! I did attend with a small group and we had reservations. The restaurant had a different levels but each level was pretty full so I definitely would suggest you make reservations. Now to the food, everything was well seasoned and tasted fresh. I had the salmon well done paired with a caesar salad, mash potatoes and it had some house made chips on top. It was one of the best pieces of salmon I have had from a restaurant in a while. We also had crab cakes which was also delicious. For dessert we tried the bread pudding and I don't even care for bread pudding but this right here OMG amazingly delicious !! It was so good I would ride back just for that. I definitely recommend this spot and can't wait to try it again ! read more

Ask the Community - Mike's American
Is there a time limit for lunch?
Yes they like to keep all parties to a 2 hour limit
I like the food at Mike's but it is way too noisy - for a classy restaurant it seems Mike's mgmt does care about ambiance (lighting & low noise). So when would be the best time to visit Mikes and also have low noise?
I’ve only ever been in the evening and it’s always loud
Average price for weekend brunch?
Mike's does not have a brunch; however, all menu items are available similar to other days
Why does this place list "vegan options" when the only vegan options are a salad, and a few vegetable sides? When people are looking for restaurants that have vegan options, they are looking for the option of at least 1, but preferably 2 entrees?
Because they sell entree salads and technically those are vegan options some vegans might actually enjoy . The restaurant is known for their steak entrees so when looking it up for places to eat, maybe look up the background as well.
Are dogs allowed in the outdoor seating area?
There is a bench outside that you can wait.
Is there an "our story"? I'd love to know about the history of this place
