Love the staff! They took such good care of me and my grandson! Miss you already! Hurry on down to Texas!

Horrible service! Books came damaged and they wouldn't replace them. Only offered for me to pay shipping to return. Then if I ordered new ones I'd have to pay shipping again! So pay shipping 3 times or keep them. Great options. Stay away. This is common for them. Just look at all the bad reviews.

almost every comic on this wall was bought at midtown lol

A rare find these days as many Comic Stores have not survived the times of Electronic Age. Plus the midtown location is even more a rarity these days. Midtown Comics has been here easily for over fifteen years or more...steps from Grand Central, it's a mecca of Comics and Manga classics. Stocked with collections of hard to find special edition comics to super fun vinyl POP figures. Dozens of action figures from Marvel to Megazord, Dragon Ball to Adventure Time plushies, everything Star Wars, Doctor Who and even my personal favorites, Archie comics and Snoopy!! There's definitely something here for everyone ages 3+. Don't forget Garfield, Calvin and Hobbes, and anything Disney. I was in the hood and swung by during my lunch break to hunt for some Manga and My Hero Academia stuff for my son. Found a few choice items for hubby as well. I'll surprise him for Father's Day. Prices were comparable to Amazon and the Comic Cons or Anime Conventions so I had no issues with that. Plus, I get instant gratification and can buy on the spot! No need to wait for shipping. The store does provide that service by the way if you want to order something that's not in stock. They are happy to do so. It's been ages since I frequented a comic store so it was cool just walking around and looking at stuff. It was also interesting to overhear people chat about new comics or about the latest news in this world of things. The store associate I dealt with was very helpful in showing me the items I was looking for... needless to say, I wanted to buy many things! To save a few bucks, you can download their app and become a member, it's free!

Do you have a bargain bin for little kids to go through? We usually get them for my younger kid at Half Price Books for 25¢ each but their selection is pretty awful.

Thanks for checking in with us, Moses! While we don't have a bargain bin specifically for younger kids, we do have some very low priced back issues at our stores, and also a clearance section that contains books priced at up to 70% off. We hope… Read more

Buying and Selling at Book Off What a cool store. So much to…read moresee. Unfortunately, it is lousy to sell at and expensive to buy at. First, Selling. I brought in three statue items unopened in the original packaging. I checked on ebay for what the items sold for (not asking price but sold price) and it added up to about $600, I lugged the items over there and had to leave them there because they wouldn't get to them right away. The people/kids working there were very nice. I went to have lunch and got the text to return, and they are offering $150. So I picked up the items and turned down the offer. Again, they were very nice, it's just I wasn't willing to accept 25% of the value. I figured at worst it would be 50%. But I am better off getting closer to the actual price on ebay. Now, Buying. Lots of very expensive and exiting things to get, and I didn't have time to price check things so much, but my son is into the Nintendo switch and i spotted a used Marvel VS Capcom game he might like. It was $34.95. But just in case, I pulled up Amazon and looked the game up. A brand new one costs $21.79. So it would have been a terrible idea for me to buy it there. I guess if you are leaving work and need a quick gift, you might stop in and pay too much for an item. If you are in real trouble and don't have time to wait for an Ebay sale, you might consider selling your collectables for 25% the value, this place might come in handy.

Midtown Comics is a staple for a reason. I stopped by recently and they were fully stocked with all…read morethe variant covers for the new Deadpool/Batman crossover. It was great to see them all in one place instead of having to hunt them down online. The cashier was super helpful and made the checkout process quick, even with a decent crowd. PRO TIP... just a heads-up if you use the elevator: I managed to get lost. I think the floors might be mislabeled, or maybe the elevator has a mind of its own, but it dropped me off right in the middle of a restaurant on a different floor. Once I found the actual shop (it's on the 2nd floor, not the 3rd floor), it was all good,. Either way. definitely the best spot in the city for back issues and new releases.

