Been going to Costa Mesa Auto Service Center since I moved here about a year ago, and they've been great. Whole staff is down to earth, quick, and professional. The owner knows what he's doing and doesn't waste your time. Biggest thing for me is they're honest. Everybody claims their mechanic is honest, but I've got a buddy who works on cars, and when he's looked at mine, it always matched what these guys told me. That says a lot. This is the best auto shop I've ever been to. My car broke down and I had 2 hours to get to work. I called Triple-A and after putting in my request for a tow, James called me immediately and gave me all the info I needed. I just needed a new battery so once I got a jump I drove to Costa Mesa Auto Service Center and they replaced my battery in 15 minutes, didn't try to upsell me on anything, gave me a discount and a really reasonable price. This is the only mechanic I've ever been to that didn't try to charge me a ton or tell me I needed extra work done to my vehicle. My car is running great now. I can't say enough good things about James and his team at Costa Mesa auto service center. I was visiting my daughters from out of town and my car broke down so I had it towed to his shop as it's a certified AAA repair center. They were fair as possible on the pricing while still running a successful business. James communicated to me the whole way through the process. He gave me a list of things that caused the breakdown and had to be fixed and things that could be fixed. We talked it through, and he fixed what had to be fixed on time and at the price he quoted me. They even spent more time than they thought because the labor was more what is estimated but still gave me a very fair price on the extra time. It is no wonder why this Auto Service Center has so many 5 star ratings! They deserve 100 starts if you ask me because Anthony (the owner) goes way above and beyond what he is supposed to do. Here's a brief scenario... My 20 year old son, Romeo, just really starting driving and didn't know that he cant put diesel gas in his Toyota Camry. Long story short, AAA towed the car there. First of all, Anthony did everything possible to troubleshoot the issue with us prior to coming in so that we could save the car from damage and save money. Unfortunately, the protocols didn't work. Won't work on a lifted Jeep (that's 90% of the jeeps on the road) even though it's already been to an off-road shop and has the work order (ball joints). Won't install parts they don't supply themselves, expect this is because they can't make as much off the job. I remember a time when shops didn't turn work down to make more off quicker/easier jobs. Missed out on a new customer with 3 vehicles... will be going elsewhere. read more

I came across Costa Mesa Auto Service during a random Google search when in a pinch to get a company car fixed. Thank God I did! I knew I was in good hands as soon as Chad greeted me. I told him what was going on with the car, he asked a few more questions and explained what their process is like (along with pricing), and I went on my merry way. Chad sent me updates throughout the process via text messages that allowed for quick and easy communication as well as updated invoices. He never did any repairs or service without permission (unlike a lot of other places that will do the service and then hit you with a big bill at the end). He was completely transparent the whole time. I had a such a positive experience that I scheduled my own car for service before the repairs on the company car were even completed. Chad was so sincere and genuine that I had complete faith in the shop's ability to complete the necessary work on my own car in a well-intentioned, ethical, and transparent way. I am not somebody who knows cars very well, especially the technical aspects, and Chad took the time to explain each individual issue in a way that was easily understandable. He did his best to cut down costs wherever possible, which further built my trust in their service. You really feel that they have your best interests in mind (and they do). Both services- for the company car and my personal car- were very reasonably priced. Usually I walk out of repair shops feeling like I need to take out a loan to pay for it, but with these guys it was totally reasonable. Beyond the repairs, Chad offered advice on different car brands, what to look out for when shopping for a new car, and other car tips. I felt like I left with more knowledge than I walked in with, which is a great feeling. Beyond the repairs Chad took the time to have a genuine conversation about family and life which really brought back memories of a time when businesses weren't just out for your money, but wanted to have genuine relationships with their customers. RV Van Life I had a very good experience, on several points, bringing my vehicle to be repaired here, Chad went out of his way to make sure the job was done honestly, and promptly, he was the one that reminded me that I qualified for a AAA discount, first time that's happened, and he tried to keep the overall cost as low as he could. He pointed out other problems that needed fixing without any heavy oversell. He had the mechanic work extended hours for a quicker repair which came out great, very friendly staff, and the surrounding area is a very safe clean neighborhood. Once in a while my previous auto repair shop would tell me I had to go to the dealer for a repair that they weren't comfortable handling.. I stopped in Costa Mesa Auto Service Center to double check and they were able to handle the repair. Since then, I have come back here many times and they always do a GREAT job! Low side of fair pricing too.. In fact during a deal recall airbag repair, the dealer told me I needed other repairs and I took their list to Costa Mesa Auto Repair where they found the actual repairs needed were about 1/4 of the repairs listed and repaired them for a quarter of the dealer quoted price! I am so glad I found this shop. They go the extra mile every time to take good care of you. You will be so glad you gave them a try! And then you will never leave :) read more

Not being familiar with the area, we turned to Yelp and found Costa Mesa Auto Service based on the great reviews. First time coming to this shop. I got my car towed in late after operating hours and left my keys and a note what's wrong with it. They did a diagnostic the next day and kept me in the loop by texting me and after things were fixed (happened to be the key car chip) he texted me the next day making sure everything was good and running.
