Truly impressed and grateful for the craftsmanship and originality of the custom piece Graham created. I was looking for a unique home office installation that could function as a workspace while also housing my library of music, photo albums, and books. I also had some specific wish list items such as a "hiding" bourbon nook. While the functionality of the piece was crucial, I would dare to say the aesthetic was even more important to me. My hope was that the space would be so inviting and inspiring that even after I'd hang up ye ole' work hat, that I'd still want to linger in the room to unwind with a good book, some good tunes (and maybe a tumbler of good bourbon too...). I've dropped in some photos of the finished product as well as my original crappy doodle of what I was looking for and will try to upload a few photos once I get everything settled. Graham and his small but mighty team were amazing to work with from start to finish. Graham was highly collaborative and offered phenomenal suggestions. My favorite was his suggestion to situate the bookshelves above the desk at an angle. This provided more of an ample workspace and also added to the artistic flare of the piece. I plan on hanging up a canvas print in between the bookshelves, so the orientation of the shelves will also guide the eye to the print. Because Willson Woodworking is pretty much a one person show, it took a few months from when I gave the green light to when the finished product was installed. However, Graham and team were upfront from the beginning about how many projects were queued up prior to mine. It is beyond worth it to have a one-of-a-kind piece that is of the highest quality rather than something that is mass produced and can be found in every other home. One other note on value: I did reach out to two other contractors about the project before deciding on Willson Woodworking. One was a local handyman, and one was a closet solutions company. All three quotes came in at roughly the same price. I think this speaks volumes about just how reasonable Willson Woodworking was in terms of pricing. This was definitely an investment regardless of which contractor I chose, but there was no comparison between the three in terms of the finished product. Shout out to Kevin, who professionally painted the shelves (regent blue). Like Graham, Kevin was kind enough to stop by my house and talk through thoughts on color choices. Plus, he helped Graham install the finished product! Another shout out to Raychel, who coordinated the administrative components of the project. There was a few months from when we originally spoke to when the closet organizer was put in so I Was a little nervous that he would forget what we told him we wanted and do his own thing. However the finished product was exactly what we talked about. He must take great notes! He also gave suggestions along the way and asked when he needed to make a decision. I liked that he didn't just assume things- he confirmed them before he did anything. Also very easy going guy, easy to talk to, nice to have in your home, considering we have 2 labs and 3 kids under 3 years old he was pretty calm with all our chaos! One thing I will say is he's busy so he might take a few days to respond to emails so just be patient . He does everything himself (bookings, quotes, contracts, the work). I assume he answers his messages in his free time but I assume that's limited. He worked on ours the week of Xmas and was done the 21st and said he still had a bar to finish that week. So definitely a busy man but worth the wait. read more

We've been remodeling our home for the last 6 months since purchasing earlier this year. We had a couple projects we needed help on so we called Graham after finding him on Yelp. First was replacing the existing range hood but in order to replace it, we needed to modify the cabinets above the stove in order to have enough clearance for the open flame gas stove we were installing. This is where Graham came in - he cut out a section of cabinetry and rebuilt them to fit the new range hood. Not only did he modify the cabinet but he also helped install the range hood. Final product looks amazing and you couldn't even tell that the entire cabinet was rebuilt. The other project was our fireplace mantle. We had a very 90's, classic oak mantel-piece that just didn't fit our style. We removed it and purchased a solid oak barn beam to use instead. The beam had holes in it where it was tied in with other beams in the barn. Graham took the beam to his shop finished it for us, filled in the holes with wood plugs and installed it on the fireplace a few weeks later. You can't even tell the holes were there and one was front and center. He left it very natural looking, which is what we asked for but also cleaned it up so it didn't look like scrap wood. The install is solid and the new piece looks great! It was great working with Graham. He's very honest and down to earth. Won't hassle you and listens to what you want and does his very best to accommodate. I couldn't recommend him enough! read more

We had a beautiful antique door that we wanted installed in a preexisting cased opening. We reached out to Graham based on internet reviews, and he stopped by a few days later. We could immediately tell that Graham knew what he was doing - he immediately saw that the door was slightly too narrow for the space, and proposed building a new casing and jamb to accommodate the door's size. He proposed using mahogany for the trim in order to better match the grain of the door when staining, and building a custom header, which we thought were great suggestions. At the end, he submitted a quote that we thought was very reasonable. Over the next two weeks, he patched some holes in the door that had been filled in with spray foam insulation and built the new casing. When we told him that we wanted an inswinging door instead of an outswinging door, he accommodated that modification. When the knob hardware we gave him was too big, he worked with us to make sure that a replacement set we liked would work. And we understand that he had to source the mahogany himself when his normal supplier was out. On the day of install, he demoed the existing casing and installed the door perfectly. When that required cutting off some small pieces of the baseboard trim, he went to the hardware store to find and install replacements. He also picked up and installed a door stopper too. We think the final project looks amazing, and will be even more so once the trim is painted and stained (Graham doesn't do painting). We couldn't be happier that we trusted Graham to handle this carpentry work. He has a firm grasp of details and a great aesthetic design sense. Our project also came in on budget and was done a lot sooner than we had originally thought. He will definitely now be our first call if we ever need additional carpentry projects done! read more
