Midtown Comics is a staple for a reason. I stopped by recently and they were fully stocked with all the variant covers for the new Deadpool/Batman crossover. It was great to see them all in one place instead of having to hunt them down online. The cashier was super helpful and made the checkout process quick, even with a decent crowd. PRO TIP... just a heads-up if you use the elevator: I managed to get lost. I think the floors might be mislabeled, or maybe the elevator has a mind of its own, but it dropped me off right in the middle of a restaurant on a different floor. Once I found the actual shop (it's on the 2nd floor, not the 3rd floor), it was all good,. Either way. definitely the best spot in the city for back issues and new releases. read more

This is slightly older and I apologize for it being lost in draft mode. I am a longtime comic book fan and when I did this narrative it was on what they call "Free Comic Book Day". It's something to look into if you've young ones who you wish to inspire some fun reading material. In addition to this particular event I was looking for a couple of items. Midtown Comics near Times Square is located upstairs a narrow Spider-Man emblazoned staircase. This is where you will find all of the current releases along with numerous collected editions, toys and more. Upstairs is their stockpile of back-issues and despite having been to this location on numerous occasions over the last few years I've never managed to make my way upstairs and I must do that on one of my future visits. The interesting thing is that when I've looked for stuff the staff ran upstairs to check on it which saved me the walk up the other stairwell and since the knee feels creaky on these things of late I thank them for their helpfulness. The staff is friendly enough and helpful when you need something but let's face it, this can be a busy place depending on a release or event so the time to wax nostalgic about a myriad of related topics is not always possible. Generally I will frequent the location down on Fulton Street since I am over there more and even do brief YouTube videos on some releases for fun and Channel growth. Overall if you're in Times Square and love or are curious about comic books you can't go wrong here. You can record yourself for social media and share it straight away. You might also want to take a photo of the stairs up to the shop since its got a great Spider-Man illustration on it which I've mentioned and included for your enjoyment. read more

Super cool comic shop located a short walk away from Times Square. Pretty good selections, I picked up a few new releases. They have some cool posters and decor, especially of the NYC-based superheroes. The first floor is new releases and graphic novels/manga. The second floor is back issues, collectibles, statues, and extra accessories. There were a few other people, but it wasn't that crowded. Line was short, but their system was down/rebooting so I had to wait a bit before they could ring me up. Prices are pretty average compared to other comic book stores. Despite the climb up a steep flight of stairs, that could really only accommodate climbers going up or down one at a time there is a lovely comic shop full of new releases, old comic treasures, and even graphic novel that your younger readers would enjoy. There is another flight of stairs that leads to another room of complex that I did not venture up because at this point in my visit to New York I could barely make it back to the subway station, so I found a spot near the entrance of the store and waited for my son to Peruse , the volumes of comic books on the first level. read more

There was also some manga stuff on one side of the store, but it was mainly comic related. There were also figurines and (I think) collectibles upstairs which were nice to look at, although quite expensive. This place is truly amazing! It's tucked away in a building almost like a super hero in disguise cause unless you look up and actually read the business sign you could very well not notice this place even exists. But i guess that's how comic book hero's role, incognito. I'm not sure if the young generation even appreciates comics like i do but growing up comics were a big deal and readily available at most news stands but today they are hard to find unless you visit a place like Midtown Comics. The selection in the place is literally overwhelming. While walking in felt so nostalgic a true comic aficionado would be in heaven knowing exactly what is before them. For me it was just really cool. I'd love to get into comics again but I'd be missing so many past issues and I'm not looking to pay top dollar just to read Superman issue #1. Truly an amazing store and I hope these types of stores stick around for decades to come because they really are part of history and the contents of the comics are the basis for many of the blockbuster movies we enjoy today. read more

Well-stocked from what I could see. Good variety. Was it anything extraordinary or different from several comic shops I've visited? Not really. No comics here that I can't find elsewhere, with the exception of their exclusive covers. The service was great. Staff was friendly. Didn't feel rushed. So... glad I visited, but I see no reason to set foot here again. At least not this location, with having to get through the jungle of the city to get to it. read more

