I came to Arturo for a diagnosis on my transmission after getting several other estimates that were wildly outlandish. Arturo was great! He was informative and knowledgeable! He didn't try to sell me a transmission, or gouge me on another service. Needless to say, I'm glad I ended up here. I'd definitely recommend this shop to anyone! Thanks Arturo! read more

Costa Mesa Transmission - Auto Repair Near Me - Costa Mesa, California

Costa Mesa Transmission was unable to diagnose or repair my vehicle and consistently demonstrated poor communication throughout the process. I paid $333 for two hours of labor for a diagnosis and a relearn procedure that I was told would resolve the issue. At no point was I contacted to authorize any additional work beyond the diagnosis. I was later informed that the vehicle was fixed and paid the invoice, hoping the issue had been resolved. Unfortunately, the problem remained. When I returned, I received conflicting explanations. First, I was told there were no detectable issues. Later, I was told the transmission needed to be replaced. I was also repeatedly told that the repair I suspected would not fix the problem. Even so, I asked them to provide a quote for that repair since a transmission replacement was not financially practical. I was told they would call me with a quote and credit one hour of labor, but I never received a call. After nearly a month of poor communication and an unrepaired vehicle, I decided to purchase the part and perform the repair myself. More than 100 miles later, the vehicle is operating normally. The repair that I was repeatedly told would not solve the issue ended up resolving it completely. I am extremely disappointed with my experience and am out $332 with no resolution provided by the shop. read more

I usually don't leave reviews but this time I had too. Arturo and his team are GREAT! As an out-of-towner, he helped me late in the day and was so informative and non-salesman like. He is a professional and I would highly recommend these guys to anyone. Thank you Arturo. read more

Absolutely recommend this shop for any classic car needs!! They are honest and timely in repairs. 10/10!

Arturo was the best! Did a great job, surprised me with how affordable he was and the time he took to not only explain things but also go through my car and inspect it before handing it over. Will definitely come back and highly recommend this shop!! Extremely trust worthy! Muchas gracias!!! read more

I continue to be amazed by the level of service from Arturo and the team at Costa Mesa Trans. These guys always meet and EXCEED my expectations! From simple to complex they fix the issue. Most recently- I hated what I'll call a "toy car" sound of the factory horn in my 2023 Toyota Corolla- seriously embarrassing- Arturo installed a grown up sounding horn - now I have authority when a Tesla annoys me ! Thank you Costa Mesa Trans. read more

Arturo and his team are top notch! They offer a solid service for a fair price. Extremely knowledgeable.

2 years ago they rebuild my transmission on my dodge van. Recently i had a small leak from the oil pan. It was still under their warranty. I called and arturo Took me in 2 days later and fixed the problem with no charge at the same day. Appreciate the service. read more

I was looking for a place to install a Miller Cat Shield on my Prius. The Millercat shield website lists Costa Mesa Transmission as an authorized installer. I called a different authorized installer and they wanted 50% more than what I paid here. It's a family run business and everyone is friendly. Instead of shooing me away from their garage or asking me to wait in the office, the tech invited me to watch and didn't have a problem with it at all. He even made sure that when he raised my car that my roof racks would not be damaged. The service was quick and affordable but most importantly, honest. I was told a price on the phone, I came somewhat expecting something to "go wrong" and needing to pay more but that didn't happen. I came in, watched my car get worked on, and was even invited to see what was done. Good and Honest work is what does it for me. The price was the topping on the cake. read more

Took my 2013 Honda Accord for transmission service based on great reviews here. Arturo diagnosed the rough shifting on the automatic transmission as may need oil change. That did the trick. Very reasonable prices and friendly service. Highly recommend Costa Mesa Transmission. read more

Came in a week ago with a transmission code for the transmission range switch. Swapped it out and code was still there. Left it with Arturo for a day and there was a short in the wiring to the switch and fixed the code. Didn't charge me for the short. Thank you so much for replacing my Prius light bulb in a timely and friendly manner! Your employee was also very friendly (sorry I forgot to get his name). The lights are working perfect, thanks again for the honest and genuine service! I even asked him if the price was okay (because it was a bit on the low end) and he said no problem. read more

Arturo went over and above taking care of my car. Cost was reasonable considering others around. Referred by a friend they have taken great care of as well. Going to stick with them for the future. read more

Costa Mesa Transmission is my go to auto shop. When my car needed some basic service, the dealer tried to get me to spend thousands of dollars on extra/unnecessary work. I took it to Arturo instead. I messaged him on a Sunday and I had a reply within minutes and an appointment Monday morning. He took the time to answer all of my questions and gave me his honest opinion. I appreciate honesty when it comes to a car shop. He comes across as super friendly and genuine, he's like your local mechanic uncle you wish you had... if you need Transmission service, look no further, just go here. read more

