I purchased a kitchenaid mixer floor model on Friday 12/26. I understood final sale and we plugged it in to ensure it worked with the whisk attachment. when I went to make bread on Sunday I found the dough hook and beater attachment were not for this machine. I called and asked if they color for the correct ones and she said no, final sale. I was going to ask if she could take my name and number in case they find them or if the person who got them also called but she hung up. I get your location is closing but after that interaction guess what the chances are I'll shop at any Crate and Barrel again. *update, I called corporate and this has been resolved, I changed the rating to reflect the service I received from them. read more

I have been to crate & barrel all over the Chicagoland area and keep coming back to Geneva for a well stocked store, easy parking and excellent customer service. I have been so happy with my sofa purchase. I was helped by Fran who was so friendly, gracious and really has an eye for space and design. She let me change out pillows to get my look on the floor model and even helped me save a ton with the points credit card they offer. Since I was buying so much it just made sense. I also really like the way the store layout is, well stocked but not cramped and large aisles to walk in. read more

Typically a pretty pleasant buying experience. Have bought nearly half of what's in my kitchen cabinets and drawers, and a Nespresso Breville at this location. Depending on who the associate is, if you're young, you will get followed around, "somebody's watching me" by Rockwell should play more often to at least make light of their hovering. Some indiscrete profiling, makes you feel young at least ... like you're a high schooler in an MC sports (throwback - I'm almost 30). Perhaps they're not familar with modern atheisure brands, because no issue when dressed more "fancy". But usually a good shopping experience if you're willing to play retail roulette and come back another day for the chance at other associates, or if you have a plan before coming in. read more

I would've given one star based on tonight's experience, however because of other recent experiences that were much more positive, I'll be generous and provide two instead. Tonight, I was in the store looking to purchase a Staub frypan. Not cheap, and I have spent quite a bit of money with C&B in the last 3 months or so. I believe it was in their best interest to HELP me find one in stock, instead of watching me make that phone call to ask if another location had one in stock. When I asked if they could help me call 2 locations to see who had one available, they said that because they were short staffed they wanted me to make the phone calls and give the SKU number and talk to the other associates at the other stores on my own. Do you really think that's the best customer service you can provide? Especially considering no one was waiting in line behind me, and instead of picking up their phone directly behind the register, 3 feet away from them- they felt it was best to watch me make the phone call with my cell phone at register. Again, no one waiting in line to pay, those same associates just walking around the store greeting people. Lovely. I walk out the door in frustration, call the Skokie Crate & Barrel, a very friendly gentleman answered and said he would check their stock room to see if they had a pan new in a box. Turns out they had one, he helps me process the order over the phone and ships it to my home. Now that, is customer service. Tonight was the last time I'll shop at the Geneva location. I didn't ask them for anything out of the ordinary. I simply asked them to help do what they're there for. read more

Excellent customer service. Anytime I have visited this store I'm promptly assisted. Their products are high quality.

While we like this store, for some reason, every time we're there, Security follows us around like we're wearing black masks and stocking caps and tiptoeing around. We're in our sixties, dressed in jeans and shirts from Kohl's...do we not meet their standards? Should we be wearing Armani? The best part is, my husband's a cop! He spots them easily. But who wouldn't? They're literally three feet behind us! And the females don't carry purses--pretty obvious they're not shopping! While I understand loss prevention, they're terribly conspicuous but it's very off-putting. Please install security cameras instead of performing the traveling colonoscopy you do now. read more

I am a fan of all things Crate & Barrel. They have my wedding registry and I love them. Shopping in the store puts me in a good mood. It's so cheerful. I should work there. On Christmas, I received a box of margarita glasses. Unfortunately, one was cracked. I called the store the day after Christmas and the woman who helped me was so pleasant! She quickly checked the sku number to see if they had the item in stock and assured me that they did and I could come in to exchange it. Her taking my call on the day after Christmas, which I'm sure was packed and crazy, was great! Crate & Barrel gets 5 stars from me. read more

I like this location so much more than Oak Brook. First, we registered at the Geneva shop for our wedding. The sales associate had some difficulty with the computer system, but I think it was just a glitch with the equipment. She was very patient and willing to assist us. Then we were able to walk around the store, uninterrupted with no one breathing down our necks, and register for whatever we liked. We were also able to delete things without asking for assistance. Second, we got a free gift for registering. It wasn't something lame like a Happy Meal toy either, we received a small, very nice clear vase. I've used it one or two times. Last, once your wedding date has passed, they send you 10% off cards for items on your list that weren't purchased. BONUS: the 10% off is good for items that weren't on your list as well. Most recently, I visited this store to purchase bedding. I was assisted almost immediately, and when I changed my mind about pillowcases, the associate was still friendly toward me even though she had to go back in the warehouse. read more

