The owner is a full-time liar. I had done roofing when I was younger and knew how it should be done. I specified the brand, GAF, and specific products--their highest quality in order to receive their Lifetime Warranty, on the contract. First, he insisted that I pay him in cash to get the quoted price and wanted an $8,000 cash deposit to start. The state requires a few days' reconsideration period before work can start to allow the buyer to cancel the contract if desired. He started ripping off my roof and had materials delivered on the roof before the cancellation period was up. He then told me it could no longer be canceled. I went up on the roof myself and discovered that he was substituting much cheaper materials than on the contract. I asked his workers (independent contractors) about that and they said he does it all the time, because "who is ever going to go up on a roof and check, or even know the difference". I also found them using finish nails and plain staples--neither of which should ever be used on a roof and either of which would void the warranty. I kept insisting that he repair the damage, he changed crews three times, and finally pulled off the job when I called GAF and they said if they found staples holding down the waterproof material under the shingles, as his crew was doing, there would be no warranty at all. Printed in large letters all over the underlayment is: "Use Only Plastic Cap Nails". When I insisted again, repeating GAF's words from the conversation in front of him, he said it was staples or nothing. He then pulled the crew off the job. My house suffered tens of thousands of dollars of damage, fortunately mostly covered by my insurance, from the water damage and other damage from his work and failing to cover the house before a rainstorm the next few days. The supply company retrieved the delivered but uninstalled shingles from the roof. I also learned that he has incurred huge amounts of debt with several roofing supply companies. I found another roofing company that had to remove all of the previous terrible work and replace many of the damaged plywood underlayment panels. It added a lot of expense. He would not return my deposit. When I told him I wanted it back, he filed a contractor's lien against my house for more than the full price of the original contract. USE GREEN BUILT ROOFING, MIKE CHACHULSKI, AT YOUR OWN RISK. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! P.S. They do not recycle shingles as they claim. I followed up with the shingle recycling businesses and they never heard of him. The dumpster with the shingles from our house was taken to a dump. read more

My husband and I just purchased our first home in Benton Harbor after years of saving and renting. We knew when purchasing the older home we would need to put in work before moving in. The house was our dream come true with our growing family and expecting our fourth and final child. After two years of hunting in an extremely fast moving market we couldn't believe we finally got our house to call our own and raise a family. I started my military career in February of 1988 and left service in 1996. In those 8 years, I shared the experience of many to be deployed to desert storm setting my feet in the sand in September of 1990 with the patriot missile battalion. In 1991 I was medvacted from Saudi for back injuries and ended my career in the states. I left Texas and went back to Michigan where I met my wife and started the new life. I've gone threw years and years of tremendous back pain trying to make ends meet. Now that we've been in are house for past 5 yrs, I've lost a thumb do to machine error at work, been fighting with VA for many years for my disability and finally found a representative that got it done and finally started after almost 30 years. With all that being said and time away from work due to accident I found this company that helps out veterans in need on roofs on there homes, because are roof is getting bad. Working with Mike has been an extremely lovely process. They did a complete tear off and reshingle of our roof and everything looks great. Fast forward to about 2 years later and we had some issues after an ice jam.
