I've eaten here several times on my way up to Lake Geneva, they're easily one of my favorite breakfast places. Great service and food.

I'll say 4 stars. Everyone in my party seemed happy but I didn't like the fact I was never asked how things where going. I understand busy but you cannot cut corners as a business. I had the skinny omelet which sat just right. The kids had chocolate chip pancakes which they chowed down. The misses had the butcher block omelet since she can eat all day and not gain a pound. The food was good as it always is... The staff today was very poor. At no point did anyone ever come to check on us after our food did come. The one staff was eating at the counter in front of customers. Service was very slow and staff was in the corner chatting with each other. They seem understaffed and the staff that is here today does not seem to care! This was the poorest experience I have ever had here! I hope it an isolated experience!! 2 stars only today.... Just stopped in on my way to WI. It's a small place but it's very well-decorated and it took me by surprise how nice it was- the outside is a bit dated. I walked in and was greeted right away by a woman that was quiet but very nice and gave me some off-menu options in case I couldn't find anything I wanted. I ordered French toast and hash browns to go and I only waited about 10 minutes for my order. Best breakfast I had in a while! You can tell it is a different recipe than the usual IHOP or Denny's and it is well worth the stop. read more

First time here and will be the last. Order the meat skillet. Did not come in a skillet. Came on a plate with Two eggs on top. There was maybe Two pieces of bacon chopped up with maybe on piece of ham and less than on sausage for 9.99. Potatoes were very small cold and over cooked. Waiter took our order and never came back to the table until he brought the check. I informed him that I did not enjoy the food and when you advertise a skillet it should come in a skillet. He said they were too expensive. I told him that is false advertising. All he said was that he was sorry. Passed by this place for past 4 months and finally stopped in for breakfast. Greated and seated right away. Food came out quickly. We had omelettes that were excellent. Southwestern omelette was loaded with crumbled Chorizo. Side of sausage and bacon were done perfectly. Waitress came by frequently to top off our coffee. Nice breakfast place. This place is amazing! We stopped here after cutting down our Christmas Tree nearby. Our almost 2 year old went into full blown tantrum mode the second we walked in. One of the waitresses (a mom of twin girls) immediately came up to me and asked if she could help. She held my daughter, walked around the restaurant with her and brought puzzle pieces for all the kids to play with. She even helped cut up my oldest daughter's waffles while I was nursing our newborn. The entire staff was so nonjudgmental and un-phased by our chaos! The food was great, not one of us had anything bad! The coffee was continuously refilled. I wish there were more places like this near our home. This is a nice, small change of pace from your usual greasy breakfast place. We stop here on our way to our annual trip to Richardson's Farm to get our Christmas tree. The service is quick and the coffee is good. Their corned beef hash is homemade and their skillets are great. My eggs are perfectly cooked every time. The portions are enough to fill you up, but not so much that'll make you eat until you're sick. I don't really have anything bad to say about this place. I love the food and the feel of the restaurant - always look forward to coming back. read more

Came here for breakfast with a group on a busy Sunday. We were seated quickly and consistently attended to. Food came out quickly and our waitress was fun to talk with. I ordered a tall (read: 4) stack of pancakes which I could not finish even though they were delicious, and then a side of fluffy hashbrowns that were up there in the best i've had. Great meal all around, quick service, my only complaint is that the place could have been a bit cleaner. read more

This was a very happy find! The corned beef hash was spectacular and the hash brown casserole side was a little out of the ordinary and delicious. We've been going here for years, its always been very good. The owner is available, involved, and kind. I give only 3 stars because the last 2 times we've been there we noticed the portions being much smaller, food not cooked thoroughly, and slower service. Hopefully they can get it back together and keep things going in a positive direction! read more

This is a really nice place for being out in the middle of no-where. They have great early morning hours and were busy, but not crazy crowded. The waitress was helpful & attentive without hovering or disappearing when we needed coffee refills. Prices were reasonable for the quantity of food and everything tasted great. Made for an interesting breakfast first date, something you have to do every once & a while to break up the monotony of coffee & dinner dates. What a great restaurant. Very easy to find and a good location. Went there on a Sunday, very late morning. Didn't have trouble getting a table. Food was amazing. Finally made it here after driving by and never able to stop. I wish I had gone sooner it is so GOOD! Currently is one of my top 3 places for breakfasts! Menu was large, food was plentiful and awesome! Cute small place had to wait the 15 minutes I was told and promised no more. We came in for the first time this morning and we really liked the place! We were greeted right away and sat promptly, luckily though we had a table for all of us because this place was packed!!! Our server Danielle was kind and very sweet to me and my kiddos. She got us our drinks and food orders right away and before I knew it our food was up in 15 minutes! Excellent brunch spot! We were seated right away at the counter which meant we got a preview of everything leaving the kitchen. Our server, Trish, went above and beyond on the customer service - offering suggestions, all the coffee we wanted and even a sample of their signature hash brown casserole. Santa has breakfast here 2 or 3 times a week. Breakfast with Santa in December on a Monday every year. Special treats and visits with Santa if you see him enjoying breakfast throughout the year. read more

There are many others that provide same or better quality with larger portions for less like Grannys on Grass lake road, Grass lake landing and several others. overall pretty spendy for smaller portions and barely above average stuff you could do at home. not worth going out of my way for. service is generally slow and seriously lacks protocol and any sort of professional training. 3 stars was generous but had nice atmosphere. read more

Although it wasn't very busy, we waited entirely too long to be seated, for our drinks, and for our order to be taken. Our waitress seemed to mosey along like she was being put out of HER way. She served pancakes without syrup. Braised eggs instead of poached, without even asking if it was ok or if I'd like to order something else. Apparently they don't make poached eggs, or Boiled eggs!! And this place is supposed to specialize in breakfast food...?! The specials were all items on the regular menu at regular price. My family and I all love Midwest Breakfast Company! It is a welcome change to have a decent restaurant, with decent food in the Spring Grove/Fox Lake area. We had lived in Buffalo Grove and Lake Zurich before moving to Spring Grove for the "country" feel of the area, and had been used to close, wonderful restaurants. It's nice to be able to go out for Breakfast/Brunch again without dreading it. Midwest Breakfast Company is as good as it gets for the area and type of food. It's casual, clean, the staff is terrific and friendly, and the food is quite good. The Batter Bread is amazing. They have TERRIFIC pancakes. Their omelettes are just right and made just how you want them. Their chopped salad is my favorite salad in the area, full of wonderful things like bacon, avocado, tomatoes, cucumbers, and more. The grilled buffalo chicken panini is wonderful, according to my husband. They have fresh fruit, and real vegetables, which is a welcome change from anything else around. The ambiance is cute, sort of a quaint country theme with pigs, chickens and barns. It's relaxed, and enjoyable. The location is very convenient if you're anywhere near the area. Their coffee is quite good! Kid-friendly. The servers are wonderful -- always the same folks, who remember you and your name and what you like. It's a nice, family business with a family-oriented environment. There are little puzzles for the kids to play with. Good mix of tables, booths and bar seating. Newly-built, very clean and well-maintained. Lots of light. They have a drive-thru (not that we've ever used it, but it was funny to see it!) We really like going here.
