An update to my review. There was a problem with my 230k mile Honda CRV year 2007. It started around March 2022. The engine light turned on and I paid over $600 for continuous repairs and coming back for more visits after their initial suggestions didn't work. Over more than 1 year, they kept recommending me repairs and the issue never got resolved. one that would have cost me $700, and it I went to somewhere else to get it replaced. When the engine light still didn't turn on, I went back and they offered me that same repair and they were shocked when they discovered I paid someone else to do it. Maybe they were expecting me to pay them? I paid to do more tests from them and ended up having to just buy a new car. I'm changing this review mainly because I feel like the were a lot of unnecessary recommendations for repairs that "may be contributing to the problem" with no solutions. However the most recent experiences I have had at a local dealership were very disappointing and so I started to look around for another source for my vehicles. Several neighbors suggested Irvine Auto Care and I tried them out. I highly recommend them. They are a game changer. They do a full inspection with video.Send it to your phone with a link.You view what they are seeing and what they are suggesting. They break down the work to be done as very important to get done now, as well as suggested timelines for whatever work you want to put off for a little while for your budget or time constraints. If you bring in a work order from your regular place and ask them to do the inspection they will do it and compare what they suggest versus whatever your dealership might be trying to oversell. They are honest and careful. Respectful and easy to make appointments with. I've had several visits now and now I am a fan! I don't do very many reviews unless it is really bad or really good. **Horrible Experience - Would NOT Recommend!** I decided to try this place out since it's close to home, but what a mistake that turned out to be. It took *a full week* to even get an appointment, which is ridiculous when I usually get in the same day with other places. Once I finally got in, they ran diagnostics on my car, but then hit me with an unexpected charge of *$170*--on top of everything else! They waited until I was in the office to spring this on me. When I haven't been to your shop before and have no idea of the quality of service you provide, this kind of surprise charge feels like nothing but price gouging. They wanted to charge $60 for a new cabin air filter when it costs $15 at AutoZone and took only 10 minutes to change myself. Just need to watch a YouTube video. The prices they quoted for other services seem to be 3x more expensive then other auto shops. I would reccomended getting a second opinion and quotes from other mechanics. read more

Unfortunately my car broke down and I had to get it towed. This was the first place I called because I had a good experience when my car had issues before. John was extremely nice and helpful; he told me they didn't have open slots until 2 days later but allowed to tow my car to the shop. However, by the next morning, they had already looked at my car. He sent over a detailed video explaining where the problems were and what needed to be fixed. I appreciated how comprehensive the list was and how they separated it into issues I urgently needed to address & other things they found that were recommended to be fixed but can do at a later time. I was never pressured into fixing anything and the service was extremely quick. The prices were reasonable and they broke down the charges on the sheet they text over to you. They texted me when my car was done & the pick up process was extremely efficient. I am so grateful for this shop and John. Thanks for all your help & being a reliable car shop. Fantastic! Jake and John did a great job on keeping me posted, sending a detailed video on the vehicle's issues, what to fix and how much it is. Great turnaround as well and the great ratings on other websites are well deserved. In terms of value, parts are expensive, and this is not your uncle Joe tinkering with your vehicle but certified mechanics. I'd say, in terms of the work done, definitely yes. No need to post pictures of my Town & Country minivan but the oil filter housing was cracked, resulting in quite a bit of oil sprayed all over the engine and other components - John found one seized engine mount (the front one) and I wonder why my other usual mechanic did not catch that and lastly the front stabilizer link were worn (ditto). All fixed properly. 10/10 and I found a new place for regular minivan maintenance while neighbor Eddie at Town Garage can continue maintaining my Civic. I got quoted $1700 by a cadillac dealership to handle all my fluids etc at 60000 miles. Felt that was pretty high. Called around, and finally went with these guys, good communication and they explained exactly what they were doing and why. The same job ended up costing me $600 versus $1700. Second time visiting Irvine Auto Care for an oil change and they really take care of their customers. They were able to handle the oil change same day without an appointment. I left my car there for most of the day and picked it up later that afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a text message with a video of my car. In the video, the person gave me a full visual inspection of my car from top to bottom and their recommendations. This was great and a really provided a level of transparency you don't get with any other auto shop. It's hard to find a mechanic that you trust. Just like a good dentist. You never REALLY know what they're seeing under the hood of your car or inside of your mouth, right? I compared labor and replacement costs across the internet and Reddit and got an incredibly fair price. I can't express how grateful I feel towards Irvine Auto Care; they provide transparency and professionalism and don't try to pressure to have your car fixed by them. If anything, they strongly encourage you to price compare their services to other plam aces. I am genuinely delighted with this place, and I give a big thanks to John, who even gave me a 25$ discount when I told him about my situation as a college student struggling to pay rent. As a young female who owns an older model Jeep I am no stranger to breakdowns and could easily be a target for over working, over charging, being taken advantage of etc as I know nothing about cars and repair. Because I love my old Jeep so much I often very blindly trust the guidance of professionals and will pay and do anything to maintain her properly. And in that same moment- blindly trust strangers to not take advantage of me. I must say as stressful as having your car break down is, Adrien & John made the entire ordeal feel way less chaotic and overwhelming. I had never been to Irvine Auto care so as I pulled in I wasn't aware services need to scheduled a head of time (which is a great sign they're so busy). Adrien greeted me with a huge smile, informed me they can't normally take walk ins (again such a great sign so many use them) but he dropped was he was doing to try to help me His nearly immediately saw what the problem could be, tightened up some bolts and sent me on my way. He wasn't certain he fixed the problem, but wanted to give it a try so I could go about my day. He gave me his card and encouraged me to call if I need anything. Fast forward to later that day, a similar problem surfaced leaving me broken down again. I was able to get it to start so I could rush back over. John the shops manager immediately helped me even though we were nearing their closing hours. He promised my Jeep would be assessed asap. This is a busy business and you should call to get an appointment to get services done. I needed my brakes checked and serviced. I called and spoke to the owner John right before closing and lucked out and got an appointment the following morning due to a cancellation. The shop is only open half day on Saturday and closed Sunday and I was very grateful to get an immediate appointment on a weekend. I dropped off the car and John took all the necessary information from me and told me I will be getting a call once he was able to check out my brakes. I received a very detailed text which showed a video of the the issues of the car and his recommendations. Then I received an estimate and prices broken down to necessary and optional work. It was very detailed and impressive. Once I approved the work, I just had to click on the accept work order button. The process was very easy. This shop is totally ridiculous and untrustworthy!!! We went there for a regular service last December for oil change and they left a rag cloth in the engine area and we caught a fire in January! How could you believe that could happen during such a regular work process? And they didn't even want to recognize it even we have strong evidence!!!