It's something to look into if you've young ones who you wish to inspire some fun reading material. In addition to this particular event I was looking for a couple of items. Midtown Comics near Times Square is located upstairs a narrow Spider-Man emblazoned staircase. This is where you will find all of the current releases along with numerous collected editions, toys and more. Upstairs is their stockpile of back-issues and despite having been to this location on numerous occasions over the last few years I've never managed to make my way upstairs and I must do that on one of my future visits. The interesting thing is that when I've looked for stuff the staff ran upstairs to check on it which saved me the walk up the other stairwell and since the knee feels creaky on these things of late I thank them for their helpfulness. The staff is friendly enough and helpful when you need something but let's face it, this can be a busy place depending on a release or event so the time to wax nostalgic about a myriad of related topics is not always possible. Generally I will frequent the location down on Fulton Street since I am over there more and even do brief YouTube videos on some releases for fun and Channel growth. Overall if you're in Times Square and love or are curious about comic books you can't go wrong here. You can record yourself for social media and share it straight away. You might also want to take a photo of the stairs up to the shop since its got a great Spider-Man illustration on it which I've mentioned and included for your enjoyment.

Playing catch up here. So it was the first Saturday in May which to comic book geeks both far and…read morewide means "Free Comic Book Day" and oddly enough I was completely in the unaware about this comic store only a few hours earlier from my walking into the place. My learning about it was fortuitous as I had just left the famed Forbidden Planet and began talking to a nice family of fellow collectors about the packet of comic books that we had just received as a part of FCBD. We talked about where each of us were heading next and while I said Midtown Comics near Grand Central was my next stop they replied "Montasy Comics" was theirs. A quick Google search found the location and away I went. So the store is quite easy to get too but it might be something that you walk right past once you are in the vicinity since its not on the ground level and is instead upstairs. There is an elevator and stairs but I opted for the elevator. Once inside I immediately loved the layout of the place. There were numerous glass cases of collectible trading cards in the front where the staff usually is and while I am not one for those things they did seem to have an ample supply. Towards the end on opposing sides were racks and racks of new and recent comic books along with a myriad of collected editions and even scores of Funko Pops. If you collect the Pops, you're likely going to find a few that you like at Montasy Comics. The FCBD Stuff was being handed out by one of the staff in the rear of the shop and everything was already in bags to make this an easy free transaction. Sometimes, the free issues are all laid out for folks to pick and choose from but in this case it was not that way. I didn't go through anything and would save that reveal for a fun YouTube video but either way it felt like a decent amount of issues were in the bag and that is always nice to see. Generally with FCBD its nice to also try and make a purchase since while this event is free to customers the shops have to pay for all of the books. I was looking for a copy of "Sister Imperator" from Dark Horse Comics but they had no idea what I was talking about. It's an independent release about a Ghost band connected character but I digress. There was an upstairs but I didn't explore that and also they had a number of tables set up in the center of the store where they hold Magic and I guess Pokemon tournaments along with any other of the popular TCG (trading card games for the newbies). The visit was brief but overall a positive one. I will try to visit them again in the future if I am over there. I saw some complaints about high prices or lack of a refund on something that broke when the purchaser was putting it together and all I can say on that is when something becomes rare based on being limited or hard to get it will be more costly. As far as breakage during assembly, I've often found that it was due to improper practices by friends or even myself. A shop doesn't owe me restitution by my breaking something and that is how it goes. Happy Collecting my Friends

There are a series of special sports rookie cards that are well priced compared to what's posted online. If you're a basketball fan like me, you'll find a good selection like rookie cards of Victor Wembenyama and OG Anunoby There's definitely a following of people who come here and play cards and a relaxed, comfortable setting. Although the shop is small, it is well located in Manhattan offering very competitive pricing.

Your only other option is Midtown Comics which is much better in every way. I've been going here for years though both to get stuff and to walk around, and it's still not bad. However the workers there are very rude a lot of the time. It's kind of been like this ever since I've been there. Like they're either not that willing to be helpful or they are actually straight up rude. After years of going to this place I actually saw a figure I wanted for the first time in one of the glass cases, and decided to grab one. Unfortunately there was a little small sign on the OTHER case that said don't open. After I basically got my figure out one of the employees stopped me. I profusely apologized once I realized my mistake, and still the employee told me around five times not to open even after I stepped away and apologized many times. But still I stood there and apologized for the display (a bunch of boxes). Then he gave me what I wanted (after I already basically did it myself) and then I went to the register. I then said "sorry I've been going here for years but I never got something out of the case before so I didn't know." And then another employee (who by the way was facing the case the whole time) said "It's behind glass for a reason", as if I'm in a museum. I apologized and left. The staff has been rude and entitled before but this has been my worst experience yet. Fun to walk around in, but it's hassle actually going here.
