Just to put into context how good the service from Allan Hallenbeck at Midas was yesterday evening, I just started a yelp account for the sole purpose of writing this review. Yesterday around 6:30pm I was in need of an auto shop that could take a look at my car because I had a check engine light on. I just moved from South Louisiana to Irvine for work last week and I didn't know anyone I could take my car to, so I used google to get me to the nearest one. The closest place open was Jiffy Lube, I believe it was. I ask them if they could check out my car and they said that they wouldn't be able to. Then I see a Midas in the the same shopping center. I've never been to a Midas but they were my last chance. I get to the door and find out that they closed at 6pm. I open the door and walk in anyway. To my surprise, the guy behind the counter asks me if he could help me. Then hearing this, Allan, the GM, gets up from whatever he was doing at his desk and comes up front to help. Even though it was 45 mins after they were closed, they took a look at my car and figured out the problem. Allan then explained what the issue was. While we talking, I felt like we had been friends for 20 years instead of having been a stranger who walked in his shop 45 minutes after closing time. To my relief, though, there wasn't anything seriously wrong with my car. In conclusion, because of Allan's professionalism and exceptional customer service, he earned a loyal customer for life. read more

I heard noises coming the brakes. Alan, the manager, checked them out and explained the cause of the noise and assured me that all was fine. He didn't charge me and told me the future cost of changing out my brake pads. He threw in a tire rotation which was truly appreciated. Go there with confidence. 1) Had to wait a while to get the work done, but what do you expect the day before Thanksgiving? 2) Allen, the owner, my first impression was this guy is a sleazy car salesman. Couldn't have been more wrong! He genuinely is concerned about his customers. It was unfortunate but he had to let one of his employees go that morning for failing to do a safety check which ended up causing a bigger problem than before. Allen took care of that customer and ate the repair bill without trying to pressure the lady to pay anything. My fiance took her truck in for some brake work. Allen thought it was my truck and proceeded to talk to me about the brake system. When I stopped him to inform him that it was my fiance's truck, he diverted all his attention to her. He explained everything in a non-technical manner and answered all her questions. I was so comfortable with how he was treating her I stepped out and let them talk. Not too many places one can go and trust their woman won't be taken advantage of. 3) Henry, the manager, has great customer skill. I watched him help a guy who came in to buy a headlight. One headlight. I am sure a majority of staff would have told this guy they don't sell headlights, then ignore him. (It's a service station, not a parts distributor). Henry stopped what he was doing, (did I mention it was the day before Thanksgiving) and looked for a spare headlight. No avail. Then he asked his crew where was the local auto parts store and they relayed the info to the guy. Just a class act. 4) Finally, Tim. This guy knocked out the brake job in pretty short order once he was able to get to it. Awesome Job! And with today being our first rain day in a long while, I had a relaxed mental attitude knowing the job was done correctly. Great Job all the way around. I would have no worries about sending my fiance or any female relative to Tustin Midas to have their car looked at. read more

I've been going to midas for my oil changes for the past 5 years. What can I say other then Alan the manager is a sweet heart he always greets me with a smile and goes over and beyond with his service . Everyone at midas is eager to help and go the extra mile. Unfortunately I've been told my car needs more than an oil change and of course I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. They are like my brothers from another mother. read more

I called this Midas location for a quote on new brake pads and they were considerably less expensive than where I normally take my car in for repair so I decided to give them a try. What I did not expect when I arrived was how incredibly nice everyone was going to be. I have never been to a auto repair shop that had such friendly staff and were so happy and helpful. I spoke to Henry on the phone when I called and could tell the place was great from my quick conversation with him. While there I also met Allen (who I think is the owner or manager) and he was great, too. I waited for my car to be repaired and spoke to multiple people in the waiting area who confirmed that this was the most honest, reliable place to bring your car for service. I watched the staff greet the customers by name as they arrived and genuinely thank them for their loyalty as they left. Not only are their prices really reasonable but their customer service is amazing. I was blown away. I have never seen any business run this well - especially an auto repair shop. This is now my new auto repair shop where I will be taking my car for all of it's needs and you should too! read more

