The technician had absolutely no idea what he was doing. He was surly and uncommunicative. Run a mile from this company. He went to the fau and started shaking and pushing at it. He broke the support. He then totally disconnected the nest control and turned it offline rendering it useless. This took 10 minutes. Water was suddenly leaking through our ceiling in the entryway of our home and we discovered it was coming from the condensate drain pan of our hvac system in the attic. Upon closer inspection water was leaking out of the drain pan from under the overflow safety shut off switch. Therefore the sensor never got triggered when the pan began to fill and the hvac did not shut off, causing the water to continuously flow out. I called MightyServ as last October they had replaced the overflow shut off switch. The technician discovered that the switch was installed incorrectly by the previous MightyServ technician. He fixed and cleaned everything and suggested that I ask for him specifically to come back and double check everything at my next membership maintenance visit the following week. I immediately afterwards spoke with the manager at MightyServ to let him know my husband and I were really shocked and upset about the previous bad installation and the damage it had caused. I asked for my money back for the recent service - basically fixing something they had ultimately created. Really that was the minimum as they should be compensating me for new drywall and paint in the entryway. We don't even know the full extent of the damage inside the ceiling - there could be mold everywhere we can't see. Anyway, the manager said he had to speak to the other managers (?) and that he would call me back. He never did. The following week for my maintenance service another technician arrived after I specifically asked for the one who had just serviced us. Of course he had no idea what had happened. I asked what he was going to clean today and he said just the condenser unit. He said they don't do any other cleaning until the winter. I mentioned when I joined last winter they said they don't do any cleaning until the summer. So basically the membership plans are a rip off. I paid more for the Silver Plan as it stated that there would be annual deep cleaning of components - never happened. It's been six weeks now and no word from anybody. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

We recently moved into our townhouse, and wanted to have our HVAC system checked and maintained. Our neighbor recommended MightyServ, who quoted $120 for the "Maintenance Service." A representative arrived and spent about 20 minutes assessing our system. He changed the filter, said everything seemed fine, but emphasized that our HVAC unit was very old. After a few days of running the HVAC fan, we noticed a burning smell throughout the unit and promptly turned everything off. We contacted MightyServ to help us figure out what happened. Unfortunately, instead of sending a technician to inspect the unit, they dispatched a salesperson. A s-a-l-e-s-p-e-r-s-o-n. He didn't examine the unit at all. Instead, he did nothing except stand in our living room, listen to us tell him what happened (the above paragraph), and proceeded to quote us $1,350 to "fix the problem" and suggested a replacement of the entire HVAC unit for $12,000 - $15,000. What was alarming to me was this assessment was made without even laying eyes on the unit. This is similar to say, a car mechanic diagnosing issues without opening the hood or attempting to start the car. We sought a second opinion from another HVAC company. Their technician identified the issue as requiring new capacitors, which cost $55 each (we needed two). After replacing them, he confirmed that the unit was in good condition. He also recommended a simple maintenance routine, including cleaning the coils inside and outside, and adding more refrigerant. Total price: $305.83. It has been great since! We have experienced zero problems. It's disappointing what happened with MightyServ. After the experience with the sales person, we wrote them to but have not heard back, We hope this review helps others make informed decisions about their HVAC service providers. read more

