Excellent selection 2 floors of comics toys and collectibles. Located right by Times Square. I make sure I come to this store whenever I'm in the city ( usually 4/5 times a year). The staff is always friendly and very knowledgeable. The prices are great considering they are in the city.

Despite the climb up a steep flight of stairs, that could really only accommodate climbers going up or down one at a time there is a lovely comic shop full of new releases, old comic treasures, and even graphic novel that your younger readers would enjoy. There is another flight of stairs that leads to another room of complex that I did not venture up because at this point in my visit to New York I could barely make it back to the subway station, so I found a spot near the entrance of the store and waited for my son to Peruse , the volumes of comic books on the first level.

Always will have a soft spot for this comic shop. I've spent many of hours years back at this place. Purchasing comics and/or action figures. Huge section of stuff to fill your inner geek. Employees have always been friendly & helpful. Prices are pretty much what you'd expect from a comic book store in the city. Two thumbs all the way up!

If you're into comics I think this is probably a great place to go. We were looking for Yu Gi Oh cards and they only had a small collection.

The legendary Midtown Comics. I've heard about this place for ages. I was really looking forward to the experience. Two floors of comics, graphic novels, collectibles, and more. Well-stocked from what I could see. Good variety. Was it anything extraordinary or different from several comic shops I've visited? Not really. No comics here that I can't find elsewhere, with the exception of their exclusive covers. The service was great. Staff was friendly. Didn't feel rushed. So... glad I visited, but I see no reason to set foot here again. At least not this location, with having to get through the jungle of the city to get to it.

One morning while I was waiting for the group to get ready, I went for a walk and decided to look for fun things to do and see. I was pleasantly surprised to see the famous Midtown Comics was just a few blocks away, so off I went. Looking up, above the street, you can't miss the giant superhero signs and colorful art beckoning you to come upstairs. This location takes up the second and third floors of the building - look for the entrance as a narrow staircase that opens into roomy floors with large open windows. The main floor has the cashiers and shelves/racks of mostly new comics and graphic novel collections. Some collectibles are here too, but you really have to go upstairs to the third floor for more collectibles, toys, used comics, and apparel. I loved their huge selection, but was a little disappointed they didn't have as much older stuff beyond the one rack of classic toys. Prices here are on par with what you'd expect, mostly cover price and going rates for collectibles. It was super fun just to peruse; this would be a great place to bring older children especially for the statues in glass cases of their favorite characters. Staff was a little cold. I know they have lots of special events, so it might be worth your time seeing what's going on during your visit.

Cool comic book store at time square. Narrow stairways to go up but inside is big (2 floors). Big collection with comic books and collectible items.

Found this comic store during a weekend trip to the city. They seem to have a pretty large selection of comics, however I am not big on comic books. I actually came to see the funkos and figures and was presently surprised. They had a decent selection again, with some I have not seen before and the best part is they were not overpriced like many other places in the city. Funkos started at around $14.00 compared to most places in the city that start funkos at around $20. Overall worth the stop if you are looking for a good comic or funko shop in midtown.

Cool place to visit. Not a whole lot of selections but I saw some great comic books. The staff was nice and helpful. Whatever the didn't have they pointed us in the direction of who did. Thanks

The customer service at this store is horrible and they don't give 2 cents worth about their paying customers. I spent to much money purchasing online from this store and they pretty much told me to go blow when there was a recurring problem. Problem started when not just 1 but 3 orders arrived with damage to brand new just released books. I was told that I could return the books for a full refund but that I the paying customer has to cover the shipping. I already paid enough and not going to pay anymore for their mistake for sending out damaged new books. Here is word for word what I received back from this stores support: "As of this moment we have two options. First, we can offer you a 25% credit to your Midtown Balance off the original price paid for these books. Alternatively we can allow you to ship these damaged items back to us. And once we received the items we would issue full credit back to your Midtown Balance for the price of the damaged item. Please note if you choose to send this back we do not cover the cost of return shipping. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause." Buyer beware of this store and buy at your own risk! I will never purchase from this store again!

More than just comics!! Recommended by a friend and was not disappointed! Service was friendly and engaging; everything was labeled and easy to find. Going upstairs was a treat - incredible models for sale that were so detailed and precise that I was actually in awe (for example: take a look at the Joker statue and see who he's FaceTiming on the selfie stick - now that's detail!!). If you're in the neighborhood, worth your time!!

