We had to have our basement completely redone after a pipe burst. It was a horrible situation and we couldn't wait to have our space back but we still don't because the quality at the end of the project has us now fixing things ourselves. When we hired him, we also wanted to add two custom built in's, along with fixing our basement back to original. Both of these custom built in's were very low quality. Many things in our basement are not level, plum, or square. One built-in is so un level and out of square that it is now unusable. I believe he tried, He just doesn't have the experience or is at the quality level for doing custom work for home interior. He does contract out for some projects and the company who he hired to do the drywall and paint were amazing so we were very thankful for that. He was aware of our concerns and offered to try and fix things, but due to multiple times through out the project of pointing out similar concerns we are just at the point now we will fix it ourselves. Overall the majority of our basement is OK, but we are definitely not in love with the fishised results.

We were amazed at how clean the job site was on a daily basis. It was truly a pleasure to work with John. He offered his opinion but deferred to our preferences and worked to find ways to make our project less expensive. In fact, even though we ended up ordering new cabinets for the desk rather than re-using existing cabinets (because it looked much better) and he did some additional work, the job came in less than he estimated - the first time we've ever had that happen! John was great at keeping us updated on when materials would arrive and allow him to start, and accurate with his estimates. He worked around our schedule and cleaned up at the end of every evening, always making sure that things were safe for our three-year-old and pets. He did several extra small things at the end, such as rewiring some switches in the hall for us, and did them at no charge. John worked very quickly and his work is fantastic - very high quality. You can't even tell that the project was a remodel; it looks like it was always here - which is exactly what we wanted. I can't recommend him highly enough. We will definitely be using him again!

The projects were done right, and I could tell they cared about quality. Were also transparent about what they were doing, why, and how much it'd all cost up front which I appreciated compared to other contractors I've worked with in the past that were vague/shady. Preston knew what had to be done, and he told me he would be able to make the necessary repairs quickly since he had another project he was working on nearby. The repairs ended up being more work than he anticipated due to unforeseen conditions, but he did what was necessary and quickly like he said he would. In addition, Preston was very professional and pleasant to work with. I will use Simon Construction for other construction projects in the future, and would recommend them to anyone.
