And the best thing -- it was at an affordably fair price! The second project was shingle installation on the house and the garage. It was scheduled to meet our personal needs and was completed in only one day. Personal attention to each of these projects was given by the owner, Bryce Bishop. You just don't find many companies with personalized service anymore. Bryce communicated thoroughly regarding both projects. The first project (siding) he did himself. The second project (roofing) - he visited our property to make sure everything was thoroughly cleaned up according to his excellent standards and also to inspect the work that was completed. He even climbed up on the roof personally to inspect that the job was competed to his excellent standards and to make sure we were satisfied with the results and to see if we had any additional questions. Old To Gold was responsive and quick with the quote and although their cost was higher than other companies we talked to, they could get our job done much quicker, which was great as we wanted to get the floors done before we moved everything in. Other companies were quoting us a month out or longer! The job itself was quick and everything went well. There were a few dark spots on the floor that they were able to sand out and finish nicely. We also had them interlace some new planks in a spot where the floors had been removed and never put back. Finally, we also paid them to sink and cover the nailheads that were exposed when we ripped up the carpet. We were able to cut some of the costs by removing the carpet and tack strips ourselves. After they finished the job I did notice a few drips of finish that had hardened on some of our newly painted trim and our side door, which was not a big deal but some might have been more upset about that. Everyone I spoke with at Old To Gold including the manager and the guys who came to our house was professional and polite.

What concerned me most was that Jair had a strong odor that smelled like alcohol throughout the time he was working. Twice I got a text saying that Mike was in a training meeting and the next he was in a luncheon meeting. He never called after his meetings. I tried calling and it rings then voice mail. I was trying to go through the roofs for vets program. I am a vet and I am disabled. My roof is leaking and is in need of repairs. To this day I have never even talked to Mike, just failed texts and voice mail.

Mike first came to our house in…read moreMarch/April of 2023 to give us a quote, before he left from that visit, he had us sign what we thought was the estimate. As soon as he left, we had decided we were not going to use Mike because his quote was by far the most expensive of all of the ones we had received thus far. Turns out we had signed a contract to get our roof done with Green Built. We had no idea that this was what happened and were still getting quotes from other companies when Mike called and let us know that our house was on the schedule for the next day. We had not secured financing, picked out a shingle line, shingle color or anything else. We were completely blindsided. His crew arrived the next day to start work and at the end of the day, our roof still wasn't finished, which wasn't a problem, however, one of his employees showed up to try and sign the certificate of completion saying we were happy with job, before the job was even done. My husband and I proceeded to send him on his way and told him to actually wait until our roof was finished. We get home from work the next day to see the roof "finished" by their standards. There were nails and trash shoved down our gutter downspouts, nails everywhere in our yard and driveway, and most of our screens were ripped. We had asked them to be extra cautious about the nails because we have 2 kids and a golden retriever. They had damaged the spindles on our porch with the dump trailer, but those were fixed very quickly. In the summer of 2024, we realized that our entryway was getting really warm and didn't seem to be properly ventilating. It was at this point we realized they never installed the ridge vent on this portion of our roof. My husband called Mike to get this fixed, and it took over a month to finally get someone out to our house. This brings us to this year, March 15, 2026 and all the rain we got here in Michigan. One night during a rainstorm, we noticed there was a drip in our basement. Our roof is less than 3 years old and we have water coming in and damaging other parts of our house. We called Mike the day after to come and see what was going on. He has come up with every excuse under the sun as to how it cannot be our roof, deciding it was coming from our bathroom above where the water was found in our basement. This didn't sit right with my construction worker husband and when he got home from work on March 16, he decided to go up into our attic. At this point, we realized one of our roof trusses was completely saturated with water. He took pictures to send to Mike and we were told that it looked like fire damage. There has never been a fire in our house, we purchased it from the original owners so we would have known, it's water damage. As of today, April 23, 2026 our roof has still not been repaired, Mike is ghosting us via text messages, and we now have water damage to the drywall in our bathroom, making this an even bigger issue. We would NOT recommend Green Built Roofing or Mike in any capacity to anyone based on our experience. It is at the point, we are contacting other roofing companies to have the leak addressed on our supposed 50 year warranty roof or looking into filing a home insurance claim with the extent of the damage and potential for mold growth in our home.
