I hate doing this but I don't want anyone else taken advantage of. I had my car serviced in May, they recommended 5500 in repair work, I was in a position to get this done and I moved forward with the work. I had the car parked for 2-3 weeks after, Massive trans fluid / power steering fluid leak. They worked on both, could have been either. I called back to see if they could readdress the issues that were just worked on. I was then explained that the previous owner had left and there was a new CA BAR number and they had no responsibility to repair it but they would look at it and possibly assist. So I towed it over and they proceeded to quote me 2500 more to fix the things they were supposed to fix previously. I don't know if these guys are working a scheme to get new owners in every couple years so they can't be sued. Its just a shame that they are the reason you have a hard time trusting repair shops. The give honest shops a bad name. Due your own research, make your own choice. But don't say I didn't try warning everyone. read more

Really have to thank Yelp on this one! So happy to have found this place! I have a project car that rarely gets driven.... On a quick drive to keep the battery and fluids fresh, it felt a little rough. With upcoming plans to sell the car, I wanted to make sure it was in great condition and immediately looked up transmission shops by me. Dave responded right away to my message about getting a free estimate and opened up a spot the next morning. Dave was very kind, informative and patient to talk through scenarios with me. Well, nothing ended up being wrong. George drove it, took a peak under to listen for odd noises... I vehemently argued that something has to be wrong and they must find the cause... He even had me drive with George in the car... seriously, nothing. Mike, the manager of Irvine Transmission Shop in Irvine notified me that my Honda Odyssey was ready for pick up after they installed a used transmission in it. It took a week of installation for it. He and I did a road test to just to find out that the major problem of the transmission did not get fixed. The transmission job had to be fixed! When I took the van home, it wouldn't start the next day, I had to call AAA to get the car to start. AAA technician had to tighten up the battery terminals. The repair shop did not bother to check the battery if they were tight enough before delivery. My car got so dirty. What a shame! This shop has poor management. They have no quality check before delivering the car to the customer. They are all talk! The quality of service sucks. read more

He was very patient & explained what I needed & also what I didn't need. He's very honest & saved me $. I ordered my new Transmission Pan, Filter, & Oil and scheduled an appointment with Michael. All of my parts were delayed 3 different times. I had to call and cancel my appointments all 3 times & he was very understanding & told me don't worry about it, this happens all the time. I haven't had any work done yet but I took our 2013 Honda Crosstour in for an inspection where the car wasn't running right. Dave the manager is a great guy and he needed to check it out. I thought for sure we needed to have our transmission rebuilt. He said he couldn't get an error code on it so he couldn't do anything and was honest enough to not take my money if nothing was wrong. He said to keep driving it and it seemed to get worse he'd check it out again. Good trustworthy people at this business. My truck needed a complete differential rebuilt as the bearings and pinion on my truck were all bad. I was able to bring my truck in, get it diagnosed, and they had it back to me all in the same week. They even showed me all of the parts they removed, where the issues were, and what was causing the noise. It appeared the last person who serviced it (the dealer) adjusted things wrong that most likely caused the issue. Great service and obviously experienced in what they do. Dave was great to work with. He was never too busy to take my call and explain my options. He is very knowledgeable and was not sarcastic when I tried to lie to myself and say my transmission did not need to be rebuilt, I mean who wants to pay for that? Dave explained the things I was reading on google were temporary fixes and if I did that I would drive it away but be back soon with more issues. He did all this without being pushy, or making me feel like I had to have him fix it. The total price was what he said it would be and that was even after upgrading the torque converter and installing a new transmission cooler which were not included in his original estimate. I don't give too many reviews here on yelp, but Dale and the guys over at Irvine Transmission are hands-down some of the best Mechanics I've ever had work on my vehicle. My Lexus has been out of commission for the past year and I even took it to the dealership on two separate occasions to try and diagnose the problem. Both times the problem was misdiagnosed and I was no further along than I was before going. The dealership charged me $340 for two hours of labor each time so a total of just under $750. I finally took the car to Irvine Transmission & Dale had it for 24 hours and had the problem correctly diagnosed which is something the dealership failed to do. The dealership told me to spend $4,700 and have them put in a new transmission when the only problem was a blocked exhaust from a collapsed catalytic converter. So I took the vehicle home got a new exhaust off of craigslist and was able to fix my vehicle for $80. We're it not for the expertise and patience of the guys over at Irvine Transmission I could've been out a whole heck of a lot more money. My baby is back in action and up and running great thanks to Dale and his knowledgeable tech's. This car holds a special place in my heart and the cost of the transmission that the dealership quoted me was more than the vehicle is worth so I may have ended up scrapping it. I recently had a catastrophic failure of my 2005 Acura TL's transmission. After speaking with Dave on the phone, I brought my car in for service. Dave and his team diagnosed the problem and completed the job within the estimated time frame and original quoted cost. The repair wasn't cheap, but I do believe you get what you pay for, especially when it comes to professional service. They also offer one of the best warranty around: 36mo/100,000 miles as long as you bring the car back once a year for service. Bottom line: getting your transmission fixed is expensive. There is no way around it. But if I have to shell out a bunch of money, I'd rather pay for service I can have confidence in. Like they say, you pay once, you cry once. read more

The rear diff went out on my 2005 Tahoe. Being an experienced mechanic of over 20 years, I diagnosed it myself as bearing whine. I hit up a few local shops to get quotes, and this shop (Steven) was the fastest to reply. I asked for a detailed quote including the manufacturer of the parts, and Steven promptly met my requests. After all my years of experience as a mechanic, I have a hard time trusting that shops will do the job honestly. I've seen some shops cut some serious corners in the past. I coordinated with Steven for the repair, dropped off the truck, and got it back two days later, as promised. When I returned to pick up the truck, I asked Steven to show me the part numbers on the invoice. He said he could do that, it would just take a minute because he needed to dig up the part numbers. He said he could show me the used parts instead (which I actually preferred), and he walked me over to the bay where they had been working on my truck and showed them to me. All the used parts were there, and he pointed out specifically which bearings had failed. All in all, this was a great experience with a trustworthy shop. I worked with Steven on my Jeep Commander and he and his team were absolutely the best! Seriously ... professional, knowledgable and detailed. I also wanted them to look at some issues on my front-end which wound up needing new axles, boots etc.... and they did the work while it was there, fair pricing and I was informed all the way through.... and they backed everything up with a solid warranty!