So I should preface my Yelping about Midtown Comics Grand Central by saying that my latest visit…read morewas purely to participate in the annual "Free Comic Book Day" event. For the unschooled in this bit of geeky-awesome, its held on the first Saturday in May and customers can get a pile of specially designated comic books for free it the retailer is participating in it. Some stores give you a hefty stack and others might hand out a single issue of something. The way I've noticed Midtown doing this is they set aside the main and most popular superhero titles and hand them to the interested in a little packet. Now its usually a good idea to purchase something else while you are enjoying a pile of freebies and I generally like to purchase a few issues off the racks. On this particular FCBD I had already visited the downtown Manhattan location and grabbed the milestone #150th issue of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". So back to Midtown GC. Like its companion stores the layout is pretty much the same. You have long racks of the newest and some recent titles and the pricier items are up high and require help from staff. The staff here knows their stuff and will help you find something if you are looking for it which is always nice. In the past I've found myself getting a recommendation as well based on what I had in the purchases. In addition to comics you can find all sorts of action figures, buttons, patches, shirts and comic collecting supplies like boxes, bags and boards. I don't generally get to the GC location and am more prone to visit their Downtown space but if this is the closest location for you there will be a lot of magic for you to discover. They have a nice number of new issues of the popular titles but I will recommend if you collect that you get a pull list started so you don't miss anything that might be more popular than something else. All this being said its fairly safe to say that if you enjoy this particular hobby you will enjoy your visit to Midtown Comics Grand Central and most likely their other locations as well.

I brought in three statue items unopened in the original packaging. I checked on ebay for what the items sold for (not asking price but sold price) and it added up to about $600, I lugged the items over there and had to leave them there because they wouldn't get to them right away. The people/kids working there were very nice. I went to have lunch and got the text to return, and they are offering $150. So I picked up the items and turned down the offer. Again, they were very nice, it's just I wasn't willing to accept 25% of the value. I figured at worst it would be 50%. But I am better off getting closer to the actual price on ebay. Now, Buying. Lots of very expensive and exiting things to get, and I didn't have time to price check things so much, but my son is into the Nintendo switch and i spotted a used Marvel VS Capcom game he might like. It was $34.95. But just in case, I pulled up Amazon and looked the game up. A brand new one costs $21.79. So it would have been a terrible idea for me to buy it there. I guess if you are leaving work and need a quick gift, you might stop in and pay too much for an item. If you are in real trouble and don't have time to wait for an Ebay sale, you might consider selling your collectables for 25% the value, this place might come in handy.

So it was the first Saturday in May which to comic book geeks both far and…read morewide means "Free Comic Book Day" and oddly enough I was completely in the unaware about this comic store only a few hours earlier from my walking into the place. My learning about it was fortuitous as I had just left the famed Forbidden Planet and began talking to a nice family of fellow collectors about the packet of comic books that we had just received as a part of FCBD. We talked about where each of us were heading next and while I said Midtown Comics near Grand Central was my next stop they replied "Montasy Comics" was theirs. A quick Google search found the location and away I went. So the store is quite easy to get too but it might be something that you walk right past once you are in the vicinity since its not on the ground level and is instead upstairs. There is an elevator and stairs but I opted for the elevator. Once inside I immediately loved the layout of the place. There were numerous glass cases of collectible trading cards in the front where the staff usually is and while I am not one for those things they did seem to have an ample supply. Towards the end on opposing sides were racks and racks of new and recent comic books along with a myriad of collected editions and even scores of Funko Pops. If you collect the Pops, you're likely going to find a few that you like at Montasy Comics. The FCBD Stuff was being handed out by one of the staff in the rear of the shop and everything was already in bags to make this an easy free transaction. Sometimes, the free issues are all laid out for folks to pick and choose from but in this case it was not that way. I didn't go through anything and would save that reveal for a fun YouTube video but either way it felt like a decent amount of issues were in the bag and that is always nice to see. Generally with FCBD its nice to also try and make a purchase since while this event is free to customers the shops have to pay for all of the books. I was looking for a copy of "Sister Imperator" from Dark Horse Comics but they had no idea what I was talking about. It's an independent release about a Ghost band connected character but I digress. There was an upstairs but I didn't explore that and also they had a number of tables set up in the center of the store where they hold Magic and I guess Pokemon tournaments along with any other of the popular TCG (trading card games for the newbies). The visit was brief but overall a positive one. I will try to visit them again in the future if I am over there. I saw some complaints about high prices or lack of a refund on something that broke when the purchaser was putting it together and all I can say on that is when something becomes rare based on being limited or hard to get it will be more costly. As far as breakage during assembly, I've often found that it was due to improper practices by friends or even myself. A shop doesn't owe me restitution by my breaking something and that is how it goes. Happy Collecting my Friends

Your only other option is Midtown Comics which is much better in every way. I've been going here for years though both to get stuff and to walk around, and it's still not bad. However the workers there are very rude a lot of the time. It's kind of been like this ever since I've been there. Like they're either not that willing to be helpful or they are actually straight up rude. After years of going to this place I actually saw a figure I wanted for the first time in one of the glass cases, and decided to grab one. Unfortunately there was a little small sign on the OTHER case that said don't open. After I basically got my figure out one of the employees stopped me. I profusely apologized once I realized my mistake, and still the employee told me around five times not to open even after I stepped away and apologized many times. But still I stood there and apologized for the display (a bunch of boxes). Then he gave me what I wanted (after I already basically did it myself) and then I went to the register. I then said "sorry I've been going here for years but I never got something out of the case before so I didn't know." And then another employee (who by the way was facing the case the whole time) said "It's behind glass for a reason", as if I'm in a museum. I apologized and left. The staff has been rude and entitled before but this has been my worst experience yet. Fun to walk around in, but it's hassle actually going here.