Great Service Had a brand new Carrier HVAC system put in a couple months ago. Our old one was 20 years old. They had put that one in too. We have used MightyServ (Canoga Park Heating & Cooling) for 20 years for service. Always a great experience. Techs friendly, knowledgeable and on time. Eddie worked with us to find best option for our 1200 sq house. Very happy with the install. The system has been working excellent. The office followed up with us to be sure all was good. They never cleaned my AC correctly and city inspection was shocked at their job. They lied about the wiring of installing a nest in order to charge more. LATE REVIEW FROM 2020. I wasn't going to post this originally, but after being told today that Canoga Park Heating & Air had me on a "do not service" ban, I had to say something. The below message is from a 10/16/2020 email I sent CPHAC. I got home last night at 2am to see my A/C sys had broken down. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! "I just want to make this 100% crystal clear. I wouldn't have had to have another HVAC tradesman come in to replace the ducting installed by Canoga Park Heating & Air Conditioning if the system were spec'd out correctly in the 1st place for a 5 ton system. I had asked for a 5 ton unit from inset of dealing w/CPHAC. It was your specialist (Doug) who showed up to estimate the install & designed the system in which they sold me. I made it clear I wanted the unit to be placed to be placed in the front of the attic, not the rear, because I was installing a new drop down ladder to access the attic. When the work crews got here, somehow it was misunderstood where the unit was going to be placed & ended up in the back. Myself & Eddie argued about this & he said he wasn't moving the unit. I kept mentioning the 5 ton unit & Eddie paused & said wait a second. He then came back & said we need to remove this unit. I said why? He said they screwed up & installed a 4 ton unit. Now Eddie said we can put it where I wanted (which was agreed to from inception of dealing with Doug of CPHAC). The install crew installed the 5 ton unit & their ducting & got it running. I noticed that once the system was running it wasn't cooling the house the same front to back, & that the unit really wasn't performing like a 5 ton system should. It wasn't only unevenly cooling, but also had to run a long time to get the house cooled off. Eddie came back out to try to balance the system & find out why the unit wasn't cooling the house off properly. I didn't find out what Eddie & another specialist he brought with him had done until I had a journeyman come out much later from my work at the airport where I work. The person I hired to assess the situation said Eddie & CPHAC's specialist had changed the dip switch settings on my new unit to behave like a 4 ton unit. Once the tech I hired did his analysis of the install, he said the ducting that CPHAC installed was sub sized for the unit they installed. Which is why a he had to add a second return, much larger ducting & larger vents. The journeyman I hired put the dip switch settings back to what they should have been on the unit & did the whole ducting installation. The result was night & day. Now the system runs for 5-10 minutes & then shuts off. It cools the house much faster, and behaved this way even through this summers 115-120 weather. Had I left the system the way it was originally designed by CPHAC, it would have eventually resulted in higher operating costs of my unit (running longer than needed) and would have eventually caused further problems as the journeyman I hired explained that the unit was on the high end of allowable heat exchange specs due to the improper duct sizing. To say the least, this has been a giant nightmare for me that should have never had happened had this system been designed correctly & appropriately from the get go. I appreciate the fact that you were willing to deduct the costs of me having to fix the system you installed ($4500). But. That doesn't take into consideration the hassle & headaches, & the months I had to go through not only during the installation, but then to find out that your crew was just trying to band aid a comprehensive problem they built into the system. I didn't appreciate the letter stating you'd attempt to damage my perfect credit, and was willing to take you to court over it. I have two legal insurance policies I pay for & was willing to take you to court over this whole scenario. I now have the engineering specs & math calculations of how the system should have been designed & setup originally. This was done by the journeyman that I had hired to fix your work. I also have the new layout specs as well." read more

Incompetent or a rip off?! Our A/C did not turn on after 8 months of no use. MightyServ came and misdiagnosed saying we needed a new compressor and maintenance for $6700. We got a 2nd opinion with FreshAir Conditioning (they were competent and honest) diagnosed it as electrical problem. Called electrician and works for $180. read more

Just replaced our entire system as part of a bigger remodel. We worked with Craig on the initial scope and sales / customer success side of things and Roberto was our lead technician on the install. They were thorough, polite, detailed and everyone was super respectful of our space, keeping things clean and doing a stellar job with everything. We did wind up going with a dual zone, top of the line system (the weather where we live gets cold in the winter by LA standards and super hot in the summer, so comfort is key - but we also wanted top level efficiency) so it was not cheap, but we did get multiple bids and CP was competitive. They did also offer us several options of less expensive systems, and even offered us a couple options to repair our current system, ensuring we had access to all the information we needed to make an informed decision. As soon as our new system switched on, within hours, our home was comfortable, and has been ever since - we are completely convinced we made the right decision. I mentioned that we have a bigger remodel going on - our contractor poked his head up into the attic and was floored by the team's work. Definitely recommend using CP Heating & AC for your repair, maintenance and system replacements - good people, and they definitely know their stuff. read more

Disappointed. I used them a few years ago for a repair and they seemed honest, that's why I kept the number. This year, my ac stopped working and they sent out a guy who replaced the capacitor (sp?) and said it wasn't that. He said he'd have to replace the board to find out if it was actually the blower because he didn't think it was the board. He said we were already talking about nearly 4000 grand, so I should consider a new system. Craig came out to give me an estimate - between 19 and 29 thousand dollars with new duct work. I shopped around to find that was a higher price. But beyond that - the other company who came out spent about 20 minutes to look at the system and immediately found it was the board. The tech brought it down and showed me the clearly burned out whatsits on the board - CLEARLY BURNED OUT! He fixed the ac unit for 650 and said a new one comparable to their 22 thousand unit would cost me 12 grand from his company. Seriously, guys? So completely disappointed in the company. read more

