We contacted Weatherhead and Son's to get some window's replaced. They told us up front that it would be about 3 months due to all the work they had. This would have put the time frame around late September. In the meantime they demanded the down payment right away and it was paid to them. September came and went and they had not contacted me. I placed several calls and they told me I would have to talk to Jake. After several calls Jake never called. October came and went as I tried contacting them again. It was the same story with the same result. Only when I demanded my down payment back that I got a call. He told me that the new time frame would be within the first two weeks of November. Well...Same story, same results. They are not calling me back and I fear that we are going into winter where the job cannot be done. I am to the point of calling the BBB as well as Kent County if I cannot get my down payment back. This is fraud if they insist on keeping my money for services never rendered. Weatherhead and Sons is one of the best home related companies I have worked with! We have used them for the occasional roof repairs over the years and they are responsive, reasonably priced and don't try to sell you a whole new roof when they come out. We recently had some storm damage that neccesitated a new roof, gutters, etc. They were VERY reasonably priced, ripped off two layers and put on a new roof in one day and clean up was meticulous. I asked this company to replace my 9 windows, as close to as is, as possible. They sent a guy who did not understand replacement windows and the windows that came in were approx two inches too much in depth and had wrong and inconsistent grid designs in my front windows. The measurement error would totally alter my interior window casings, as they cut into them to make room for the thicker depth. The installers told me the truth and the owner said they should not have told me that and they were no longer with him (I had stopped the install after they told me that someone had measured wrong). $8,000 in legal fees, they kept fighting. They would give me back less than 1/2 my deposit and the wrong windows if I would not talk. I lost $15,000 in order to tell you the truth. I decided the truth was more important. I would caution you about dealing with Weatherhead. I expected, from Weatherhead, a great neighborhood experience, but Andy, the owner, would not stand up when an employee made a measurement mistake on an expensive job, nor would he stand up and deal with the crazy grid design inconsistency. He wanted me to just take them, no matter the impact on my window sills or exterior design and home value. The legal fees going through the roof, I dropped it, but did not give up my right to tell you the truth. Be careful, folks! Promised to fix wood trim on house where it was damaged and they replied that it wasn't necessary but would follow through and look at it- never returned. Now we have leaks and also leaks around the chimney where they improperly sealed with caulk . If you saw the fashion they caulked our $1/2 million house, you would be surprised ! Called Weatherhead and sons because our cat was somehow able to get into our attic from outside. Specifically chose this company because reviewers spoke about the contractor checking the attic and being thorough. The employee we had (Ryan) said he could check attic but never did. Said roof looked okay for now. However, I absolutely needed the attic checked as there is no way for cat to get in there unless there is a hole somewhere...and if cat can get in I'm assuming raccoons, bats, squirrels, etc can also get in and do some major destruction. I was not at home during the roof check (husband was) and was relying on contractor to do a complete and thorough check. Husband said Ryan gave pretty vague answers about every question he asked. At the end of the day, I needed the attic checked (I would think you could easily see light coming through any openings in a dark attic) to confirm that my home was not going to become a hotel for wildlife and this was not done. read more

Had a very difficult time dealing with this company and was in no way satisfied. I was attempting to do my own roofing because my family is in difficult times right now and affording a contractor was difficult after looking at their prices. After starting my roof I had a building inspector come down and issue me a fine for not going through all the right paperwork and permits. I had seen the weather heads truck drive by earlier that day and decided to give them a call about doing my roof "The right way"." It was not until after they started work and a ridiculous amount of money that I found out that THEY were likely the ones that actually called the building inspector on my family! So thank you for all the extra stress, money struggles and not even doing a great job on the roof! I will NEVER call these people again! read more