One morning while I was waiting for the group to get ready, I went for a walk and decided to look for fun things to do and see. I was pleasantly surprised to see the famous Midtown Comics was just a few blocks away, so off I went. Looking up, above the street, you can't miss the giant superhero signs and colorful art beckoning you to come upstairs. This location takes up the second and third floors of the building - look for the entrance as a narrow staircase that opens into roomy floors with large open windows. The main floor has the cashiers and shelves/racks of mostly new comics and graphic novel collections. Some collectibles are here too, but you really have to go upstairs to the third floor for more collectibles, toys, used comics, and apparel. I loved their huge selection, but was a little disappointed they didn't have as much older stuff beyond the one rack of classic toys. Prices here are on par with what you'd expect, mostly cover price and going rates for collectibles. It was super fun just to peruse; this would be a great place to bring older children especially for the statues in glass cases of their favorite characters. Staff was a little cold. I know they have lots of special events, so it might be worth your time seeing what's going on during your visit. read more

Found this comic store during a weekend trip to the city. They seem to have a pretty large selection of comics, however I am not big on comic books. I actually came to see the funkos and figures and was presently surprised. They had a decent selection again, with some I have not seen before and the best part is they were not overpriced like many other places in the city. Funkos started at around $14.00 compared to most places in the city that start funkos at around $20. Overall worth the stop if you are looking for a good comic or funko shop in midtown. read more

The customer service at this store is horrible and they don't give 2 cents worth about their paying customers. I spent to much money purchasing online from this store and they pretty much told me to go blow when there was a recurring problem. Problem started when not just 1 but 3 orders arrived with damage to brand new just released books. I was told that I could return the books for a full refund but that I the paying customer has to cover the shipping. I already paid enough and not going to pay anymore for their mistake for sending out damaged new books. Here is word for word what I received back from this stores support: "As of this moment we have two options. First, we can offer you a 25% credit to your Midtown Balance off the original price paid for these books. Alternatively we can allow you to ship these damaged items back to us. And once we received the items we would issue full credit back to your Midtown Balance for the price of the damaged item. Please note if you choose to send this back we do not cover the cost of return shipping. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause." Buyer beware of this store and buy at your own risk! Long term customer, probably since 1997. However, the shipping is incredibly slow. My order took forever to ship and then it was shipped bulk rate mail and delivery was horrible. I should have probably looked at other shipping options but I just took the default. I never had a problem before and I place an order from a competitor at the same time and I got my order in a few days. I don't think I will order from them again, or recommend to friends. The staff is very polite when attempting to help me solve my problem. However, they have been unable to solve the problem. The problem: receiving printed issues via mail. It may be possible to receive issue number one for example, but there may not be another issue for some time. And, it's almost impossible to receive back issues. So, missing an issue is a big deal. There's no way to know the missing part of the story unless, I locate it elsewhere. read more

I posted some photos of my old favorites. Employees are so friendly. I think they must have PH.D. In Comics. They take their time telling the customers anything and everything they want (or need) to know. I'm the type that asks a lot of questions. They have so much more merchandise then just the actual comic books. You can get anything and everything related to the characters. I always try not to look to hard. I can't afford the temptation. They offer really good discounts when you preorder (35% off), they package their books very securely. If they would ensure their books are in right side up and front side facing out and the bag flaps weren't scrunched and wrinkled they would be absolutely perfect. Great selection. Terrible customer service from snarky employees who refuse to take accountability for their actions while using fake names to assist in them avoiding said accountability. They will withhold orders that they deem valuable and pretend that it's just standard processing time even though I have had other orders paid for a processed within the same day. Reached out twice to their customer service and received no response, when I finally did on my lunch break, I had literally beg them to ship it today even though the order was paid for 3 days ago so I can get the order that is intended as a Mother's Day gift for my daughters mom. (Ordered the Monday before, so 6 days to process and ship from NYC to NJ). Lazy, apathetic business. Response to Owner: No, it was not processed in the 48 hour window. The order was placed and paid for on 5/5/25, my bank statement can prove that. The order was not given a tracking number until 5/9/25. You can count with me as you see that is 96 hours. Double the amount! And it also wasn't even shipped that day. It finally SHIPPED on 5/14/25. An entire WEEK after the order was placed and the payment was processed. Lying to protect liars is unbecoming. Especially when you are trying to lie your way out of the fact I had sent TWO inquiries that did not receive a response (Ticket 351860). I even literally begged one of your employees, who I should have guessed wouldn't be helpful as they had the word 'deny' in their handle, to ship it as it was a gift. I was told then that it would have shipped out in 24 hours and did not. So you got a lot of FACTS about my experience wildly incorrect. Perhaps review these yourself rather than having a subordinate look into them for you and provide you with incorrect information. Truth ain't slander. read more

