Came in a week ago with a transmission code for the transmission range switch. Swapped it out and code was still there. Left it with Arturo for a day and there was a short in the wiring to the switch and fixed the code. Didn't charge me for the short. I was looking for a place to install a Miller Cat Shield on my Prius. The Millercat shield website lists Costa Mesa Transmission as an authorized installer. I called a different authorized installer and they wanted 50% more than what I paid here. It's a family run business and everyone is friendly. Instead of shooing me away from their garage or asking me to wait in the office, the tech invited me to watch and didn't have a problem with it at all. He even made sure that when he raised my car that my roof racks would not be damaged. The service was quick and affordable but most importantly, honest. I was told a price on the phone, I came somewhat expecting something to "go wrong" and needing to pay more but that didn't happen. I came in, watched my car get worked on, and was even invited to see what was done. Good and Honest work is what does it for me. The price was the topping on the cake. read more

I paid to have daughters Transmission rebuilt. Did it quick (a couple days) and great guarantee. Never met the owner but he clearly runs a great shop. I was concerned at first but the estimate had hard parts on it. Many shops hit you later with stuff like that. Asked her to come back after 15 days for a quick checkup. Another plus. I definitely feel like I got my moneys worth. A rebuild isn't cheap. He seemed pretty patient with her also. I was trying to make this a learning experience on dealing with repair shops. I have a weight model Toyota Sequoia and was interested in replacing all of the oils in the drive system to include transfer case and rear end with a quality synthetic oil to help prolong the life of the vehicle. After reaching out to the Toyota dealership who would not install anything but their own fluids and calling several other mechanics I ran across Costa Mesa transmission . What I love about the shop is the minute you walk in you realize these guys are real car enthusiasts. There is everything from late model foreign cars to early American hot rods in the shop and you can definitely tell that they take pride in their work. I explained what I wanted to have done, got a quote and scheduled an appointment for a couple of days later. After dropping the car off they called me earlier than anticipated let me know the car was done and everything was good . I took my Prius to install cat shield there. It took about 2 hours, after i left noticed some rattle underneath the car, i called Arturo about it, he explained to me that the shield i bought did not come with rivets that could put the shield a little away from the catalytic converter and thus minimize contact on vibration, however he asked me to bring the car back and check what they could do to lower rattling. They had to work around by slightly bending the shield. After I drove off i notice no more rattle!! Happy with result and hope this can deter the thieves!! I had my Buick towed in for transmission repair. They were very nice, knowledgeable and the price was really fair comparing to other shops I called before. I also got a better warranty from them than from the other places for a lower price. The axles on my car were also broken and they added the parts with no extra labor charge and a huge discount on the axles, because when I called around, I couldn't find anyone even close to that price they quoted me on those axle parts. And they warrantied those as well along with the transmission. They finished the job in less than a week. They were more honest than I've ever seen. I have a hard time believing that they would ever screw someone over. I just think it's just not in their blood. That is just my opinion. read more
