Let's start out at the beginning. I set up a time to have them come out and they never showed up. I called numerous times, left a lot of messages. Twice I got a text saying that Mike was in a training meeting and the next he was in a luncheon meeting. He never called after his meetings. I tried calling and it rings then voice mail. I was trying to go through the roofs for vets program. I am a vet and I am disabled. My roof is leaking and is in need of repairs. To this day I have never even talked to Mike, just failed texts and voice mail. read more

Our entire experience with this company has been a nightmare. Mike first came to our house in March/April of 2023 to give us a quote, before he left from that visit, he had us sign what we thought was the estimate. As soon as he left, we had decided we were not going to use Mike because his quote was by far the most expensive of all of the ones we had received thus far. Turns out we had signed a contract to get our roof done with Green Built. We had no idea that this was what happened and were still getting quotes from other companies when Mike called and let us know that our house was on the schedule for the next day. We had not secured financing, picked out a shingle line, shingle color or anything else. We were completely blindsided. His crew arrived the next day to start work and at the end of the day, our roof still wasn't finished, which wasn't a problem, however, one of his employees showed up to try and sign the certificate of completion saying we were happy with job, before the job was even done. My husband and I proceeded to send him on his way and told him to actually wait until our roof was finished. We get home from work the next day to see the roof "finished" by their standards. There were nails and trash shoved down our gutter downspouts, nails everywhere in our yard and driveway, and most of our screens were ripped. We had asked them to be extra cautious about the nails because we have 2 kids and a golden retriever. They had damaged the spindles on our porch with the dump trailer, but those were fixed very quickly. In the summer of 2024, we realized that our entryway was getting really warm and didn't seem to be properly ventilating. It was at this point we realized they never installed the ridge vent on this portion of our roof. My husband called Mike to get this fixed, and it took over a month to finally get someone out to our house. This brings us to this year, March 15, 2026 and all the rain we got here in Michigan. One night during a rainstorm, we noticed there was a drip in our basement. Our roof is less than 3 years old and we have water coming in and damaging other parts of our house. We called Mike the day after to come and see what was going on. He has come up with every excuse under the sun as to how it cannot be our roof, deciding it was coming from our bathroom above where the water was found in our basement. This didn't sit right with my construction worker husband and when he got home from work on March 16, he decided to go up into our attic. At this point, we realized one of our roof trusses was completely saturated with water. He took pictures to send to Mike and we were told that it looked like fire damage. There has never been a fire in our house, we purchased it from the original owners so we would have known, it's water damage. As of today, April 23, 2026 our roof has still not been repaired, Mike is ghosting us via text messages, and we now have water damage to the drywall in our bathroom, making this an even bigger issue. We would NOT recommend Green Built Roofing or Mike in any capacity to anyone based on our experience. It is at the point, we are contacting other roofing companies to have the leak addressed on our supposed 50 year warranty roof or looking into filing a home insurance claim with the extent of the damage and potential for mold growth in our home. read more

This was the worst experience I've ever had with a roofer or any contractor for that matter . The roof failed in year 2, the roof repair consisted of using shorter nails not to code and used shingles on the job resulting in even more leaking. In year 3 when I called to have someone come out I didn't get any response to voice mail messages, emails or texts. You ghosted me and I had a warrantee and guarantee but neither were honored. I have told any and all acquaintances and friends to avoid your company like the plague unless they enjoyed leaking roofs and a non-response from your company. They were GREAT! Three Companies before Green Built Roofing. I'm sure glad that we scheduled one last estimate. We would have overpaid by $15,000 for the same thing. First Estimate $52,000 Second Estimate $46,000. Green Built Roofing came in at just under $30,000. They showed up when they said they would and worked until the project was complete. Green Built Roofing - New Roof & Trusses on My Garage. It was Caving in. - Roofing Near Me - Byron Center, Michigan

Had a roof installed almost 5 years ago, and has been leaking ever since in five different locations. We have attempted to contact the company and owner repeatedly. After months of badgering them, they send someone out (different person every time who has no idea what the last person did) to evaluate and come up with a plan to make the repairs only to ghost us again. And then we start the process all over again. Insurance company won't cover damages caused by the leaks due to "shoddy workmanship" according to inspector, says it falls back on the roofing company to fix it. We've had nothing but problems and the runaround since day one. The owner contacted us a few months ago and said he's sorry, his number has changed, and that's why he "didn't know" we were having problems. He gave me his direct phone number to contact him and promised to promptly fix the issues. When we reached out again to the number he gave me it was in fact not the owner, but a new employee who said that the roof was installed so long ago why are we bothering them, that if we wanted repair work done we would have to pay for it. Warranty company is not honoring the bad install and has also refused to return our correspondence. One of these issues are a skylight they should have replaced at installation but didn't, damaged it, then blamed us that it was not replaced. At installation we told them to replace all the skylights. They replaced all but two for some unknown reason. That still doesn't account for all the other leaks and bad workmanship. We are ready to file in court, but using this review to reach out to Mike the owner once again to see if he will resolve these issues. Mike, are you intentionally taking advantage of the fact my husband is disabled? Why are you giving us the runaround? I see other good reviews, so why are you treating us so badly? We had a whole house remodel done back in 2019 with Green Built. Mike was on time courteous and so was his whole crew. We had a New Roof, 80's brick removed, New Siding, New Windows and a new slider installed with some new gutters on the front. From start to finish the process was smooth. When there was issues we spoke with Mike and he took care of it immediately. I wouldn't let anyone else work on our house remodel because Mike made sense. He wasn't a sales man pushing for a commission he owns the business and he owns up to the name of his business! read more

GBR was in our neighborhood replacing roofs and we decided to talk with them (because we needed a new roof soon). They were so knowledgeable and patiently answered all of my questions. GBR offers a better warranty than anyone else and after seeing them work on a couple of my neighbor's homes, I knew that they were efficient and the team took pride in their work. They ended up taking less than 1.5 days to completely replace our roof and they cleaned the entire area up - we didn't find a single scrap of trash or stray nail, which is super important because we have small kids. The price was very reasonable and honestly, the process was made SO easy that I kept feeling like I was forgetting something. A couple more of my neighbors have used them and from what I hear, everyone is very happy. I 100% recommend GBR. read more

BEWARE! If you are ever looking to have work done on your home, stay as far away from Green Built Roofing LLC as possible. We had them come out to give us an estimate on replacing 2 skylights back in October. Signed the agreement on 10/23, gave them a check for the deposit and were told that the project could be finished before Thanksgiving. Well, Thanksgiving came and went and still nothing had been done. By mid-December we not only didn't have an install date, we were being told that the skylights now had to be custom ordered and they were going to be more expensive. At that point we contacted the office and asked for a refund of our deposit, this was on 12/22/2020. We were told the owner would have to approve since we were outside of the standard 3 day window. I have emailed repeatedly and called. I just keep being told that the owner hasn't approved yet. Apparently, he hasn't been in the office or responded to the Office Manager's emails in almost 6 weeks as it is now 01/26/2021. They will not put me in touch with the owner directly. So at this point, they have essentially stolen our deposit and will not refund it. Can't even tell you how beyond frustrated we are. read more