I ordered a Deadpool/Batman #1 variant along with a bunch of other new comics. The Deadpool/Batman comic arrived with damage to 3 corners and the clear bag was bent and ripped. The staff member who bagged and boarded this comic for shipping was super careless. I sent photos of the damages and the person responding said they do not cover damages from the carrier. I explained that the exterior packaging was totally fine and this was clearly just mishandling by their staff. I asked to have it escalated to a manger. They took a long time to respond and finally someone who called themselves a manager (no name provided) emailed and offered 25% off. I really wanted a replacement but they were not willing and so I asked for a full refund on that comic. I still haven't heard back and no 25% discount applied yet. They really don't seem to care about customer service. I won't order from them again but wanted to share this with others so they know what to expect. Thank you. read more

The experience I had this time around was just as good as the others! Staff always greets you upon arrving and always ready to answer any questions you have! They have a huge selection in store of all types of things from comics, manga to figures and even a decent selection of model kits (Gunpla)!!! I'm a strictly online customer of Midtown Comics due to geographical logistics. I'd had a great run of satisfactory orders in the past, but my last 3 orders had been riddled by damaged comics not even close to the grades labeled. It might be easy to blame the shipper for damaging books in transit, but for the most part Midtown does an adequate job packaging. So, when I look at the books, I see the damages (primarily color breaking spine indentations then impact creased dents into the top or bottom of the spine side that crushes the backing board and has color breaking on the front and/or back. That's where I wished I was in New York to inspect the books at Midtown. So, here's where Midtown has earned the low rating. When contacting customer service, the agent(s) are actually quite nice. This last incident was baffling. I was offered a discount to keep my damaged order or I could return them to Midtown, but at my own shipping expense. From a professional protocol standpoint, it's really odd for the customer to pay for the mistakes of a company. Already being inconvenienced and disappointed by the situation, to then have to go further out of pocket to pay for return shipping (I get it if it's a return/exchange not related to getting the wrong item not ordered or damaged as I experienced) is mind-blowing. It's a business practice that's counter-intuitive to retaining customer loyalty and return business. I'd previously had an issue with an order, handled initially by customer service, but fell to deaf ears in terms of follow-through communication, which I just let die on the vine and ate the costs of the damaged books, moving on, chalking it up to an isolated bad experience with Midtown after a series of really good and reliable mail ordered transactions from the past. So, after these last 2 incidents, I must say I'm disappointed with Midtown Comics MAIL ORDER (online website) business and company policy to have customers pay to return damaged items. I know from reading online social media group posts that Midtown is a huge retailer and does get their fair share of disgruntled customers related to the books being either over-graded or coming in, as mine did, in worst condition than advertised. So, from that standpoint, I can only speak of my experiences which followed suit, and I'd say Midtown might be a better business as a brick and mortar LCS than a reliable online business if you're a comic collector looking for higher grade condition sensitive comics, even new releases... for some reason the damaged books end up being sent out to mail order customers, I think maybe. read more

They only email, no calls, have you send pictures, and then tell you they will refund 25% off the damaged books or I pay to ship the books back for a full refund! You can find merchandise for movies, shows, animes, comics, horror, and more.
