If you're looking for resale furniture in the Chicago area, it's almost essential you visit…read moreJubilee, both their Carol Stream and Lombard locations. They have the largest selection by far, and most of what they accept is in good condition. There's always something interesting in their collection, which at any time has handmade, vintage, collectible, and other unique items alongside more conventional ones. The more desirable vintage and antique items won't be cheap, but they'll be cheaper than at a curated vintage or antique furniture shop. Jubilee isn't a thrift store, and in some cases their prices can be a bit high. Everything is final sale, so there's an element of "buyer beware," like most resale shops. They put the brand name on the price tag if it's a selling point, but not so much for cheaper brands. Once I purchased an item here, and when I got home I found the label and saw it was made in China by a low-end furniture company. I never would have paid as much had I known, so I felt a bit duped. However I still wound up going back as I never found as much furniture I liked anywhere else. And for what it's worth, the item has held up. Most of their service is provided by volunteers, who are nice, but some are more knowledgeable than others. To sum up, it's not perfect, but in a retail landscape where most new furniture is either flimsy "manufactured wood" or ultra-expensive high end brands, Jubilee helps fill an important gap for affordable quality furniture.

Although I didn't find what I was looking for, I found many reasons to return. Considering it's a bunch of different vendors you really never know what you'll find. Some of the items were a bit overpriced from the booth but a lot of them are having January sales. A good majority of the booths were a bit vacant too and even a whole aisle was gone too. Definitely a place worth checking out But overall I wasn't too impressed either.

After perusing a while longer I went to check out. Was told the total was $31 and some change..... I was so confused and asked how (the real price should have been $21 something) so she goes on to say "oh yeah the sweater is $20, that's $10 and half off and those are so and so and so and so". Well, that's odd - I thought.... But I wanted the sweater so I just paid to get out of there. (Paid cash like an idiot and didn't get a receipt ) Got to my car to check the price tag on the sweater and what do ya know?? She took it every other price tag was still intact on every other item I purchased (as I know some antique stores save the tags for the separate vendors to keep track) so now it's double Hinky!! I'm bummed I didn't go back in and ask to see the tag but what can I do now. Oh well, live and learn. Hang onto your items if you shop here otherwise you're liable to fall prey to the age old switcharoo!

I've visited many times and always find it welcoming with a unique and carefully selected assortment of gifting ideas. They sell beautiful cards hand made by the merchants mother which is usually what I stop in for. I'd like to comment on some of the reviews regarding prices. While you maybe can save a little by ordering and purchasing some of these products online, the prices certainly are not outrageous. I, for one, appreciate having a store to shop in. There is no substitute for being able to see and touch items. A storefront comes with cost. I'm willing to pay a little extra for the shopping experience. I've also seen them sampling products quite often as well which is always great. Keep up the good work!