So here's my secret shame: I recently moved into a new apartment in Oak Park (which, as a side note, is AWESOME). So naturally I told myself, I need new stuff. But not just any ol' new stuff. New Stuff from C&B. Now, I'm 22 years old. I've been ogling the selection at this store since I was in middle school and they first opened, just dreaming of the day that I would be able to furnish my own nest with their finery. Then came the day that I had the chance. I went and picked out an entertainment center and a flatware set. Oh. My. Goodness. I've never been more satisfied with a consumer experience IN MY LIFE. Not only were they friendly, but they called me a few days after I picked up the entertainment center (it would have cost extra to have it delivered so far away from the store I ordered from) to make sure that everything went smoothly. And when I say "they called", I mean the woman who sold me the center, remembered my name, and told me that if I needed anything to let her know. Great customer service. On top of all that, I got a hand-written "thank you" note on C&B stationary in the mail yesterday. I mean, I realize the sales gal is out to sell me more furniture, however if there's one thing I truly appreciate, it's not having to look at a bill from a place, but a hand-written note. I can't say enough good things about them. I'll be registering for wedding items there someday, and I don't think I'll shop anywhere for furniture or cookware again. Do yourself a major favor and head to Crate & Barrel for anything you need. read more

We ordered furniture for the sunroom in our new house November 25,2017. My wife chose a color on one piece that was custom and Gina our sales associate was assisted by another employee to get it into the computer. We left with a copy of the sales invoice, knowing that the order was going to take approximately 8weeks for delivery. We got a call the last week of January saying that everything was in and delivery would be February 8, 2018 and they'd call to confirm on February 6th. When the delivery was made we got the right color slipcovers, but no chair. Calling customer service, they verified the rest of the order, but said we never purchased the chair. I said we did leave with the paperwork and yes we wanted a complete chair. I asked about driving to their warehouse and picking it up myself. So a manager, Nancy called me back and arranged for pickup at the warehouse late that afternoon. She and everyone else were courteous and professional handling the situation, and very apologetic. My sincere thank you for making it work. My wife loves her choices. read more

I so wanted to give my recent experience five stars but cannot due to the ineptitude of this store. I recently purchased a console table for my new flat screen, had it delivered, hubby set it all up and I plopped down on the sofa to admire it and one of the cabinet handles was crooked. I don't mean like this piece is rustic, slightly off center, I mean like twenty degrees off. I called the store the next day and never got a call back. Following day they called me at work and didn't apologize. Really. So I set up a reorder and asked could they please check the handles before the new piece is sent. The not so friendly lady said yes but that I better check them too! So, second Sunday delivery today and the delivery guy had us come out to the truck and take a look because he thought the handle was crooked. I couldn't believe my ears. I put on my shoes, walked outside and it's the same. Delivery guy said he would let the store know what happened. I picked up a voice mail later this morning that I refused delivery on the new piece. Yep, apparently I'm the one with the problem. So I called the manager back who was polite but annoyed. She said they try not to do more than three deliveries and maybe I should go to the warehouse and pick one. Nope. Then she wanted to set up another delivery date and of course it's another Sunday. I have to set aside more time for this fiasco. I'm so disappointed in you Crate and Barrel. I've been shopping at your store for years and even registered there. I guess Room and Board will appreciate your lack of concern. Your loss is their gain. read more

I have had a very bad experience with the quality of the furniture I purchased at the Geneva store. It is not holding up at all and looks like I bought it years ago and it is only 6 months old. I have been trying for 2 months to get resolution and basically was told that the defect is on my end - type of clothing we are wearing. Not only is this insulting to the customer but I am appalled that the cost and quality. I was told the general manager would call and when he didn't I called myself. I was told he was out of the office all week. The right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. No one has resolved the issue to date and it is constant run around. I will never purchase anything from Crate and Barrel again. read more

We live out of state but our families live in the Chicago area, so our wedding is back home and the shower was too. I came back for our shower last weekend and we received nearly our entire registry. Since I flew in for the weekend, I could only take a large bag to bring home unbreakable items, almost all the C + B gifts were left behind to be stored at my parents' house. It would have cost a fortune to ship and insure all the gifts, so we were thinking about waiting 4 months until we came back for our wedding and bringing them home with us afterward. My mom called the Geneva store and explained our predicament. The associate pulled up the registry and offered to ship everything from the store -- at no charge! Awesome customer service! read more

We love this location of Crate & Barrel. Great sales team-very friendly and helpful. Worked with us to pick out new dishes, and they were sweet to our children while we finished up, one of the associates kept them engaged at the Christmas decorations with all the little plush decorations. read more
