They are not the most expensive nor the least, however, they are consummate professionals. Lynn who coordinated our complete master bath/closet remodel was amazing. In just one visit Lynn turned the ideas in our heads into a blue print drawing of exactly what we were thinking, only better! All workmen and sub-contractors were not only excellent craftsmen, they were courteous, respectful and cleaned up their mess daily. Lynn's knowledge base is exceptional. She is well versed in all the ins and outs of her industry. There was not a question she couldn't answer...standard size, distance between cabinets and shower, venting, lighting, how NOT to pick cabinets that are over-priced for the home they going into. What we found most helpful was Lynn's sense of design and color. Lynn has a gift for filling a room with granite, tile, wall color and making it all come together in a way you could never have imagined. Lynn has helped us with several color and decorator projects and we are continually amazed! Every project (4 to date) has exceeded our expectations!!!

Two ways to pronounce it: the Germanic way (correct), or the frenchified way (acceptable). My wife pronounced it the Germanic way. They lady corrected her in such a conceited and pretentious way - however she said it neither way. She did it in a poor attempt at the French one. So perfect, you can't see a seam?…read more Five stars is not enough! A friend referred me to this local countertop shop. I had lived with new marble top installed by previous homeowner in my kitchen since I moved in 8 years ago. But.. the pattern was very busy, never had a nice sheen, and when I placed a clear drinking glass on it, you easily missed it? (You can't miss it in one of the pictures below.) First visit was to their Batavia facility to take home samples and discuss approximate costs with a very knowledgeable and personable staff. Second visit was to my home to measure. Third was at their site with templates of my layout on the actual slab so I could see the grain and seam alignment as it would appear in finished countertop. This was fantastic because as much as I loved the pattern I had selected, I did not like the way it would appear completed. With NO pressure at all, I was encouraged to choose from similar patterns on their many other slabs of quartz so I could get the look I wanted. Templates were placed on another choice and the veins looked like they would match close at the seam. Three professionals arrived promptly at 8am and departed at 11am (perfectly as promised) and the finished job was more than I ever imagined. I had to really search for the seam but could only feel it as it is perfect... can you find it in the picture? (HINT: blue post-its align on seam in second image.)

Tearing a historic house apart for a remodel is no treat, take it from me. My current home is the…read more4th in a series of old historic homes that I have renovated over the years. But the biggest thrill (and expense) in any of those remodels is the kitchen. If you are looking for a custom kitchen, then look no further than Past Basket. These guys are pros working with you every step of the way overlooking no small detail. Their showroom in Geneva actually is made up of their furniture quality cabinetry so that you can see what kind of potential pieces that you may want in your kitchen. They design and draw working with you and your architect to create a one of a kind design that you will just love to cook in. Since old houses are puzzles- putting a new kitchen in that looks like it had been there since the house was built- but has all the modern amenities was my goal. Dan McFadden and his team at Past Basket created an award winning kitchen for me that looks like it was part of the original house. The glass in the cabinets is wavy and old, the pulls on the doors worn looking, the armoire that hides my refrigerator and the cabinets that hide the modern day appliances all are functional as well as beautiful. No detail is too small for this team- in fact- they did such a good job on the kitchen- I also had them make the cabinetry for the family room as well as the master bathroom. They even solved my makeup lighting problem in the bathroom by creating lights that mimic the makeup counters at fine stores. They are also the only dealer for La Cornue stoves in the area. Once I saw one of these french works of stove art- I just knew it would be the centerpiece for my kitchen. Custom cabinetry may not be for everyone. After all- if you are not planning to stay in your home for awhile to enjoy it- there are certainly less expensive options around. But if you love to cook, and love the feeling of fine furniture no matter what room you are in your home- then go to Past Basket. Even if you only look around to get ideas for the future- or if you are there with your builder to get started- their staff will love to create with you the kitchen of your dreams. I should know. They did it for me

Truly impressed and grateful for the craftsmanship and originality of the custom piece Graham…read morecreated. I was looking for a unique home office installation that could function as a workspace while also housing my library of music, photo albums, and books. I also had some specific wish list items such as a "hiding" bourbon nook. While the functionality of the piece was crucial, I would dare to say the aesthetic was even more important to me. My hope was that the space would be so inviting and inspiring that even after I'd hang up ye ole' work hat, that I'd still want to linger in the room to unwind with a good book, some good tunes (and maybe a tumbler of good bourbon too...). I've dropped in some photos of the finished product as well as my original crappy doodle of what I was looking for and will try to upload a few photos once I get everything settled. Graham and his small but mighty team were amazing to work with from start to finish. Graham was highly collaborative and offered phenomenal suggestions. My favorite was his suggestion to situate the bookshelves above the desk at an angle. This provided more of an ample workspace and also added to the artistic flare of the piece. I plan on hanging up a canvas print in between the bookshelves, so the orientation of the shelves will also guide the eye to the print. Because Willson Woodworking is pretty much a one person show, it took a few months from when I gave the green light to when the finished product was installed. However, Graham and team were upfront from the beginning about how many projects were queued up prior to mine. It is beyond worth it to have a one-of-a-kind piece that is of the highest quality rather than something that is mass produced and can be found in every other home. One other note on value: I did reach out to two other contractors about the project before deciding on Willson Woodworking. One was a local handyman, and one was a closet solutions company. All three quotes came in at roughly the same price. I think this speaks volumes about just how reasonable Willson Woodworking was in terms of pricing. This was definitely an investment regardless of which contractor I chose, but there was no comparison between the three in terms of the finished product. Shout out to Kevin, who professionally painted the shelves (regent blue). Like Graham, Kevin was kind enough to stop by my house and talk through thoughts on color choices. Plus, he helped Graham install the finished product! Another shout out to Raychel, who coordinated the administrative components of the project.