Allen is Awesome!!!!! :) Allen is the main manager at Midas and he always saves me money and helps me understand what's wrong with my car. I only trust him and the Midas team, they are excellent & they are SUPER fast! They have the best customer service and Allen always makes you feel at home. I always have a good time at Midas, I never get bored waiting for my car. I REALLY love this place!! :) and I tried a lot of car shops and this is the best one. If you're looking for an honest opinion about your car with honest and excellent prices then this is the place you want to go to. I was at Tustin Midas until after 7:30 pm tonight; and that's a good thing. I came in just after 5:00 pm with my brakes squeaking and spongee. Even though they close at 6:00 pm, they said they would get to my car today. Quickly, they had my sweet ride on the rack with the wheels off. The diagnosis was new pads and rotors. The price quoted was reasonable. I'd expected I'd need this work done as it had been a couple of years. Just after 7:00 pm, David comes over and tells me they are almost done, but they noticed, upon inspection, one of the rotors had a tiny potential defect in it. David said he didn't feel comfortable putting it on since I'd told him this was the car my pregnant wife drives most of the time. He asked if I could wait another 30 minutes while he sent one of his guys to pick up a new rotor so they could install it rather than take a chance on installing a bad part. I said, "no problem, thanks for getting it right". I drove my chariot home with the windows rolled down enjoying the sweet smell of a summer evening, listening to Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters on XM Lithium with no worries of squeaky brakes ruining my vibe. The techs here have never disappointed me. If I need an oil change it doesn't end up costing me $300. They just replaced a water pump and timing belt that wasn't done correctly three years ago. My car has 260,000 plus miles in part because of the care I receive here. Allen, the owner, treats repeat customers really well and I've seen him treat first timers the same way. I generally have a strong distrust of mechanics but I will definitely be coming back to this Midas! I came in for the first time to get my car inspected for a long road trip and to get the brakes checked since they've been squealing. They brought me out into the garage to show me my brakes and explain everything to me. They were upfront and honest saying it would be safe enough to not have any work done to the brakes and I could drive another 5,000 miles with my current pads (but there would still be squeaking). I could have left without paying a dime (that doesn't happen often at mechanics) but I decided to go ahead and get my back brakes adjusted/cleaned and get new front brake pads so I would be confident in driving through the snow on my road trip. I was in and out before my lunch break was over. They ended up giving me a discount (since they knew I was on a budget), a free oil change for my next visit, and most importantly they gave me peace of mind. read more

I recently moved to California and prior to that was bringing my Mercedes to a mechanic that specialized in European/German cars. Upon reading the Yelp reviews i took a chance and came to this Midas based on the constant claims of their customer service and expertise. I couldn't have been happier with the servicing I have received at this location. I have been here 3 times, the last time being last week when my check engine light went on. I called Marco and he told me to bring it in right then. Instead of the "fearful" run around that many mechanics give you, Marco was straight forward and honest, letting the mechanic see the car right away. It turned out to not be anything major and I was on my merry way. The transparency, honesty, and friendly customer service is why I will continue to bring my car back to this Midas. I recently moved to this area and I'm so relieved to have found a repair shop that is all around awesome. I came here a few days ago for some work on my car and the experience couldn't have been better. The first thing that stands out is that when I got there, the place was slammed and yet they got right to me and did everything to work with my schedule for the day and get my car finished quickly. Allan and the rest of his crew were extremely honest and professional. He took the time to give me a detailed explanation of what was going on with my car and what my options were. They also noticed a separate engine issue that had been I'd been dealing with for a while. At a different repair shop, I was pretty much told "Your car is old, this happens". Allan and crew took care of that too and now my car's running like a champ. With all the work I needed I actually got out of there at a very reasonable price, way better than what I estimated in my head. Overall, best experience I've had at a repair shop. I never write reviews. But, Midas has been so good to me, that I had to come on here and give them the praise and credit they deserve. I have been taking my car to Midas for a couple of years. They truly treat me like family. Last year they replaced my alternator. A year and a month later, that alternator failed again. Not only did they track down the warranty on the alternator so that I didn't have to pay for it, but they also gave me FREE LABOR. They had my car for three days and didn't charge me a dime. I was overwhelmed at their generosity. This isn't the first time they haven't charged me for something. Last year my battery kept dying and we couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. I paid for a new battery and even after that, the battery kept dying. Midas had me bring my car in and they kept it for at least 5 days. They monitored it and finally figured out a relay was staying on and draining my battery. They meticulously looked at every possibility and finally figured it out. They replaced the relay, and once again, didn't charge me a dime. They are incredibly honest and I never feel like they do unnecessary work on my car. They tell me problem areas that I might need to pay attention to in the future, but never pressure me into fixing things that don't need to be fixed. I also have to mention how quick they work. They don't waste my time when I come in, and they will also squeeze me in, even if they are busy. I will keep coming back forever. Allan, Marco and David have secured my business for life. RIDICULOUS. I made an appointment at 12pm to schedule to come in at 5pm. I got an email thanking me for my appointment and that I will be contacted in 30 minutes. Now, this email didn't mention a single thing about having to get a confirmation call before arriving, etc. I even got a coupon to use along with my email. So, I wait and since I wasn't getting any call, I showed up to my 5pm appointment. The guy working in the front(cashier area) and behind in the office area were rude and shooting down everything I was telling them. They basically told me I came at too busy of a day and that they couldn't call me because they were too busy. Like is that my fault? I do not care how busy you guys are,,, it's your job to make your customers aware of the situation and let them know beforehand. They had 5 hours to call me to tell me that I shouldn't come in because they were busy (which is totally fine, I could've scheduled to come in at a different day), but instead, chose to have me drive over and then tell me that they couldn't book an appointment on their end after receiving the request because they were too busy. Like c'mon, at least be a little apologetic and not make it sound like it's my fault for booking at a busy day. It's common sense.ll read more

