Movers were enroute and we were happy to have found one that was available, albeit outside unit - Smart Stop Self Storage on Preserve Ln, off Immokalee in North Naples. At the time in securing a unit, the store manager (to our recent horror) "neglected" to mention they had a serious rodent problem. Last month we were finally moving out of storage, the movers picked up a box and a "huge" rat ran out of the box. Needless to say for health and safety, the movers stopped the job, shut the door and left. I located the day manager who confirmed they knew of the problem. I asked why were we not informed at the time of renting the space. No answer. She referred me to the District Manager who, upon speaking with, cavalierly said "we didn't take out rodent insurance which was in the lease agreement so it was our problem". Moreover, we later read in the reams of papers we had to sign (like when buying a home or car) in small print the mention of rodent and pests. Again, unbeknownst to their rat problem and with NO mention of it prior to signing, my husband signed never realizing he was initialing waiving the insurance. I explained we paid two years of storage fees and our movers were unable to move us out and asked to have a discount. The blatant answer again, it was our problem, not theirs. After telling him it's an unconscionable practice to mislead by neglecting to inform of possible health and destructive hazards to get business, I would be 'Yelping' to alert the public of this health hazard, not to mention most of our goods had to be destroyed. His response: Go ahead!!!! Fortunately we found movers that would move us out under the horrible rat circumstances. And yes, as they picked up boxes one large rat and another small ran out and this was after putting down rat poison prior to in hopes to have made it safer for the movers.

Door code was always a problem either way the app, and it's difficult to get customer help for anything. If you must use them, try negotiating your whole contract upfront. Good luck. I was on the 3rd floor with a 10 x 20 and kept my 5 x 10 which was right around the corner. I got out of the 10 x 20 when moving to my new home. The price almost doubled in the one year. That is modus operandi for most all Storage Units so be ready or pay up.

THIS IS FRAUD! I arrived today 7/31/22 to move my items out of my storage unit and my access code didn't work. I was on the phone for over an hour with 3 different reps while waiting 2 hours outside in the hot sun WITH movers who were being paid by the hour! (You owe me for their time.) One rep gave me an "Emergency Use Only" code but it didn't work. The 3rd rep agreed that my rent was paid through the end of July and that my access code should work. BUT since I haven't prepaid for August, the property manager disabled my code and she wanted me to "come to the office tomorrow and she will help me." It does not matter if I have/haven't prepaid for August or if I have/haven't given a "written" notice to vacate. MY RENT IS PAID THROUGH THE END OF JULY AND I SHOULD HAVE ACCESS THROUGH THE END OF JULY! My contract clearly states that I will have access to my belongings and IF rent is not paid within 5 days of the due date then she can deny access. While waiting for help, a guy came out of the building. I asked if he was with the property manager. He said no. I asked him to let me in. He said he left the door cracked. Seems weird that he was in there for 2 hours - this is SW Florida in the middle of the summer and these are not climate controlled...but he wasn't. I discovered the back doors are UNLOCKED...they don't even have a lock on the handles!!! The conditions of this facility are nothing like represented on their social media pages. Also, I have a video showing that I left a clean unit so don't even try to charge for cleaning or damages.

I have documents proving each call to customer care weekly with no resolution. Chris the regional manager NEVER called me at my request. I knew that my belongings could not continue to be stored in these hot conditions, therefore Ibhad to hire a moving company on 9/5/23 to remove my belongings and I want you to look at how my belongings were destroyed as they were left in a non climate controlled unit due to the AC NOT FUNCTIONING for 6 weeks. Dead rats, cockroachs, mold.....just discussing. For over 5 weeks I pleaded with storage sense to get the issue resolved before my things were ruined and NO ONE HELPED ME. Reed's provided my high-rise condominium with their Certificate Of Insurance . I was contacted by the crew 10 minutes prior to their arrival to let me know that they were on their way. Raz and Calvin arrived promptly at 8 am . They securely wrapped all my furniture and kyak and transported them to our new condo in a timely manner. We were extremely pleased with their professionalism and service. I shared with the crew that growing up in Bronx NY my dad worked for a moving company so I know how hard they work on what can be a tiring and difficult job.