I paid to have daughters Transmission rebuilt. Did it quick (a couple days) and great guarantee. Never met the owner but he clearly runs a great shop. I was concerned at first but the estimate had hard parts on it. Many shops hit you later with stuff like that. Asked her to come back after 15 days for a quick checkup. Another plus. I definitely feel like I got my moneys worth. A rebuild isn't cheap. He seemed pretty patient with her also. I was trying to make this a learning experience on dealing with repair shops. It's very much appreciated. read more

I have a weight model Toyota Sequoia and was interested in replacing all of the oils in the drive system to include transfer case and rear end with a quality synthetic oil to help prolong the life of the vehicle. After reaching out to the Toyota dealership who would not install anything but their own fluids and calling several other mechanics I ran across Costa Mesa transmission . What I love about the shop is the minute you walk in you realize these guys are real car enthusiasts. There is everything from late model foreign cars to early American hot rods in the shop and you can definitely tell that they take pride in their work. I explained what I wanted to have done, got a quote and scheduled an appointment for a couple of days later. After dropping the car off they called me earlier than anticipated let me know the car was done and everything was good . I will definitely go back to Costa Mesa Transmission again with all of my automotive repair needs. read more

Arturo was extremely helpful over the phone and the service was great too. We highly recommend them. Good, reliable, honest mechanics are hard to find. Costa Mesa Transmission is one, and we went to them for non-transmission related service. They only provided repairs the car needed. You will be happy with their service. read more

They were more than happy to take my money. However, the repair was improperly done. When it came time to fixing it, they didn't have the time for that. They kept telling me to "call back next week" this went on for weeks and weeks and weeks.... I ended up paying another shop to do the job like a professional should. Nothing to see here, move on and please find another shop. read more

Arturo is awesome and very helpful. Great place! If you want experts, this is the place to go.

Arturo is a true professional! I put my issue out here in Yelp and he was the first one to respond, offered to look a the vehicle for free and it turned out to be a simple fix. Didn't charge me anything, if you're looking for a great and honest mechanic I recommend Costa Mesa Transmission. 10/10 would definitely give this place my business! read more

Arturo was very helpful and accommodating. Great service and quick turnaround for my break job highly recommend.

I requested to have a cat shield installed on my car (which I purchased online at Millercat.com) and Costa Mesa Transmission is one of the authorized installers for the millercat shields. Arturo gave me a quote for labor cost that was fair; not overpriced like the other shops in the area. Carlos completed the installation quicker than the estimated time while I waited in their office. Overall very satisfied with the experience and will recommend them to all I know who are looking to have their catalytic converters secured. read more

Toyota dealership told me I should get my brake pads replaced and quoted me a really high price. Arturo from Costa Mesa Transmissions not only gave me the best price out of 5 places I called, he also runs a really honest business. After inspecting my car, he called me back saying he doesn't feel right replacing my brake pads because they're still good for another 10,000 miles! Needless to say, I didn't get my service done there today but I'd definitely go back in the future. read more

I called Costa Mesa Transmission today, and asked if they worked on motorhome transmission for a Ford 32 ft. rv. I told him my issue, and what other shops told me. He told me to bring my unit by so he could advise me for repair. Even knowing that he could not do the job per lifts and space for this size motorhome. I took my Prius to install cat shield there. It took about 2 hours, after i left noticed some rattle underneath the car, i called Arturo about it, he explained to me that the shield i bought did not come with rivets that could put the shield a little away from the catalytic converter and thus minimize contact on vibration, however he asked me to bring the car back and check what they could do to lower rattling. They had to work around by slightly bending the shield. After I drove off i notice no more rattle!! Happy with result and hope this can deter the thieves!! Service price was very reasonable, honest and good customer service attention. The shop also is cleaner compare to many other places. Highly recommended!! read more

I had my Buick towed in for transmission repair. They were very nice, knowledgeable and the price was really fair comparing to other shops I called before. I also got a better warranty from them than from the other places for a lower price. The axles on my car were also broken and they added the parts with no extra labor charge and a huge discount on the axles, because when I called around, I couldn't find anyone even close to that price they quoted me on those axle parts. And they warrantied those as well along with the transmission. They finished the job in less than a week. They were more honest than I've ever seen. I have a hard time believing that they would ever screw someone over. I just think it's just not in their blood. That is just my opinion. read more

I left my car there at 8 and they finished before noon. Fast service. Best price. People were very nice. Thank you :)

Refreshing to find a place where they truly care about integrity and honesty. Arturo truly cares about the satisfaction of clients. I am a single mother with a very limited income, I have been given the run around by multiple other mechanics given outrageous pricing for repairs that weren't needed. The car I am temporarily using is my 24 year old sons, the car is 17 years old and unfortunately I can't afford to just get a new vehicle. Arturo treated me with respect, and assessed the needs of the vehicle as I'm sure he does with all of his clients. He let me know that I didn't need certain repairs and thoroughly looked over the vehicle to make sure it's safe for me and my 5 year old. I so appreciate that & won't go anywhere else. I HIGHLY recommend this place. read more