Allan and Tim's service was excellent in fixing my PT Cruiser. They figured out a way to save me money when fixing the cars cracked block and seal!! they also quickly fixed my turn signal which was bad. They surprised me with detailed cleaned and washed the car for us which was so special. Allan and Tim both kept me informed of the jobs and I can't thank them enough. David and Marco know their stuff and never over sell or price gauge. Fair, Reasonable, Professional and above all else Ethical describes the management team. The mechanics always appear duteous and helpful in answering any and all questions on my cars. First time I came here I was able to get the nail out of my tire for $20 and they did it right away! A quick fix! I asked them about noise i heard in my car so I had to make an appointment to come in for the next time so that they would have more time to look at it. However, I did not hear the noise anymore when it was the day of the appointment so I was worried about my car. I explained to them what happened when I came in for my appointment but they were still willing to look at it anyways. After a while the man at the front desk explained that they didn't hear the noise either and was very informative about the possibility of the noise occurring in the first place. After hearing the information I felt very relieved and realized I had nothing to worry about and the workers were still friendly about it. Even though they did not need to work on my car they still took the time to look at it and didn't complain. They pretty much gave me a free inspection! read more

DO not go here if you like your car!!!!! I went here to get an oil change in December the day before i was leaving for vegas. I was the only car there so i thought what could go wrong!!!! The next morning i start my drive and I'm almost half way to vegas when i get a phone call from the manager saying please call me back its URGENT!! So of course i call right back and he says where are you? Can you come in? I say no I'm half way to vegas why?? He says oh well you should probably pull over and check your oil our tech said he forgot to put oil in your car!!! WTF are you kidding!! So what did they do for that hour and a half that they had my car. So i pulled over at the next exit. Luckily there was a jiffy lube. They checked my oil and there was nothing in it!!!! Then i called them back to see what they were going to do for me. They said oh we will reimburse you for the new oil change or you can have 2 free oil changes here. LOL are you kidding why would i go back there. So then i had to fight with them for weeks to actually get the money back. read more

This particular Midas is terrible. I can't speak for other stores, but we went in for new struts and a radiator flush. We had to replace the struts a year later and now we're replacing our radiator because of the sludge left inside from NEVER having had a flush. Don't bother with the warranties or coupons. It's not worth it. Our car came back from Midas with a fresh smoke smell, too. We didn't realize at the time that the smell was the best part of the service. read more

I went in there today on my lunch break to get one of my brake lights replaced since it was near my work and was pleasantly surprised. The gentleman that helped me was super friendly and not only did they fix my brake light in less than 10 minutes but they didn't charge me a dime for it! I went to this Midas Shop as it is close to my office. I needed the AC system checked in my 2002 Toyota Highlander. The Manager, Alan, was very friendly and informative. I was quoted a fair price and he promised to have the car checked right away. They drained and recharged the system and injected a leak dye. Best of all, they did not charge me for the freon which was already in the system and had to be drained.Ii will be returning to see if there is evidence of a leak and to have an oil change. Very happy with the service; I was in and out of the shop within an hour. read more

This place is a complete rip off and a scam. I called in advance asking to get an approximate quote over the phone about replacing my front breaks. They quoted me $300 over the phone. So I drove down there. When I got there they said it was going to be $20 just to look at it. Even though the person on the phone (who sounded exactly like the person I was dealing with in person) said there is no inspection fee. Right away they seemed sketchy. I think they were desperate because I was the only car there. They were dead. I think car shops are the shadiest places to begin with. But clearly with this bad economy everyone is looking to make a dollar even if they have to rip off customers. Screw this place!!!! read more
