I'm neurodivergent and sometimes take things more literally, so I was just trying to confirm whether I was being charged for something that is often free. Instead of explaining, I felt mocked for asking a simple question. Because of this experience, I no longer feel comfortable or confident returning here. My local mechanic told me my motor is toast and needs the motor rebuilt which will cost minimum $4500! So I decided to call Mesa Wesr again and talked to the owner Norm and told him about the issue with my motor. He was very friendly and scheduled a service for my bus so they can diagnose the problem. After being in his garage a few days he called me and told me all I needed was for the heads to be retorqued, valves adjusted and carburetor cleaned and my motor is good to go. My total cost was less than $500 and bus never drove so smoothly and powerful! I can't say enough about this honest shop and their entire crew who are all very friendly and very knowledgeable. I don't write reviews but felt compelled to share my experience this time. Thanks Norm and your entire staff! The wait and drive to your shop is well worth it. When Brent heard the description his first thought was probably a computer problem, not a transmission issue. He was right! He not only diagnosed it correctly, he worked with Toyota to get an OEM computer. Toyota allocates these sparingly (to keep 3rd parties from price-gouging) and he actually had to write them to obtain one. He installed it and did a full transmission service - all at a great price I got the car back and its as good as new! Thanks to Terri for organizing and scheduling everything and Brent for his expert analysis and work.

I've waited until my rebuilt transmission reached 1,000 miles before commenting; it is working perfectly. The trans for my 26-year-old 1993 Toyota Extracab 4 cyl 4WD pickup began whining after 460,000 miles. My local Toyota dealer (South Coast Toyota) said that OEM parts were no longer available, so they could not rebuild it. They said that a dedicated transmission shop could use aftermarket parts that the dealer couldn't, and recommended Costa Mesa Transmission. Another option was to install a mail-order rebuilt trans, but if that went wrong, recourse would be difficult. This is not to say that CM Transmission didn't have difficulty; the first TWO gear sets from one gear manufacturer whined, but the third set of gears ordered from a different gear manufacturer were quiet after the installation. I now have over 1,200 miles on the rebuild and have had no issues. Thanks to the team at Costa Mesa Transmission for their efforts. We ALL wish that it hadn't taken 3 gear sets to find a set that worked, but in the end, my beloved truck is back in operation. read more

Best transmission shop by far! I kept having problems with my transmission so I went to many different shops that in the end did not fix anything AT ALL. Luckily, I found their shop and they were able to fix the problem in a short amount of time. My transmission has been working great ever since! I love to travel and see many places so this was super important to me. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is having problems with their transmission or any other car problems I might add. I had my Tahoe transmission rebuilt and a few other things done to it and I must say Arturo is the best. he hasn't ever tried to charge me for something that didn't need fixing. he also does work on my 2021 Corolla. This man has been a blessing. He doesn't let Toyota rip me off haha. very very honest and such a good guy. I'm not sure why some other people have a one star but if I could give 10 I would. The owners were easy to talk to, explained things clearly, and even showed a video of what was wrong. Inspection was $130 + 4% for card, so bring cash if you can. After the inspection, for the repairs I chose to get the front engine mount and brake pads done. I left, came back within 38 minutes, and paid about $700 cash, around $835 total for everything. Pricing felt fair. Shop is in a rough area and the waiting space is basic, but fine. Only thing I didn't like: they didn't show me the old parts or the new ones (motor mount or brake pad boxes). It looked like new work was done, but I'd feel better seeing that upfront. Next time I'll ask. Overall, solid experience. Nice people, fair work, that's what matters. I'd go back.

Turns out the wheel just needed to be taken off and the area cleaned. They did this at no charge! On top of this Dayan was a pleasure to speak to and it's a family run business. 10/10 experience.

The estimate was very reasonable compared to a quote I received from a local Subaru dealership. Because I drive between OC and LA with my two young kids, I mentioned the urgency and he scheduled me the next morning with Mitch. Mitch greeted me, listened to my concerns, explained the repair, gave me a wait time, and even offered a complimentary car wash. I grabbed breakfast nearby and by the time I finished my meal, Mitch called to say the car was ready. He also pointed out a few things from the inspection to keep an eye on, but nothing urgent.