These are my AC People. I've had them come and regularly maintain my system for a few years now. I've recommended them time and time again. One of my friends calls them, "The Magic Cold Air Guys." She's recommended them countless times too. Two days ago, my neighbor's AC stopped working. The first AC people who came out, told her she needed a new system for 25k. That didn't sit right with me. I told her, I had trusted AC people. She gave them a call. She was expecting that, she needed a new AC system. Turns out, it was a couple hundred dollar part. She was back up and running. I feel better knowing, I can have a trusted company come take care of me, my friends, and neighbors. It's hard to find a company that doesn't take advantage of women. The repair guy they sent out was condescending and rude. He also gave incorrect answers. Our HVAC interior has peeling insulation and years of dust to the peeling and missing screws. The water condensation release valve had fallen off and water was getting into the unit. He told us there is no issue with mold without even peeling back the insulation to check. We can smell it every morning. He also refused to replace the AC water condensation drain pipe that we originally called for. It's part of the central AC. If you don't have the skills, don't brand yourself a HVAC repair shop. They clueless response to my review just sealed my opinion of their incompetence. We had to insist on fixing visible problems and will have to fix the valve ourselves. It is now five weeks and we're still waiting on replacement insulation. It does not take that long to order pieces of plastic and foil! read more

We had a brand new unit & ducts put in 20 years ago and at the first rain our roof was leaking. We also had a brand new roof. We went back-and-forth with the roofers and canoga Air- each business, blaming the other one. Fast forward 20 years when we go to sell our house we learned that we had indoor ductwork on the outside roof. Mystery solved. Canoga Air put indoor ducts outside. This explained 20 years of a leaking roof as well as the exorbitant AC bills and lack of cooling. read more

Service Date 06/2023. Back Story: In 2017 Canoga Heating and Air Conditioning successfully fixed our system and got it running again - having replace some older equipment/parts. That was five years ago. Recently, we felt it time to check that the system was running at full efficiency so we called them back again for a routine check. I was stunned to hear technician, xxxx, say the system was "over-charged" and would cost $500 to fix. If he had stated the system was undercharged, that I'd understand because it's been 5 years since last serviced and repaired by this company. If "over-charged" is accurate, then this means that after they repaired the system 2017, they left it over-charged - no one has touched the system since. The diagnosis seemed a bit strange anyways. To be safe and for my records I asked the tech for a copy of the test results, I was told that I couldn't have it. I mentioned that I was paying for the diagnosis and asked why not? I was told to call the office, which I did, but never received a reply. My question is why the secrecy... Recommendation to Company: If after testing and reporting hvac system issues that are going to cost money to fix, and to avoid the possible appearance of looking sketchy, please back up your reports with test results given to the customer e.g., Car dealerships = diagnostic reports. Investments = gains and loss reports. Doctor = lab reports. Dentist = x-rays and insurance billing, etc. Thank you. read more

Mighty serve used to be Canoga heating and air who I used for over 12 years and their service was great, however since Mighty Serve took over the service has gone downhill. They don't call you back and I had an appointment scheduled and I had to call to see where they were as they usually give you a heads up that the technician is on their way and it was 20 minutes until the end of the window period they gave me (12:00-4:00) and when I called they told me they would be late that the guy was coming from LA which would take at least another hour most likely. I will be using a different company going forward! read more

After 10 plus years of using this company we have finally had enough. Service was so so depending on the Technician, but this last time was the end. We had an issue with our heater. We made an appointment days in advance. Received a text the Technician was on his way. Never came. Received another 2 hours later agreeing to wear a mask. Never came. Called after waiting the 4 hour window, place closed. No call back. No apology. I called several days later and they came up with some excuse, but no service company should treat a long standing client like that. So we have moved on to a different company and hope they will be our new long term AC/Heating service. We no longer recommend this company to friends, neighbors, or anyone looking for this kind of company for their AC/Heating needs. read more

I requested his best guy and I sure got him. Miguel!!! He was trained by my FAVORITE technician who retired and he worked just like Allen. Such a relief to get an HONEST technician who cares about you having a good air conditioner AND he told me about their maintenance program. I had it for years until it got too expensive for me but now they let you pay a low monthly charge and you have all the great services that come with it!
